“THINK PIECE”

Let's think for a minute about where your hard-earned money goes when you put it in to the offering plate, or mail it in to the church office.

We recently had a wonderful All-Daughter banquet. Almost 320 women packed Jack's Place and had a delightful evening. It took over 40 male volunteers to set up, serve, and clean up! As one woman, not a member of our congregation said, "Our church couldn't do something like this. We just don't have the male volunteers!" Someone has to recruit all those men and organize their serv-ing. Pastor Jeff, a paid staff person, does that. Dawn Forbes, another paid staff person, starts All-Daughter planning months before. In fact she's well into planning for Bible School, which will minis-ter to over 350 children, using many volunteers. At that Bible School we'll have about 50 Middle School students. Unprecedented! We added a small Middle School Bible School years ago simply to "hold" the 5th and 6th graders. It has grown in to a huge, happy week called ViBE.....under the direction of paid staff person Nate Ediger and 12 volunteers.

So....the next time you give to Trinity don't simply think, "There goes my hard-earned money." Think, "I'm ministering to children, teens (from our congregation and from the community), the women of our congregation, to all of us through Mr. Marenchin's work with 13 choirs, and lots more.” Over half of your contribution goes to make sure we have staff members to organize the lit-erally hundreds of volunteers who do ministry at Trinity.

Thank you volunteering and thank you for your giving!

In Christ,

Pastor Mitchell

2013 All Daughter Banquet a Success!

Special thanks to all the people who made this year’s All Daughter banquet a success. Nearly 320 women and girls attended our Wedding Memories banquet. Thanks to Women’s Ministries Planning Board for their dedication to this ministry: Beth Davis, Diane Frank, Penny Hamilton, Vella King, Kathy Shelly, Wendy Shreffler, Becky Swartz, and Kim Tanner. In addition, we had lots of volunteer help—Thank you to: the guys who helped Randy Smith with the set up (and re-set) of the tables and chairs...the ladies who helped decorate...Hannah & Natalie Shreffler, who seem to be honorary members of the planning board...Cheryl Hildebrand, who helped with lots of details involved in the hallway display...our Trinity guys, led by Pastor Jeff, who did a marvelous job making sure everyone was well fed and happy...Michelle Gillette, of Maurer Photography, who did a fabulous job of taking pictures of our event. If you haven't seen the photos, go to www.maurerphotography.com (password TLCDaughters). -- Dawn Forbes

FYI... TIMELY ANNOUNCEMENTS: We have an arrangement with the Post Office that allows our mem-bers in the 44805 zip code to receive This Week at Trinity the day after it is mailed. Some folks out-side that zip code don't get it until the following week. That's OK with some, because they read it online. For the others, if you live close enough to be involved in the activities listed each week, please let us know and we'll send yours first class. That way, even if you are outside the 44805 zip code, you'll get it before the weekend.

SEND A CHILD TO VBS! We’re watching our budget very carefully again this year, but Bible School is still one of the most expensive children’s ministries opportunities we provide at Trinity. We want to keep the qual-ity, cut the fluff, and make it something that children will take with them for many years to come. Would you be willing to sponsor a VBS child for $10.00? This sponsorship will cover the hands-on materials that each child gets to take home all week. If this is something you would consider, please contact Dawn Forbes at 419-289-2126 for more information.

VBS PRAYERS NEEDED! This year we are putting out a concentrated effort to pray about VBS, the participants, staff, and all those who come into the building during that week. There is a prayer calendar on our website. Please go to the Trinity home page and click on VBS Prayer Calendar and pray for this year’s program.

JOB OPPORTUNITIES: Peggy Bostic, of our congregation, notified us that there will be a Job Fair at her office on Tuesday May 14, from 9 am to 3 pm (Ashland County Job and Family Services, 15 West 4th Street, Ashland). To college and high school students at Trinity: Job and Family services has "lots" of summer job openings. If you are interested call Peggy Bostic at 419-282-5052.

A kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they drew. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's artwork. As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was. The girl replied, "I'm drawing God." The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like." Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the little girl replied, "They will in a minute."
