Trinity Catholic Primary School is committed to providing an education that develops the whole person.

We believe that the social, emotional, moral, spiritual and physical wellbeing of our students

is pivotal to student health, safety, learning and success.

Caritas Just Leadership Day

Yesterday Trinity’s School Leaders and Social Justice Leaders had the privilege of attending the Caritas Just Leadership Day. Just Leadership Days enable students to develop a respect for the poor and sense of responsibility as a global citizen. The students will share their learning with the rest of the school over the coming week, focusing on how each one of them can make a difference in the life of someone less fortunate.

2018 Enrolments

We are anticipating that we will once again be under enrolment pressure in 2018. Existing families within the school have first priority on Foundation (Prep) enrolment places. If you have a sibling coming in 2018 we are taking enrolment forms now. If your form is handed in after the 31st of March you cannot be guaranteed a place, forms are available at the Office.

For new families in 2018 our enrolment process will be in May.

Upcoming Dates

Free Dress Day – Friday the 24th of March if the children bring Easter Egg donations for the Parents and Friends Easter Raffle.

School Photos – Monday the 27th of March. More details in this newsletter.

FOUNDATION ENROLMENT FOR 2018

SCHOOL FAMILIES ONLY

Enrolment forms for school families only are now available for collection from the School Office.

Applications need to be returned by Friday 21st April so that we can then offer any remaining places to the wider community.

TRINITY ATHLETICS CARNIVAL 2017 FOUNDATION-YEAR 6 WEDNESDAY 26TH APRIL, 2017

Permission forms for our Athletics day went home yesterday. On the second page there is an error with the date, stating the Athletics to be held on Wednesday 26th March, 2017 and should be Wednesday 26th April, 2017. We have included the corrected page in this newsletter for you to sign and return, we will also send a new form (different colour) out tomorrow. We apologise for any in-convenience and thank you for your co-operation.

CARITAS JUST LEADERSHIP DAY

Just Leadership Days enable students to develop a respect for the poor and sense of

responsibility as a global citizen. Yesterday Trinity’s six School Leaders and three Social Justice Leaders had the privilege of at-

tending the Caritas Just Leadership Day. Caritas organises the Just Leadership Day to engage students with social justice issues, and to en-courage them to be just leaders. The day in-

volved the students working together with the school leaders from St Patrick’s in Pakenham

and Mary MacKillop in Narre Warren North. The students were encouraged to “step up” and be a leader that can make a difference to the world. Megan from Caritas Australia actively engaged the students in a process that helped them to recognise that they have the resources, the

power and the responsibility to work for change in our world. The students will share their expe-riences with the school over the next week, pro-

moting Project Compassion in the classroom.

SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT

Matthew 17:1-9 Reflection:

In today's Gospel we are introduced to the story of the transfiguration of Je-sus. God reveals to the disciples that Jesus is his son. God loves him, and

we should listen to him. Jesus was showing his disciples a pre-view of what salvation would be like. We can listen to Jesus by reading the Bible, listening to our teachers and by

good thoughts and deeds. Possible discussion:

What are your favourite quiet places? What sort of things do you like to do in

your quiet place? Quiet places can be very good for

praying. Take a moment to think of when you can go to your quiet place this week.

What or who can you pray for?

Kathryn Pepper Religious Education Leader / Student Support

MAY 2017

Year 6 students from Trinity Primary School have recently undertaken an education tour of the National Capital. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia's history, culture, heritage and democracy. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the National Capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $30 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.

CHILD SAFE STANDARDS WORKING WITH CHILDREN

Trinity has zero tolerance towards child abuse and is therefore committed to complying with the Victorian Child Safe Standards and Ministerial Order 870. All parents/Guardians wishing to help in the classroom, canteen or attend excursions MUST have completed the PARENT HELPER WORKSHOP and hold a current WORKING WITH CHILDREN CARD.

Further details are available from the school office. All parent/guardian helpers must sign in at the office before proceeding to the classrooms. Your current Working with Children card must be displayed at all times when working in the classrooms and attending excursions.

A reminder to all Parents/Carers, supervision by School Staff begins at 8.30am before school and after school only at the drop

off area until 3.30pm.

Please observe and supervise your children, as they play on the equipment.

Thank you for your co-operation

TRINITY CAR PARK ETIQUETTE For greater safety and visibility, we are requesting that all

drivers reverse park into the marked bays.

Thank you all who use the pedestrian crossing area. You are demonstrating to your children correct road safety practices. Once children cross the pedestrian crossing into the parking area, they, for their safety, need to be placed into vehicles promptly. The car park is NOT a meeting area.

The lane around the edge of the car park (closest to the oval) are for vehicles waiting to pick children up from the Pick-up Zone ONLY.

The two parking bays closest to the office path are the PICK-UP ZONES. These are NO STANDING zones. I f your children are not ready to get into your car as you pull up to the pick-up zone, you must continue on and rejoin the end of the pick-up queue.

There is NO RIGHT TURN when exiting the car park. All vehicles must turn left for the safety of others and to maintain traffic flow.

THE GATES CLOSE AT 9.00am AND RE-OPEN AT 3.00pm. Occasionally they might re-open slightly later due to school activities.

Thank you for your patience and consideration of others.

14th March, 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Trinity Athletics Carnival will be upon us again early in term two, Wednesday 26th April, 2017. The students have begun preparing for the various track, field and novelty events in the Physical Education classes.

All students will travel by bus to and from Casey Fields Regional Athletics Centre, 160 Berwick-Cranbourne Road, Cranbourne East. The travel route w ill be Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road, Berwick-Cranbourne Road and Casey Fields Boulevard to the venue.

All students are expected to participate on the day, however, if for any reason (e.g. injury or family reasons) your child cannot participate, please inform your child’s class teacher in writing. This information will help the day run more smoothly as many hours are spent organizing teams and events so that all students are involved.

The students are to wear their sports uniform, house colour t-shirt and runners. They will need to bring their snack, lunch, drink bottle, sunscreen and jacket (depending on the weather) in a school/sport bag. Please ensure your child has plenty of water to drink as there are no drinking taps available.

The students enjoy having as many spectators as possible, so feel free to come along and cheer them on! However, all spectators must remain behind the viewing fence at all times.

Please complete the attached permission form and return it to your child’s class teacher by Thursday 30th March, 2017.

In order for this day to be possible, we will require a substantial amount of helpers. If you are available to assist on this day, hold a current Working With Children Card and have attended a Parent Helper Workshop, could you please fill in the below form and return it to the office by Thursday 30th March, 2017.
