AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS 2019 FINAL UPDATE - 30TH SEPTEMBER

Welcome to the 2019 Touch Rugby League Australian Championships.

Congratulations on your selection and representation at this year's event. You are a critical aspect of the growth and expansion our sport is experiencing and this success is on show with 71 teams representing the regions in which our sport is played across Australia.

The Australian Championships is the pinnacle of our sport and this has never been more evident than with 234 games to be played over three days of competition, this long weekend. We are humbled by the support for our game and what it means to thousands of players across Australia!

I hope the Championships weekend is memorable both on and off the field for all players and spectators. Wear your jerseys with pride and relish what will be an event to remember!

This Final Update provides all the crucial information you and your fellow team mates need, before taking the field on Friday night.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

ANNOUNCEMENT No matter what region TRL is played, we acknowledge that it’s what happens both on and off the field that makes our sport what it is today.

For the first time in a TRL representative event, a Club Champion will be awarded to recognise and celebrate the best of TRL, both on and off the field.

The Club Championship will be awarded to the region with the highest number of points, at the Closing Ceremony on Day 3 of the Championships.

Points can be accrued through multiple game and non-game related manners - as outlined on the next two pages of this publication.

LIVE Club Championship Standings will be available throughout the Championships.

REGISTRATION

REQUIREMENT All players are required to REGISTER online to play in the 2019 TRL Australian Championships.

Registration is completed for three reasons:

1. To ensure that all players are covered by the TRL Australia Standard Insurance Policy; 2. TRL Australia is aware of the team lists for all teams and furthermore; 3. All players comply with the Eligibility Rule of playing for the region they are

representing in either the Winter and/or Spring 2019 seasons.

REGISTRATION must be completed by Thursday 3rd October, 6:00pm.

Registration Process:

1. Every player must go to the following link: https://www.trl.com.au/spawtz-player-registrations/  

2. Choose ‘North Brisbane’ - the region where the Championships is being held;

3. Under ‘Team Name’, type in your team’s name as per the table to the right of this page;

4. Click ‘Join This Team’;

5. Please select the ‘check box’ and ‘Join This Team’;

6. You’ll then receive the following message in a green box:

“Your request to join this team has been sent to the organisers of the team. You will receive an email when they accept or reject your request.”

You have successfully completed the Registration process when you’ve reached Step 6.

AFTER PARTY

ANNOUNCEMENT The Official After Party will commence post Closing Ceremony on Day 3 of the Championships (Sunday 6th October) for TRLAC 2019 players.

DATE: Sunday 6th October TIME: 1:30pm (Conclusion of Closing Ceremony) till 5:00pm VENUE: Norths Rugby Club (Clubhouse next to Field 1) DRINKS: A wide variety of beer, wine and spirits will be available. ATTIRE: Closed in shoes are required. Playing/non-playing singlets and shorts/tights are allowed.

TRL will be providing subsided drinks for this event. More information to be released regarding these specials!

The function will officially finish at 5:00pm and all players are welcome to enjoy the evening in Brisbane City.

Please feel free to refer to the TRL Player’s Guide to Brisbane for ideas and recommendations of hotspots to visit and experience.

WHAT YOU CAN BYO

- Marquees. There will be designated areas whereby marquees can be set up. Pegs are allowed;

- Food and non-alcoholic beverages. There will be a vast array of food offerings available including the Norths Rugby Union & Valley Hockey Clubs canteens, food trucks, coffee vans, Boost Juice and more.

WHAT YOU CAN’T BYO

- No player, spectator and/or member of the general public is allowed to bring alcohol into Norths Rugby Union & Valley Hockey Club complexes. There will be designated areas at these venues whereby the consumption of alcohol can take place; and

- Please note that uniformed and plain-clothed police and other authorities will be conducting event checks throughout the weekend to ensure the safety of all players, spectators and members of the public.

UPDATE All uniforms are arriving at TRL HQ in advance of the Championships commencing on October 4.

Your Region Manager is being updated daily this week and will be advised when your region’s uniforms arrive. Please await updates from them directly regarding collection of uniforms.

TWO POINT KICK TRIES

REMINDER Two-point kick tries will be in play at the 2019 TRL Australian Championships.

Any try scored as a direct result of a kick (not passed) will be awarded 2 points. This includes AFL tries and women’s tries – they will not compound.
