Nicola Alesbrook CO97 After leaving school Nicola went to St Mary's university to study Sport Science. Form there she secured a position at Harlequins Rugby Club and stayed for 5 years as their events manager before moving to World Rugby in 2005.

Emily Barlow CO08 After leaving Truro School Emily completed a masters degree in Chemistry at Oxford University. Her first job was as a General Management Graduate at Zurich Insurance and after leaving the scheme she worked in product development in pensions and that gave Emily the experience to move across to pension investments. Emily is now an Assistant Vice President at State Street Global Advisors working as a DC investment strategist in London. Emily’s role includes a mixture of Investment design, sales, research and market messaging. She returns to Cornwall often as her family still live there and she keeps in touch with quite a few friends who are still located in the County.

Chris Barnes CO03 Chris left Truro for the equally quaint city of Canterbury where he studied Media Studies & Psychology. After graduating he worked as digital lead in a number of non-profit organisations before setting up his own agency, Chatterback Communications. Chatterback has grown rapidly since 2015, now serving third-sector organisations ranging from the Children’s Society to the Chelsea Pensioners.

Michaela Best CO79 Michaela works as an interior designer and has her own company W9design (www.w9design.co.uk). Michaela has been doing this for the last 13 years, working mainly in central London. Previous to this she worked in the national press (Observer, Evening Standard & Mail on Sunday) as manager to the Financial Advertising teams. After graduating from Bedford College, London, Michaela did a year's postgrad, PGCE, thinking a teaching qualification might be useful, but in fact she never became a teacher.

Rob Bruce CO74 Rob used to be at Barclays Capital but is now retired. Initially his roles were as a reporting accountant for the Commodities section, but latterly he worked as a Project Manager in the Finance function, ending up as a VP. He continues to be busy occupying his days by acting as Treasurer for his local rugby team (Enfield Ignatians RFC) and scout group (18th Edmonton).

Lizzy Buss (Nee Woods)

CO97 Lizzy finished her BSc (Hons) Chemistry at the University of Nottingham in 2000 and took a few months out to travel the world, meet her future-husband, settle in London, and start a career in investment banking.

3 children and a few career moves later, Lizzy is settled in Surrey with husband Graham and children Lily-Ella (9), James (8), and Emilia (5).

Lizzy is a Vice President at State Street Bank, working in business development/sales. Charity work has been a theme since leaving school & Lizzy is currently working towards her first Board position.

Nathan Capone CO03 Nathan left TS in 2003 and studied Law at the London School of Economics (LSE) and University College London (UCL).

He now works in London for Fieldfisher LLP as a solicitor specialising in media litigation.

James Carrick CO96 James is an environmental planning consultant working for an engineering company in Bath. James led multidisciplinary large scale masterplan EIA developments in UK and abroad. He worked in London after complleting his Master in Environmental Management from The University of Manchester. After leaving Truro School, James completed an undergraduate course in French and Law at Oxford Brookes University and joined the British Army, reaching the rank of Major before leaving to pursue a new career in 2012.

Roger Dean CO62 After university, Roger joined British Petroleum and was sent to Northern Ireland and in 1969, he was assigned to duty as an economist/financial analyst in southern Iran. In 1973, Roger accepted an invitation from Unilever to join their Economics and Statistics Department as a staff economist. This included extended projects in Italy and Bavaria in Germany. In 1980, he was seconded to the Food and Drinks Industries Council. Partly as a result of this, in 1981, Roger was appointed Deputy Director of the United Kingdom Agricultural Supply Trade Association (UKASTA) with particular responsibility for developing policy options for the manufactured animal feed industry in the UK.

Roger then became selff-employed consulting in a number of countries including the Baltic States; Lithuanian, Latvia and Estonia; and a two-year residency in Kiev, Ukraine.

He was also commissioned to provide a substantial amount of copy to a new magazine; Feed Compounder; aimed at the animal feed industry in the UK, an assignment which continues despite his efforts to retire properly.

Samuel Eddy CO11 Sam is currently working for the finance company UBS.

Rebecca Ewart CO11 Rebecca graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Real Estate from The University of The West of England in 2015. Before joining Remit, Rebecca gained experience with lease consultancy, hotel and residential agency and the valuation of commercial, residential and leisure properties. Rebecca joined Remit in 2017 and has been working on a wide variety of projects including project and programme management, assisting with advising clients on meeting compliance and regulatory standards, improving business efficiency, through the implementation of leading practice internal business processes, more effective use of information systems and outsourcing.

