    Theskyscraper isoneofthesymbolsoftheverticaldevelopmentofthecity. Inrecentyears,alongwithrapidurbanization,alargenumberofskyscrapershavebeenbuiltinChinesecities.Theseskyscraperscanbetheimportantnodesintheurbanspaceandprovidethepossibilityofhighdensitydevelopment for the city.Thisarticle introduced the situationof skyscrapers inChinese cities, including thenumberanddistributionof the skyscrapers, the analysisof themorphologicaltypes,theroleoftheskyscrapersintheurbanspace,aswellasthecasestudiesandexperienceofKaipingDiaolou.

    2006,Discourse

    on

    the

    Contemporary

    Architecture

    of

    China

    in

    2007,

    etc.

    He

    has

    been

    involved

    for

    manyyearsinthepracticeofarchitectureandurbandesigninChina includingreconstructiondesign

    ofTsinghuaAuditorium,urbanmasterdesignofTianjinBinhaiNewArea, reconstructiondesignof

    TangshanQixinCementFactory,etc.Hisdesignworkhas receivedmany internationalandnational

    competitionprizesanddesignawards

    Wang Hui, Assistant Professor

    WangHuiisnowengagedinteachingandresearchinSchoolofArchitecture,TsinghuaUniversity.

    He started studying in 1997 at the School of Architecture, Tsinghua University and received

    bachelor'sdegree,master'sdegreeanddoctorateinengineeringthere.Hisresearchandteaching

    focusesincludearchitecturaldesigntheoriesandpracticeinChina,urbandesignandaestheticsof

    architecture. The research projects he took part in include City Planning, Construction andGovernment in Beijing, Architecture and Landscape Design on Campus of GuangdongUniversity of Technology, etc.HewroteAdministration Spaces in Beijing and participated ineditingofotherbooksincludingSOFTNewYork,10thVeniceBiennale,InternationalWorkshopandDiscourseontheContemporaryArchitectureofChina.
