Dear Prospective Prodigy All-Stars Athlete and Parent,
We would like to thank you for your interest in Prodigy All-Stars. We are a family owned and operated
facility. Since we began our all-star cheerleading program, we have enjoyed increasing success with each passing year. In May 2010, Prodigy expanded its’ roots. Merging with another program, CheerNation, we
vastly expanded our staff and talent. Collectively we boast over 20 NCA national titles and hundreds and hundreds of national titles.
Prodigy All-Stars has two first class facilities located in Cypress and Katy, Texas. The Cypress location is a 20,000 sq. ft. cheerleading and tumbling facility. This location has four full size cheer floors, two in-ground trampolines, an in ground tumble track, resi pits and an in-ground rod floor. Our 18,000 sq. ft.
Katy location has three full size cheer floors, an in-ground trampoline and tumble track, resi pits and an above-ground rod floor. We are dedicated to offering a professional staff and a well-structured
organization. Our goal is to provide the best training environment for our athletes while teaching them ideals such as teamwork, integrity, work ethic, commitment and sportsmanship.
The Prodigy staff understands that we are using the tool of all-star cheerleading to shape and develop our athletes into leaders of their peer groups and leaders of tomorrow. A “prodigy” is defined by Webster’s
Dictionary as an individual with exceptional talents. We believe all our athletes have exceptional talents and it is our responsibility to cultivate that talent with our compassion, dedication and knowledge. As coaches we take true PRIDE in the growth of our athletes’ both inside and outside the gym. Although the
coaching staff and training involved is clearly a factor in the success of each team, the PASSION, love and desire to excel is critical for each cheerleader to achieve their goals. We pride ourselves in offering the
environment to ensure this happens.
This packet is designed to give each family the information necessary to decide if they are ready for the
commitment that is required by all-star cheerleading and Prodigy All-Stars. Please take the time to thoroughly read the information, and if you have any questions, please give us a call. Good luck to
everyone, and we look forward to another fantastic and successful year!
Thank you,
Renee’ & Aaron Basham

All-star cheerleading is an exciting sport suitable for the earliest beginner all the way through the most accomplished elite level athlete. All-star cheerleading places an emphasis upon a competition “routine” of
tumbling, dancing, stunting, jumping and motion techniques in a creative, innovative and challenging fashion. Because we feel that all athletes should have the ability to participate and experience the world of all -star cheerleading, Prodigy has designed a detailed curriculum that allows any and everyone who is interested in the
opportunity to participate in the sport. Below is a general outline detailing the programs that Prodigy All-Stars offers.

CHEER TOTS: Cheer Tots is a beginner cheer team designed to introduce the youngest of athletes to the sport of all-star cheerleading. These athletes will purchase a uniform, practice wear, and attend an in-house summer camp.
The Cheer Tots teams are not competitive teams, therefore no evaluation is required. These teams will learn and perform an all-star cheerleading routine. They will perform at Prodigy All Stars annual show-off, as well as
perform at approximately 4 local, regional and/ or national competitions.
If you are interested in signing up for Cheer Tots please contact the cheer office directly to schedule a free trial.
NON-COMPETITIVE TEAMS (April through October): Prodigy All-Stars offers non-competitive all-star cheerleading squads at both the Cypress and Katy location.
These teams will run from April 14th through the Prodigy All Star Show Off in October. The teams are broken down by age. Team Navy is for athletes’ ages 5 to 11 years old. Team Ceil is for athletes’ ages 12 to 18 years
old. These teams are designed to give athletes an introduction into the world of all-star cheerleading. Practices are scheduled for two-hour classes, once a week. Although these are non-competitive squads, the teams will
train under a specific curriculum just as a full competitive team would do. The athletes will work on tumbling, motions, jumps, and dance technique, as well as stunting.
ALL-STAR PREP TEAMS: Prodigy All-Stars was excited to introduce recreational cheerleading in our 2011 season. These teams will run
in two sessions. The first will be August through November and then December through March. The teams will be broken into four different age divisions. These teams are designed to get beginner athletes into the world of competitive cheerleading. Practices are one time a week for 2 hours, with occasional extra practices. Athletes
will be expected to purchase practice wear at the cost of $ 70.00. These teams will attend 2-3 local competitions and can be a great pathway into the world of all-star cheerleading.

