This morning I enjoyed seeing the Facebook postings of my grandchildren’s first day of school. The oldest is heading into 6 th grade. How did that happen? Their summers have been full of camping at Bear Creek, Music Camp, Confirmation Camp, and family vacations. Just this past week Bruce and I took the kids to see their 90 year old Great-Grandpa in Cincinnati. It was a two melt-down trip. At one point we had to “Stop the car!” and had three of the five sitting on a parking lot curb crying out their frustrations. After the weeping turned to hiccupping, we went for a walk, took deep breaths, and began to race back and forth through the grassy lawn of a closed bank. All was well . . . for a while at least. The thing is, vacation with kids is anything but calm. Like wild horses they scampered through the halls and rooms of Grandpa’s house snorting, whinnying (or was that whining), slept, ate, and played some more. For the adults it was crazy, wild, and wonderful. Our Cincinnati days shared with family and all their ups and downs was unparalleled and grace-filled. It is why I like to call those moments of love and craziness: Holy Chaos. Sunday, September 16 th , is going to be a Sunday of Holy Chaos. Rally Day, Blessing of the Animals, Preschool Sunday, and Teacher Installation will all roll into one big crazy, magnificent worship experience. Our theme will be Noah’s Ark—a perfect example of Holy Chaos—we will hear the story of Noah’s Holy Zoo splashing to safety in the waters of God’s saving grace. I can only imagine the Holy Chaos of the ark’s screeching, bellowing, bleating, roaring, smelly, rocking adventure. Perhaps we will get a taste of what that’s like when we bring together all of our Sunday School and Preschool kids and families, along with a menagerie of beloved pet companions. The bell choir is going to “Ring-a-Story of Noah’s Ark.” There will be barking, mewing, crying, whining, and glorious laughter as God’s love and mercy pours out upon us all—human and beast alike. It will be a time of worship and chaos. It will be a holy time. Peace and grace, Pr. Julie 1

HOLYCHAOS(Holy Chaos)

Summertime is winding down and the kids are going back to school. This morning I enjoyed seeing the Facebook postings of my grandchildren’s first day of school. The oldest is heading into 6th grade. How did that happen? Their summers have been full of camping at Bear Creek, Music Camp, Confirmation Camp, and family vacations. The thing is, vacation with kids is anything but calm. Like wild horses they scampered through the halls and rooms of Grandpa’s house snorting, whinnying (or was that whining), slept, ate, and played some more. PARKING ALERT!! Pastor and council are aware of the abandoned cars in the S. Walnut St. Parking Lot. We are working on resolving this situation using due process but it will take a little time. We are seeking legal advice on how to handle this situation. We can do our part by remembering to use both of our parking lots on Sunday mornings. Please do not park in front of our neighbors’ houses on the street as they are asked to NOT park in our lots on

Sunday morning. They must park in front of their own homes and if we are parked there our neighbors cannot do what we are asking them to do. As followers of Jesus we want to be good neighbors so we must be vigilant about where we park. There will continue to be Handicapped Spaces in front of the church on Sunday mornings. Hopefully this situation will be resolved sooner rather than later. In Christ all things are possible, Pastor Julie

Thank you to everyone who helped make our Festival a success this year. The Strawberry Festival Task Force included: Baked Goods–Sue Sickler, Books/Media-Mary Nace, Coordinator & Entertainment –Betty Lou Franzen, Council liaison–Susan Coleman, Finance–Barbara Debiec, Food–Beth Byler/Kay Stout, Games–Barbara Debiec, Jewelry/Plants–Kathy Bashore, Property–Wendell Byler/Kevin Kurtz, Publicity--Bob Bashore, Raffles–Connie Fritz, Scouts--Darlene Gemmell, Strawberries & Volunteers–Anne Marie Rinehimer / Mary Young, Hospitality (Preschool) Tent--Betty Lou Franzen/Lori Shoumlisky, Trinity Tent--Pastor Julie. Festival day Saturday June 9, 2018 weather was sunny and hot with a refreshing, but not overpowering breeze. Attendance was good, steadily increasing by the supper hour. A new food addition this year was the Taco in a Bag which was purchased by about 30 adventurous people. Entertainment was provided by Block Party at 3:00 pm and The Trinity Sunday School Orchestra at 5:45 pm. Our net profits of $1974.66, a decrease of $320.85 compared to last year, resulted in that contribution to the Trinity Community Response Fund which will be distributed by the Social Ministry committee as community needs arise. Next year’s festival is scheduled for Saturday June 8, 2019; rain date Sunday June 9, 2019, with a time of 3:00 to 7:00 pm. Betty Lou Franzen A sincere thank you to all of you who participated in the summer music program-the bell ringers, the singers, and the musicians. It was a truly memorable gift of music. Nancy Moyer

Church Council Highlights for August

• Discussed debt retirement-mortgage will be paid off within the next 6 to 9 months. • Discussed making people aware of Thrivent Choice Dollars and Thrivent Action Team Grants. • It was suggested we look into Amazon Smile as a way of directing dollars to Trinity. • Members need to be aware that they should not park on the street in front of people’s homes on

Sunday but rather use the parking lots and designated handicapped spots in front of the church. • VBS and Music Camp were both very successful and well attended.

Mission Team Needed for 110 S. Walnut St. We are looking for a team of people who would be willing to involve themselves in some local mission work right here on S. Walnut Street. This mission “trip” would involve some minor work projects involving our rental properties. This team will set their own work dates and times. Rental Management will let you know what projects must be done. If you have any friends that would be interested in this type of mission opportunity we would love their help. The projects will be similar to the kind of projects done through St. Vincent’s in David, KY where our Mission Possible Teams have traveled and Sr. Kathleen spoke about this past June. If interested there is a sign up in the Narthex.
