DESCRIPTION
TUC Education is the TUC’s training arm, delivering for workplace reps and union professionals across the UK. It has an unrivalled reach into Britain’s workplaces to provide education and training for around 48,000 union reps each year in partnership with around 60 FE providers. It is in the interests of government, the economy, employers, workers and their unions that representatives are properly trained in order that they carry out their role successfully, and this has been widely recognised by successive governments. Union presence in the public sector is well documented. However, research carried out across the UK showed that, in 2011-12, 2,333 leading employers in the private sector sent union reps from their enterprises to TUC Education courses. This employer support is a further indication of the importance placed on high quality training for union reps.
