Analyse the differences that historical perspective, literary form and culture generate (1.2, 6.3) SPECIFIC LEARNING OUTCOMES Students should be able to: 1. read and analyse a short story with critical awareness of relevant theories of literary criticism 2. conduct an oral presentation with meaningful justification of literary criticism 3. differentiate the different forms and features of poetry COURSEWORK: (A) TASK 1: WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT (30%) Discuss the application of at least two relevant theories of literary criticism in a short story you have studied in this course. Your answer should not be more than 800 words. THE TASK This is an individual assessment. Carefully select the relevant theories of literary criticism and apply them to the selected short story. Justify your choice by referring closely to the text and providing textual evidence. Analysis should show evidence of critical thinking. A GOOD ASSIGNMENT SHOULD SHOW 1.
