TTN-HOME

For women over 50, who are exploring housing options and are eager to maximize their independence as they continue aging.

TTN-HOME is a HUB that focuses on providing:

• a central meeting ground for women to discover new ways to think about their housing issues

• networking opportunities to connect with other women who have similar housing concerns

• support to one another in this new and uncharted territory critical to our age group

Current Housing Statistic (2015)National: Sales up 3.9%, Rentals up 3.7%

Bay Area: Sales up 32.4%, Rentals up 32.9%

Background

• Sept 2012: TTN SF/Bay Area chapter presents half day workshop on housing led by Chris Kennedy of Age2Age. Over 60 women attended.

• TTN SF/Bay Area chapter creates geographically-based peer groups focusing on housing needs.

TTN-HOME

• May 2013: Opened meetings to the general public as a TTN community service. Began focusing on the 12 most likely housing options for seniors in the East Bay.

Monthly meetings are structured into three-part modules:

Structure focuses on building connections among participants through:

• Panel presentations by women living in featured housing options

• Reflective writing exercises• Small group discussions• Networking time

New structure continues to build connections through:

• TTN-HOME moderated listserve: – Currently 647 member mailing list– People post what they are looking for/what they

have to offer– Share resources– Share housing-related relevant articles – Supports spin-off groups

Accomplishments (as of 06/05/15)• One spin-off group looking to purchase a multi-

unit building together• Collaborative series with Ashby Village and

NextVillageSF• Inquiries from other communities about the TTN-

HOME model• Initial stages of forming a facilitated support

group, and a manual (TTN-HOME in a box).• Collecting anecdotal information on those making

decisions after participating in the groups