We strongly encourage all athletes to try-out with their age group. However, if you have conflicts in your schedule, please contact the
Prodigy All-Stars Cheer Office at 713-PRODIGY or [email protected].
TRY-OUT ATTIRE:
Athletes trying out are asked to wear black shorts, a black or royal t-
shirt or sports bra and tennis shoes. Hair should be pulled back in a high ponytail with a ribbon bow. Each athlete will receive a number upon completion of registration that will need to be worn on his/her t-
shirt/bra during the try-out process.
TRY-OUT APPLICATION:
To sign up for try-outs, pick up an application in the Prodigy All-Stars Cheer Office in Cypress or Katy. Fill out the information, and return
the application prior to try-outs.
TRY-OUT RESULTS:
The results of try-outs will be available at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April
18, 2015. Results will be posted on our website at
www.prodigyallstars.com (please look under the Forms section).
Each athlete will be assigned a number at try-outs. Please be certain
to remember your assigned number as the online results will be
posted accordingly.
RELAX. This will be an enjoyable process. Prodigy All-Stars will ask all athletes to perform 1-2 standing tumbling passes, 1-2 running tumbling passes, jumps, and a jump combination. There will be no cheer or dance required in the try-out process for the 2015 - 2016 season.
Based on our past experiences, spectators at try-outs place unnecessary pressure on the athletes. Therefore, tryouts will be held in closed sessions, and only athletes trying out will be allowed in the Prodigy All-Stars facility during try-out times. This will ensure the most comfortable and safe atmosphere for your athlete(s).

Team Information TEAM FORMATIONS: Athletes will be placed into teams according to appropriate age and skill level. At the
coach’s discretion, some athletes will be placed due to the needs of a particular group. Although teams are 95% complete by this time, parents should EXPECT change and movement in order to form
the most competitive and cohesive teams possible. We must ensure that all athletes can fill the necessary positions that the team will require. We ask parents and athletes to understand that if and when we move an
athlete, we are doing so in the best interest of the athlete and the teams involved. We will finalize teams as of June 15th but as always an athlete’s team may be changed at any point within a season.
Our goal with each team is to “max out” the score sheet. Within the year, a teams’ competition skill level may change. As with the movement of any athlete, there are occasions in which Prodigy All-Stars must reassess
skill levels and/or competition levels of any given team. Prodigy All-Stars reserves a right to change a teams’ competition level and will make this decision as needed throughout the competition year. Again if this occurs,
we are doing so in the best interest of all the athletes and the team. Please note there are no refunds when this occurs.
TEAM PRACTICES: Team Practices will begin as of Monday, April 20, 2015.
As in years past, Prodigy All-Stars expects to have some teams that will be scheduled for practices with one
practice on a Sunday and one practice during the week. However, during the time period of April 14th through August 1st, all teams will practice on week days only (Monday – Friday). Starting August 2, 2015, we will
resume Sunday practices. In addition to this, parents and athletes should expect split practices between our main facility in Cypress, Texas
and our second facility in Katy, Texas. The only teams we do not expect to have split practices are as follows: Cheer Tots, level 1 and level 2 teams (mini level 2 is a Cypress only team). These teams will have practice (s)
at one location only (either Cypress or Katy). Please note that during certain parts of the season the parent viewing area may close to spectators. We apologize for any inconvenience however; our goal is to provide our
athletes the most focused atmosphere possible. The final determination and practice schedules will be made after try-outs.

As the sport continues to progress, the skills demanded of the flyers at every level are increasing. Flexibility,
strength, and balance are crucial to the position. These athletes need a specific workout geared toward flying technique that is not needed by the other athletes. Because of this, there is an additional one hour mandatory
class for all flyers on competitive teams. The day and time for these classes are to be determined. The cost of the mandatory flyer class is $25.00 per month and will be added to your account when classes begin. If your athlete
is selected to be a flyer, you will be notified through email.
FLYER CLASSES:
There is an annual Prodigy All-Stars registration fee of $55.00. This includes two Prodigy All-Stars t-shirts for the athlete, and one car decal. ATTENDANCE
Extra/Extended Practices: It is normal for teams to be scheduled for extra and/or extended practices
throughout the year. At the time of registration you will be given our Prodigy All-Stars “Year at a Glance”. This
handout will have extra practice weekends blocked off for you to reserve. You will also receive extra and/or
extended practice notifications through e-mail from Prodigy All-Stars directly and the team mom. The majority
of the extra and/or extended practices will be called during national season (November through March). Extra
and/or extended practices are crucial to our overall training program. Attendance is crucial for these practices,
as we are typically training the routine as a whole and making changes to the routine. To make these practices
effective we need FULL attendance therefore extra and/or extended practices are MANDATORY.
Vacations: Please plan any summer vacation(s) so they do not conflict with the camp dates posted in this
packet. We also ask that winter vacations are planned during the holiday break. For your convenience,
vacation forms are available in the Prodigy All-Stars Cheer Office. Please turn in your form prior to your
vacation to aid the coaches in planning their workouts accordingly. Please note that tuition holds your athletes
spot on their team and therefore cannot be prorated due to vacation, no matter the length.

