This weekend on Trinity Sunday,

we recite the Athanasian Creed.

The diagrams above vividly illustrate the teaching of

Catholic Doctrine of the Holy Trinity by St. Athanasius from the Nicean Council in 325 AD:

“...there are not three almightys,

but one almighty: thus the Father is God,

the Son is God, the Holy Spirit is God;

and nevertheless there are not three gods, but there is ONE GOD.”

Campaign to Run from Mother’s Day to Father’s Day

The annual Knights of Columbus pro-life fundraiser will kick off on Mother’s Day weekend with the distribution of empty baby bottles. Parishioners are asked to return them, filled with cash or checks on Father’s Day weekend.

Donations will be given to a local pregnancy resource center. Last year parishioners donated over $1,000 to benefit Good Counsel Home/SJ for pregnant women and their children who are homeless.

So as we celebrate these two holidays and honor the mothers and fathers in our lives, let’s also remember those parents who reject the temptation of abortion and now need our support as they choose life for their babies.

LESSON TWENTY-SIXTH:

On Matrimony

Q. 1009. What is the outward sign in the Sacrament of Matrimony, and in what does the whole essence of the marriage contract consist?

A. The outward sign in the Sacrament of matrimony is the mutual consent of the persons, expressed by words or signs in accordance with the laws of the Church. The whole essence of the marriage contract consists in the surrender by the persons of their bodies to each other and in declaring by word or sign that they make this surrender and take each other for husband and wife now and for life.

Q. 1010. What are the chief ends of the Sacrament of Matrimony?

A. The chief ends of the Sacrament of matrimony are:

1. To enable the husband and wife to aid each other in securing the salvation of their souls;

2. To propagate or keep up the existence of the human race by bringing children into the world to serve God;

3. To prevent sins against the holy virtue of purity by faithfully obeying the laws of the marriage state.

DRESS CODE We want to foster the greatest reverence and respect for Our Lord at Mater Ecclesiae. Our attire is an outward expression of our love for the Lord and shows how important He is to us. It is also a sign of our respect for the House of God. Therefore, one should always wear their “Sunday Best” to Mass: modesty, good taste and common sense should prevail. Accordingly, the following rules apply:

• NO SHORTS, EVER, FOR MEN, WOMEN OR CHILDREN.

• Women: No revealing clothing, low necklines, short skirts or bare midriffs. Please dress modestly with dignity and self-respect. We suggest that women wear a head covering.

• Men: No tattered, soiled work clothes, old jeans or gym clothes. Please wear “business or business casual attire” to set a good example for our young men and boys.
