E ach year around this time I lead a team to India. This year is no different and I am taking a wonderful team who has sacrificed time and money to proclaim Christ in the villages of India. Often, as I am with the group, I get this small voice in my head that says “You’re fooling yourself if you think you are making a difference. What are you doing here?” The voice makes me consider whether all the time and money is worth it. I mean, 10 days and $2,500 dollars all to try and communicate with a people whose language I don’t speak and whose culture I really don’t understand. I always wonder if we wouldn’t be better off just sending the money rather than a team. Do the math - 8 people times $2,500 and then the ground costs for the events we do….Then I am reminded by a still voice inside me that Christ came to me. He paid a price in person, He didn’t write me a check and tell me to go pick it up if I wanted salvation. He came in person and demonstrated the love behind the sacrifice. He spent years here and left the riches of Heaven to communicate with people who would not listen and yet His mission was worth it. As a mission team we can’t die for the villagers or the people in the cities where we will be, but we can allow God’s love to shine through us. Why Go? Because He came. See you Sunday. Getting Ready to Sacrifice JUST A REMINDER: November is one of the most important times of the year at TBC. November is a time when we fast, pray and seek God out. On the weekend before Thanksgiving we will take up our special Sacrificial Offering. Last year we collected $78,742.00. My prayer is that this year we will take up the greatest offering in the history of our church. To do that will require that everyone sacrifice something over these next few weeks leading up to the service. Start thinking now about what you will sacrifice and praying about what you can give. This offering goes toward our overall budget and allows us to continue to minister as we have been doing but more importantly it allows us to look forward to potential new areas where we’d like to minister (I’ll say more about those next time). In the mean time—think sacrifice! Pastor Eddie Jn 3:30 Children’s Discovery Classes!