Ian Gallehawk CO77 Ian left school in 1977 and attended Goldsmiths’ College, University of London, graduating with an Upper Second in Sociology. He joined the Metropolitan Police in 1980, retiring in 2010 after 30 years’ service. Ian is married, enjoying retirement and is heavily involved with The Freemason's in Kent.

Matthew Gee CO94 Left Truro School in 1994 to study medicine at King's College School of Medicine and Dentistry. Graduated in 2000 with a BSc in Pharmacology and Batchelor degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). Became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2011(FRCS) and awarded a Masters in Orthopaedics in 2013 (MSc). Became a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at King's College Hospital in 2014 specialising in Hip and Knee and complex pelvic trauma. Also works at London Bridge Hospital and for the Fortius Clinic. Lives in Beckenham, and is married with 2 young daughters, Matilda and Molly.

Dominic Gilchrist CO09 After Truro School, Dominic studied History and Politics at Ox-ford University. He now works in the Implementation Unit in the Cabinet Office covering the Home Affairs brief. He has worked in the Civil Service for four years including two on the Civil Ser-vice Fast Stream graduate scheme. He has worked across five departments in roles including trade strategy, ministerial speechwriting and early years education funding, and spent six months on secondment to Capgemini Consulting.

Stephen Goddard CO89 Stephen left Truro in 1989 to join the Navy – where he became an engineer in the submarine service. Stephen left in 2001 and eventually joined Deloitte in 2004 as a management consultant. He is still there, as the Director of Business Change. Outside of work, Stephen is married and has two children: A 14 year old daughter and 12 year old son. Stephen says he would like to pretend that outdoor pursuits remain important to him –having fond memories of Minions, sailing and Ten Tors, but the truth is “daddy taxi’ing” seems to take up a lot of his time.

Ann Gripper CO98 After graduating from Nottingham University with a degree in Modern Language Studies (French, German and Russian), Ann spent a year teaching English in Moscow. She then joined the Daily Mirror as a trainee and, apart from nine months freelancing for the Mirror, has never left. Ann is now Executive Editor (digital) of Mirror.co.uk and married to the paper's deputy political editor Ben Glaze.

Harry Hall CO09 Harry works for the investment management firm BlackRock on the Institutional sales team. They help large pension scheme clients reach their sophisticated investment objectives through a broad range of asset classes and strategies.

Thomas Harvey CO13 Tom graduated from Cambridge University (Queens' College) with a BA in Law. He is now studying for an LLM with a focus on commercial law with Queen Mary University of London.

Victoria Hatcher CO83 Following Victoria’s time at Truro School she spent a year at a local college in Oxford before going to Brighton Polytechnic where she gained a BA(Hons) in Design and Social History.

She spent a few years working in the print industry in London and Hong Kong before returning to Cornwall where she joined the Department of Employment working with long-term unemployed job seekers. From 1994 - 2000 Victoria was the Publicity Officer at Truro College and left the College to spend more time with her four children and to support her husband with property development and management; she is currently working on their latest project.

Charlie Hatcher CO16 Charlie joined Truro School in the 4th year having transferred from Kelly College. He left school last June with credible A Levels and a job as Deck Crew on a super yacht. Charlie spent six months in Palma gaining valuable experience but moved to Falmouth earlier this year to join the crew of a 1929 motor yacht. The current yacht has almost finished its extensive re-fit and he is now looking forward to working as her Lead Deck-hand until I start a Cadetship in Southampton in September 2018.

India Heaton CO16 India left Truro at the end of her fifth year in 2014 to do her A-levels at Helston Community College. There she gained an A-level in Creative Writing and an AS-level in English Language and Literature. India is currently in her second year of a Foundation Degree in Writing for Performance at Ruskin College, Oxford and is looking to do her work placement either in Oxford or Cornwall. Falmouth University have offered India a place on any of their writing degree courses as of the 2018/19 year. In her spare time, India continues to take ballet lessons, looking to do her Grade Six exam in the Spring, and goes to regular shows at the Oxford Playhouse and the Old Fire Station theatres.

Sam Hodge CO11 Sam has just graduated from the Bachelor of Civil Law Masters degree, which he undertook at Oriel College, Oxford. He IS now training to become a barrister ahead of starting his pupillage next September. Sam will be practising at Enterprise Chambers, a Commercial Chancery set based in Lincoln's Inn, London.

Oliver Katz CO13 After leaving Truro School, Oliver read Geology at Durham University including dissertation work mapping in the French Alps . Following that, he worked for a medical community interests company based in Cornwall tasked with reorganizing Cornish General Practice. Oliver is currently working for Royal Dutch Shell as part of the team that manages its global shipping business.

