    At the WEA we oer a range of union courses for reps of all experiences andbackgrounds. Our courses are free for union reps and are accredited through me inthe classroom and workplace acvies. Workplace reps, shop stewards, H&S reps andlearning reps all have a legal right to aend without loss of earnings.NB: for all courses listed below WEA are running two separate courses on each day a General course and a course specically for those who work on London

    Underground.All courses listed , unless otherwise stated, run from 9.30am to 4.30pm

    GETTING STARTED in YOUR UNION ROLE? These courses are designedto give you the knowledge, skills and condence to help you represent your members.

    UNION REPRESENTATIVES Stage 1Find out what it means to be a union rep, how union democracy works, how torepresent your members eecvely, how to deal with collecve and individual issues. Duraon: 10 MONDAYS from 29 SEPTEMBER - 1 DECEMBER 2014; or

    10 MONDAYS from 19 JANUARY - 23 MARCH 2015; or10 MONDAYS from 20 APRIL - 6 JULY 2015 (not including bank holidays)

    HEALTH & SAFETY REPRESENTATIVES Stage 1This course provides an understanding of the health and safety framework, trade union

    safety reps funcons and the union approach to health and safety.Duraon: 10 WEDNESDAYS from 1 OCTOBER - 3 DECEMBER 2014; or

    10 WEDNESDAYS from 21 JANUARY - 25 MARCH 2015; or10 WEDNESDAYS from 29 APRIL - 1 JULY 2015

    UNION LEARNING REPS Stages 1 and 2The new Union Learning Rep courses have replaced the 5 day course and follow

    on modules. Stage 1 looks at the funcons and facilies of a ULR, union learning

    and structures and promong learning through the trade union approach.

    Stage 2 looks in more depth at learning needs, organising and working with

    others, and developing strategies around learning and organising.

    Duraon: STAGE 1: 5 TUESDAYS from 23 SEPTEMBER - 21 OCTOBER 2014; or

    5 TUESDAYS from 13 JANUARY - 10 FEBRUARY 2015; or