Attendance Policy: Once placed on a Prodigy All-Stars team, it is your
responsibility to attend ALL practices. Due to the unique team aspect of all-star
cheerleading, the absence of just one athlete can hinder the effectiveness of
practice for the entire team. Therefore, all practices are mandatory. Athletes
will be allotted 2 TOTAL absences from the month of April through May, and
then 5 TOTAL absences from the month of August through the end of season.
Any cheerleader not at practice the full week before a regional competition
(August – December), may be removed from that competition. Any
cheerleader not at practice the full two weeks before national competition
(January – April), may be removed from the competition. These weeks will be
referred to as Blackout Zones on your “Year at a Glance”. Athletes that
participate in school cheerleading will be allowed 3 absences due to school
cheer. However, this does NOT apply to a competition week/Blackout Zone.
We ask that you plan your demerits accordingly. All other school activities will
count towards the 5/7 absence rule. Please note we have an additional
Blackout Zone the week of December 14th - 17th as well as the week before
your athlete’s choreography camp. In order for it to be effective we need ALL
of our athletes at practice.
We understand extenuating circumstances and those will be handled on a
case-by-case basis.

Competition- It’s Go Time:
Athlete Attire at Competitions:
Please remind your athlete that while at the competition he/she is representing Prodigy All-Stars and they need
to respect the Prodigy rules. When arriving at competition athletes MUST arrive in full competition style hair and make-up. Athletes may wear any of the following options: FULL PA warm up (please note Prodigy warm-ups are the ONLY warm-ups allowed), FULL uniform, Prodigy t-shirt or sweat suit. The only Ugg boots you may
walk around in your competition uniform with are the PA Uggs. If you have won a NCA jacket you may wear it but no other National jackets are allowed. NO random clothes, pj pants or competition spirit attire will be
allowed.
Stay to Play / Hotels (NEW):
There will be 2-4 out of town competitions that will require a 1-3 night hotel stay. Prodigy All Stars will reserve a block of hotel rooms for all athletes and families through a housing company. It is MANDATORY for all athletes
to stay within the Prodigy All Stars hotel block for all out of town competitions. We will be required to submit a listing of all our athletes and where they are staying in order to be compliant for those specific competitions.
This is a competition requirement and PA does not receive any financial benefit from this program. If an athlete is not registered through a required housing company they will NOT be eligible to compete. All families will have till September 30th to make their housing reservations. Most if not all hotel properties will fill up months in
advance, so please plan accordingly.
Parents will be emailed information regarding the block in order to call and book a reservation. Hotels are
booked individually by all parents via a credit card. Look for an email towards the beginning of the summer to book your families reservation.
Prodigy All Stars sincerely hopes we have answered any questions you may have had, but should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to call or email us at 713-
PRODIDY & prodigyallstars.com. We hope to see you soon!
Thank You,

COMPETITION INFORMATION
Competitions are an exciting time for all our athletes and coaches. They provide a chance for the athletes to showcase their routine and compete with other programs in
the industry. We participate in 3-4 regional competitions and 3-4 national competitions. Most regional competitions are held within Houston and the surrounding area.
National competitions are typically in Dallas, New Orleans, and for our upper level teams as far as Atlanta. These will require travel out of town and a one or two night
stay in a hotel. The competition schedule and fees will be finalized by June 15th. Please note last minute changes may occur and competitions can either be added or pulled from the schedule.
PLEASE NOTE: Most national competition schedules include a Friday and / or
Monday competition time. This will require a parent to miss work and the athlete to miss school.
