Trinity Baptist Church exists to proclaim Christ and make disciples of those who claim Christ, all for the glory of Christ. December 2014 TBC Discovery Dear Church Family, It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if mail carriers really dislike this time of year, and not primarily because of the weather. Just think about the amount of mail that has to be delivered. I wonder how many additional pounds of mail will be sorted and carried during the holiday season. While we all love Christmas cards from friends and family, for every personal card, we can count on at least 5 impersonal pieces of mail, some of which we may classify as junk mail. Think about how much of the mail you receive during this time of year that is either a veiled or direct plea for money. The options and invitations to spend money are never-ending. Certainly we are not the only household that receives multiple store advertisements, sale papers, and big savings promotions. If we are honest, sometimes these items will catch our attention. However, not every appeal for money falls into this category. The end of the year is the time that non-profit organizations, ministries, and missionaries have found it effective to ask for money. Many people are looking for something worthwhile to invest in (and tax deductions don’t hurt either). continued

Dear Church Family, It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if mail carriers really dislike this time of year, and not primarily because of the weather. Too often, I’m afraid, we end up giving God our leftovers when it comes to money. That is, after we’ve spent more than we can afford on ourselves, our families, and our friends - purchasing things that will soon fade away (or be thrown away) - then we decide to give a percentage of what is left for gospel-centered, Kingdom-focused initiatives. I want to challenge you to give prayerful consideration as to how you will invest the money God has entrusted to you this holiday season. Jesus warns us not to lay up for ourselves treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but to lay up for ourselves treasures in heaven. He also tells us, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Mathew 6:19-21).

While there are many worthwhile ministries that you may be asked to support in the next several weeks, I’m asking you to invest in two things specifically. First, on December 14, we will host our annual March for Missions to support Southern Baptist Missions and Missionaries. Our goal this year is $175,000. The only way that we will be able to reach such a goal is if we follow God’s call to give generously and sacrificially for the sake of the gospel. Secondly, I’m asking you to invest into the ministries of your church home. I believe that among us we have all the funds necessary to accomplish the ministry that God has for us. However, as it stands, we are running a substantial deficit in 2014. Depending on giving in the month of November, it is not unlikely that we will enter the final month of the year with a deficit exceeding $75,000 when all things are considered. Given this deficit, we have already determined to reduce the budget for 2015. In the transitioning nature of our church, our goal is to make wise decisions with ministry involvement and financial obligations. The way that we choose to invest the resources that God has entrusted to us directly affects those decisions. May we be a people who are gospel-centered and Kingdom-focused in our giving! Nate

2014 March for Missions His Heart...His Hands...His Voice

During the holiday season, TBC focuses on our missions offerings for the entire year. Those offerings are Lottie Moon International

Christmas Offering, Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, and Mary Hill Davis Offering for Texas Missions. This year on Sunday, December 14, we will March for Missions in our morning worship services. As

we celebrate God’s grace in Christ, families will have the opportunity to bring their offerings forward. We will accept offerings throughout the holiday season; however, we encourage you to join the church in an act of solidarity to show your commitment for missions and the

gospel, on Sunday December 14. Please begin praying that God will give you a heart of sacrifice and generosity to help

reach the world for Jesus.

Operation Christmas Child This year First Friends Preschool at TBC participated in Operation Christmas Child. Children brought items to donate and were able to fill 41 Christmas boxes! They were able to pray over the boxes before delivering them to a pick-up site where they will be sorted and shipped. These boxes will be sent around the world with the gospel message. Even the littlest ones can be a part of the Gospel reaching the nations!

TBC Missions In Acts 1:8, Jesus says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Recently, the TBC Missions office requested information through Sunday School classes as well as a bulletin insert, regarding where Trinity Baptist Church members are serving in local missions. Below you see listed some fifty-four (54) ministries where you told us you're presently serving. Plus, I know there are probably even more ministries which are served by our members. This list shows that our Lord has placed many needs on the hearts of the Body at Trinity Baptist, and it shows you are responding. I believe this list exemplifies your hearts as ambassadors for the cause of Christ right here in our “Jerusalem.” So, today I want to thank you for your commitment to care for and serve the Amarillo Area in the name of Christ.
