CANTON BESTED IN OT BY SPURS CEDAR PARK, TX - The Canton Charge (6-9), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, were defeated in overtime by the Austin Spurs (11-7), 100-96, at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park on Sunday afternoon. A national audience on NBA TV saw the Charge come back from down 16 at half to send the game into extra time. Canton’s Isaac Hamilton scored 14 of his season-high 21 points in the second half, including the bucket to send the game to OT, to go along with a season-high seven rebounds and two steals in 32 minutes of relief. Arthur Edwards netted 15 points and grabbed four steals in 33 minutes off the bench. The Charge reserves accounted for 50 of the team’s 96 points on the afternoon. Kendrick Perkins added 11 points and seven boards in 28 minutes. Down 52-36 coming out of the half, the Charge posted an impressive third quarter to tie the game by outscoring the hosts 37-21 thanks in part to 10 Spurs turnovers resulting in 18 points plus a team shooting effort of 57% overall from the floor (12-of-21). Both teams traded blows for six lead changes and three ties in the fourth, with neither gaining an advantage of more than two possessions. Down 94-92, Canton’s Hamilton cut along the baseline and converted a 14-foot floater to knot the game with 2.5 seconds left. Austin held the Charge to 1-of-5 shooting in OT en route to the victory. Canton finishes their Texas two-step with a day game at the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Tuesday December 19th at 12:00 p.m. The Charge are back home on Friday, December 22nd at 7:00 p.m. against the South Bay Lakers (Los Angeles Lakers) For 2017-18 Charge Nation Memberships, offseason events, game day promotions and up-to-date information, head to CantonCharge.com or call 866-444-1944.
