    ewell Meadows agship animals are elk. Mid-eptember is the peak of the breeding season or rutor elk. Visitors to Jewell Meadows may hear bullsugling, emitting a high-pitched whistle that the bulls

    use to establish their dominance over other bulls andhe herd. While elk are the most viewed wildlife atewell Meadows, many other animals favor the habitatrovided and are visible to the patient observer. After alleveral state and federally-listed threatened, candidater species of concern are found at Jewell Meadows

    ncluding Northern spotted owls, bald eagles, band-ailed pigeons and Northern red-legged frogs.
