Lunch is scheduled during 3 rd period for 7 th graders. Slide 9 Math all students are placed in an advanced math class In May, all 6 th graders will take a pre-algebra test. Based on that assessment, students will be placed into the appropriate level of math for 7 th grade: Algebra Pre-Algebra (8 th grade math) over 1 year Pre-Algebra over 2 years Slide 10 Language Arts All language arts is accelerated and organized into units of study. Co-teaching Additional language arts and math classes based on ISTEP/Star scores Slide 12 XL Science Inquiry-based approach Discovery Education: interactive, technology-based content to coordinate with inquiry units Achieve 3000: technology- based, science articles differentiated to a students reading level. Slide 13 Social Studies Students study Asia, Africa and Middle East through primary sources, projects and literature. Each classroom is equipped with White Boards, electronic responders and each student has a laptop computer. Students need to select enough classes to fill three periods. No class can be selected more than once, unless the student intends to select two different band or orchestra instruments.
