DEAN’S MESSAGE

I am delighted to present with you the latest issue of Tsinghua SEM Newsletter before the ending of the year of 2007. In the last issue we reported the news that Tsinghua SEM was awarded the accreditation of AACSB, becoming the first business school in Chinese mainland to achieve the accreditation. Between then and now, Tsinghua SEM has made new progresses, and I would like to highlight a few:

One is about the School’s undergraduate enrollment this year. We have been able to admit the best and brightest high school graduates across the country, and this year we have done particularly well: Tsinghua SEM has enrolled 15 provincial No.1’s, and over 40% of the incoming students are ranked among the top 10 in their home provinces in the College Entrance Exam.

In August, Tsinghua SEM’s academic capabilities were further recognized by national authorities as the three academic disciplines of “Management Science and Engineering” “Business Administration” and “Quantitative Economics”offered by the School were accredited by Ministry of Education as “National Key Disciplines”.

In October, the 8th Advisory Board Meeting of Tsinghua SEM took place on the School’s campus. One day prior to the meeting, the School hosted the inaugural Tsinghua Management Global Forum, which provided a platform for communications between the Advisory Board members and their Chinese counterparts in the business community. The forum was the highest-level forum of its kind that has ever been held in Tsinghua and is expected to be an annual event of the School.

As always, we thank you faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends of Tsinghua SEM for your contribution in various ways to the development of the School. It is the support from all of you who help make it possible to make the School progress continuously towards the goal of becoming a world-class school of economics and management. We, along with all of you, look forward to another exciting and productive year.