Charlotte Kippax CO11 Charlotte works at the Southbank Centre as a Commercial Events Officer. This role involves organising all of the external corporate and private events which take place on the site, including conferences, concerts, graduations and award ceremonies such as the BAFTA's.

Katie Knowles CO08 Following graduating from Brunel University in 2015 with a Masters degree in Physiotherapy, Katie has worked in both the NHS for the Central and North West London NHS trust and in a private London clinic setting. She is soon to start a new role working as a Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist at the BMI hospital in Windsor.

Damian Leslie CO91 Damian works for the auction house Sotheby's, he is head of Sotheby's Financial Services for Europe and Asia. Technically they lend money secured by the clients Art Works, Porcelain, Wine, sculptures, classic cars and jewellery- basically anything that Sotheby's sells at auction that can be lend against!

Outside of work Damian is a keen sailor and has raced around the world on the clipper round the world yacht race and cycle (a lot - too much according to his wife!) and he has a little boy aged 21 months.

CO09 After graduating from Warwick University in Economics, Vignesh joined PwC where he qualified as a chartered accountant. He now works in PwC's Transaction Services where he advise clients on mergers and acquisitions, specialising in the Retail, Consumer & Leisure industries.

Richard Lodge CO00 Richard is a Relationship Manager at C. Hoare & Co., which remains wholly owned by the Hoare family. They are currently a 10th and 11th generation family business. Richard is part of the Bank’s Landed Estates team, whilst still looking after a broad range of customers. Outside of work, he is married with a young son who will be 2 in December. The family live in Surrey but still like to head down to Cornwall to visit friends and family as the opportunities allow. In rare moments of spare time, Richard can still (sometimes) be found on the golf course and also enjoys running, completing his first London Marathon in 2015 and has not been put off doing it again.

Henry Lloyd-Laney CO13 Henry is currently a DPhil student and Clarendon Scholar, reading Synthetic biology at the University of Oxford. He is funded by the BBSRC and EPSRC, and yet to decide on his full project, but his research interests include de novo protein engineering and DNA nanomachines.

Gabriella Lobb CO11 Gabriella graduated from Cambridge University with a BA in Geography. She joined Lloyds Banking Group as a graduate, fulfilling a number of roles including in Credit Operations, regu-latory engagement for payments, and working directly for the Group Director of Operations. Gabriella has now moved to the Commercial Banking arm, as Executive Support Manager to the Chief Executive. Gabriella lives in London (but misses Cornwall a great deal).

Floyd Macdonald CO86 From Truro Floyd went to the University of Stirling (BSc Hons Biology) and also completed two years in the RAF University Air Squadron, Edinburgh. He then went on to do banking and dis his MBA at London Business School. Floyd was based in London then New York for years whilst quietly buying around 40 rental properties as a business on the side until hi second daughter was born when he decided he should relocate to Barbados for a few years. There, he generally took it much easier & ran a little local business. This month, now that he is 50 he has just returned to be in London full time.

Max Levene CO10 Max is currently a Civil Service Economist working for the DWP, based in London.

Derek Man CO07 Derek Man is a London-based photographer. After leaving Truro School, he studied BA(Hons) Graphic Design at Kingston University and worked in design and art direction for a leading London studio for 5 years. He then turned his focus to photog-raphy and completed MA Documentary Photography at University of South Wales.

His project The Isle of Wight Analogy was selected by Tate curator Shoair Mavlian for Source Photographic Review Graduate 2016, and by Eikoh Hosoe for K*MoPA Young Portfolio. His latest work Close to Home looks at the housing crisis in Hong Kong. Part-funded by a grant from Arts Council England, the project was showcased at LOOK/17 Liverpool International Photography Festival from April to June 2017. The same year he was nominated for the Magnum Photos Graduate Photographers Award and commended in the ESPY Photography Award. His work is in the collection of Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool (UK) and Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts (Japan).

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Derek became a British citizen in 2016.

Lydia Manuell CO08 Since studying Music at the University of Manchester, Lydia has been working and living in London for over 5 years as a fundraiser for various arts and heritage charities, including the Royal College of Music and Historic Royal Palaces. Lydia is now the Development Officer for Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance where she is responsible for coordinating the fundraising events programme, raising funds from individuals and ensuring that her supporters are 'looked after'.

