FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS ATTEND SUPERSTART April 12 and 13, Miss Bekermeier took 14 5th grade students to a Christ In Youth (CIY) conference for pre-teens called “SuperStart” in Naperville, IL . Students participated in three sessions of live worship, small groups, and messages taught through interactive theater. This year, the theme was entitled “Conquering Gargantor,” as each session focused on overcoming obstacles to sharing your “story” or testimony. Throughout this conference the students learned that it is essential to recognize the ways God works in our lives. The theme verse for the conference was from Psalm 105:1, “Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim His greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done.” When we recognize what Christ has done for us and share those stories with others, we begin to point them to Jesus. SuperStart encouraged the students to overcome their fears of sharing their stories and helped them recognize why it is important to share their stories. For the activity portion of the conference, students went to Miss Bekermeier’s brother and sister-in-law’s house for a time of fellowship that included a cake decorating contest, whiffle ball and fun games outside, lots of food, and other team-building activities. It was a great weekend for the fifth graders to grow in their faith and relationships.

Chapel Notes, by Ava K., Guest Contributor to the Son Times

Special Guests: Eighth Grade Students Guest Speaker: Mr. Chris Bekermeier Sr.

Easter is a time to celebrate Jesus. He has conquered death. Which is more important during Easter, Good Friday, or

Resurrection Sunday? Well, put it this way. On a plane, what is more important? The right wing, or the left wing? Both!

They are both equally important and there wouldn’t be a plane without one. We all need to change something about

ourselves. Some people don’t want to change, because changing is a long and bumpy process. There is power in things. For

example, there is power in a donut to draw you in, to make your mouth water and make you want that donut. God gives you

the power to say no you don’t want that donut, or no, that isn’t right, when something isn’t right for someone to say about

someone else. And that power comes into play every day. It comes into play during failure or unrighteousness. It’s the way

of the cross. You have to be changed to get that power. You will be changed, and the whole world will be changed because

of you.