Jack Mulcahy CO12 Once Jack had obtained his degree in International Business he embarked on the onerous task of finding a graduate job. After a short stint at a Wealth Management practice in Taunton it became clear to him that London may offer a more exciting lifestyle and a much wider array of opportunities for graduates, both in start-up boutiques and with larger corporate businesses. After countless hours of applications he was fortunate enough to secure a role with the global infrastructure group Balfour Beatty and has since completed a 6 month placement in their Project Finance department. Jack has now begun work in the Bidding division, helping senior managers develop proposals to secure multi-million pound development opportunities. As part of this placement he is due to spend 2 months in Dublin next year to help Balfour with their Irish Water proposal. Longer term aspirations include working abroad as infrastructure is still a developing industry in regions like the Middle-East and Asia, and he would like to be there "when the floodgates open!"

Anthony Oliver CO03 Anthony went to Kingston University and did a degree in Business and Film Studies. He graduated in 2006 and then began commercial pilot training at Oxford Aviation (living in Oxford and Phoenix, Arizona) and when he graduated from that, Anthony went to work in Luxembourg from November 2007 working firstly for Luxair and then Cargolux. Since, July 2015,heI returned to London and has been flying the Boeing 747 for British Airways.

Thomas Pascoe CO11 Thomas is currently working towards his RICS accreditation within the Asset Management Team at LaSalle Investment Management.

Timothy Passmore CO00 After leaving school, Tim gained an MEng (Hons) in Aeronauti-cal Engineering from Imperial College. He then went on to work as Web Operations Manager for a software company in the city who provide a trading platform for insurance brokers and banks. After 8 years he retrained as a maths teacher and has been working at Hampton School in South West London since 2012.

Russell Pike CO78 After leaving Truro in 1978, Russell joined a company called Courtaulds and was sponsored by them to attend University. He graduated with a 1st class BA degree in Textiles and Management from Leeds University in 1982 and then embarked on a career in the Textile Industry. Russell stayed with Courtaulds until 1990 and during that period lived and worked in the UK, France and the United States. In 1990 he left Courtaulds to join a US company - DuPont de Nemours - and worked with them until 2004, Russell then decided to make a change of direction and has now embarked on a "second career". He has started up in business on his own as a Financial Adviser working as an Appointed Representative of St James's Place Wealth Management PLC and can offer Financial Planning and Advice to Individuals, Families and Small Businesses.

CO75 On leaving Truro Chris joined Nat West and worked in Cornwall before moving to London in 1977. He left Natwest in 1979 and joined a small private Bank in the West end. After several takeovers during the 80's Chris ended up working for Merchant Banking group Singer & Friedlander Ltd in the City before taking early retirement. Richard was involved in Trade finance advising clients on import and export deals later working on Commodity Trade Finance business concentrating on Metals . He has recently worked on a contract basis for Zenith Bank a Nigerian Bank and for Santander Global and Commercial in the City, and is currently contracting for FBN Bank(UK) Ltd in the City

Michael Pooley CO76 Michael has deep rooted industry knowledge and experience spanning 36 years and across 5 continents in Sales, Food and Material Sourcing, Supply Chain, 24/7 Operations, Customer Service, Hospitality, Culinary Excellence, Logistics and New Business Development.

He has a resourceful and energetic management style combining strong client facing and interpersonal skills with a creative and decisive problem-solving technique and a keen focus on nurturing and retaining talent.

James Pooley CO12 James graduated in July 2015 with a First Class Honors Math's

degree from Cardiff University. After a short time in season

ticket sales at Saracens Rugby Club he joined the Project

Finance, Financial modelling and Valuations' department at

RSM UK. Over the last year he has helped to build and review

financial models whilst studying towards his ACA professional

qualification.

Philip Rule CO78 Philip attended Truro School from 70 to 78. He joined the Metropolitan Police in September 1978. He served at various stations in London as a uniformed officer, mostly on patrol duties and was heavily involved in the Miners' dispute '84-'85 suffering a severe injury. He joined Traffic in 1989 returning in 1990 to normal policing duties. Philip continued uniform service until returning to Traffic Patrol once again in 2004. He was involved in an accident in 2005 while riding a police motor cycle, which restricted his duties for the rest of his service. After secondment to the Home Office Philip retired from the Met in 2008. He has gone on to successfully set up his own chauffeur business in Surrey involving thriving corporate work mostly to and from airports and sporting events and he covers about 80000 miles a year keeping him very busy.

Lawrence Sly CO09 Since leaving Truro School in 2009 Lawrence embarked on the long journey of becoming an architect and completed his Part 1, 2 and 3 studies at Plymouth, Kent and Westminster Universities respectively. Having spent the last two years working for a small firm of architects in North London whilst completing my professional studies in September, Lawrence had led a number of prestigious projects in the city within both commercial and residential sectors.

Adam Smith CO03 Following a gap year travelling Adam studied Building Surveying at Reading University and graduated in 2007 at which stage he entered the working world with CBRE before joining Cushman & Wakefield where he is a Partner in the Central London Building Surveying team.

Thomas Stross CO48 Tom came to Truro School in 1941 and left in 1948, and was a prefect for the last three years and head prefect, for the last year. He went straight from school to Oxford, which at that time was unusual as most places were reserved for returning ex-servicemen. Then to Imperial College, London, for a PhD.

After that Tom did national Service, before going into the nuclear industry, where he spent most of his working life on the design and commissioning of nuclear power stations.

Tom retired in 1993and lives at Oxford, but divides his time between there and France where he has a small house.

Adam Strowger CO03 After leaving TS Adam studied French and Russian at Durham University, living in Paris, Moscow and St Petersburg during his 4 year course. After leaving Durham, Adam joined Standard Chartered Bank within their financial markets division and now works at Goldman Sachs.

Joseph Toms CO97 Joseph is currently a Senior House Officer (SHO/F2) completing his foundation training at St George's Hospital in Tooting, London. This year he will rotate through placements in Community Psychiatry (currently), Cardio-thoracic surgery and Emergency medicine, look out for him on 24 hours in A&E.

Jem Treadwell CO74 After leaving school Jem lived in the Manchester area for 13 years, working for a software company in Cheshire. Since 1988 he and his family have lived in New Jersey, making occasional trips back to the UK. He retired from the computer industry in 2015, but stays much too involved by developing software for a youth soccer club and other local groups. Jem and his wife, Anne, have two children and two young grand-daughters.

Timothy Tregidgo CO61 Timothy graduated in Mathematics from Bristol College of Advanced Technology in 1965, and spent his early career practising Operational Research with United Glass, and International Distillers and Vintners/ Grand Met. He spent 17 years with Lex Service Plc as Planning Manager in various subsidiaries (Car Retailing, Hotels, Transportation and Corporate Office; then 5 years with BET Plc in Corporate Strategy/Finance, and 8 years with Novartis Pharmaceuticals UK Ltd as UK Planning/Strategy Manager. Born in St Austell in 1943. Timothy Lived in Truro whilst attending Truro School. Married Pip in 1971, and has 3 Children and 3 Grandchildren.

Emily Trevail CO11 Since graduating from Bath University studying Natural Sciences last summer Emily has spent some time volunteering abroad for the disaster relief charity, All Hands, in Nepal, and worked in the fundraising department at ShelterBox in Truro. She recently moved to London and is currently in her first placement of the graduate scheme run by the British Heart Foundation and Macmillan, named 'Gradunique'. Working for Macmillan in the London Geography Services team, she is looking at the Cancer Information and Support Services provid-ed by Macmillan and other charities in North West London. Outside of work, Emily is part of a social netball team and is enjoying exploring this incredible new city.

Anna Whitford CO14 I have graduated from Durham this year with a First in BSc Geology and am starting my MSc in Geophysical Hazards at UCL in September this year.

Vikram Watts CO74 These days I am a psychiatrist in full time private practice. I work out of the Priory Hospital North London and various other locations. My website contains more details. www.drvikwatts.com

Glyn Rees CO94 Glyn studied law at Brunel Univeristy and now works as a solici-tor in the litigation department at King & Spalding LLP. He is married with two children, Daisy and Daniel.

Andy Peck CO78 Andy spent his career in the food manufacturing and distribution industry. He worked for Tesco for 20 years and also worked for 3 different foods producers - RHM, Discovery Foods and Senoble.

This years event will be hosted by Headmaster, Andrew Gordon-Brown and Former Headmaster,

Paul Smith accompanied by his wife Kathy. Jane Rainbow and Nancy Kenward will also be in

attendance.

The aim of the evening is to meet up with other Former Pupils, chat and enjoy some light refreshment,

with the first drink courtesy of the Development Office. Many of you attending have established careers

in the City or have lived in the London area for a number years. You all have a wealth of knowledge and

experience to share.

involved:

Become a contact to provide up to date industry specific careers advice for Mrs Kenward, as and when questions arise.

Become a Linkedin contact for the Truro School Community and post job

opportunities and offer advice online to current and former pupils. Attend a Business Lunch. These are run throughout the first half of the academic

year and give students from the 5th and 6th Form the opportunity to network with professionals and ask questions in an informal setting.

Providing work experience for a 6th Form student. Mentor a former pupil who has recently left Truro School as they plan their career and

embark on work experience.
