Wednesday, April 29
Wednesday, May 6 7:30pm—8:45pm each night; childcare provided by reservation Only 4 Sunday morning worship leadership times:
Sunday, April 26, 8:30am & 11:00am
Sunday, May 10, 8:30am & 11:00am The Worship Choir is open to everyone: no auditions necessary. We have choir members with all kinds of musical backgrounds—from beginners to those with years of formal training. -Don’t read music? No problem. We’ll teach you everything you need to know. The primary qualifications are a heart to worship the Lord and the ability to carry a tune. - Intimidated about coming into a new group? Don’t be! Our choir members are super-friendly. We love having new faces, and our people will meet and greet you, help you find the right place to sit, and help you find the right sheet music and resources you’ll need to participate.
A friend of mine (who is not in ministry) affectionately refers to Easter Sunday as the Church’s Super Bowl Sunday. In a sense, I guess he’s right. Churches all across America will experience a spike in attendance on Easter Sunday.
As far as dates on the Christian calendar go, certainly Resurrection Sunday is one of the most important. While we talk about the cross on a regular basis (and rightfully so), too often we forget to emphasize the empty tomb. Yes, we must tell people that Jesus died for our sins, but let’s not forget that Jesus didn’t stay dead. In fact, the Apostle Paul says, ―if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins (1 Corinthians 15:17). A dead Savior cannot give life to anyone. To be in our sin is to be under God’s wrath and facing eternal condemnation. The resurrection proves that God was satisfied with Jesus’ sacrifice on behalf of sinners (Hebrews 10:11-14). Praise God for His grace!
Easter is a time to reflect on how God is at work in our lives. The Bible says that those who are in Christ are new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17). Take some time over the next several days to reflect upon what God is doing in your life. Where are you experiencing God’s grace? How are you experiencing spiritual growth? In what ways has your passion for Christ and for the gospel been strengthened? Give thanks to God. Give praise to His name.
As we close out the first quarter of the year, I’m excited to say that God is at work among us at Trinity Baptist. Since the end of last year, 10 people (adults and children) have been baptized, and two others have expressed interest in being baptized soon. Not only that, 14 families have been through the Membership Class in 2015 (January – March), and six other families have told us that they are awaiting the next class. Praise God for His grace in the life of TBC. May He be glorified through His people! Nate
“And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.”
1 Corinthians 15:17
Mission Provo Spring Break 2015 I had not heard of Provo, Utah, until this year. I had heard of Salt Lake City, Utah, and like many, I associated it with the Mormon people. Joshua York led all who would be part of the Student Ministry team ministering in Provo through a crash course in the Mormon religion; until then, I had a limited understanding of their beliefs. I knew the Mormon people to be an ethical, modest, family-oriented, and hard-working community--I also understood they believed in a false system of religion. Only 0.5% of the population of Provo have a saving relationship with Christ; it is one of the least reached, but fastest growing U.S. cities. As we learned more about the details of their faith, initially it was easy to think "how strange--why would anyone think this is true?" It was a bit of arrogance on my part, but even more it was a lack of love for a people far more entrenched in a humanly-constructed, counterfeit salvation than I understood. After spending several training sessions covering the best approach methods for witnessing to the Mormons, and after having conversations discussing first hand ministry realities with Kevin and Sundie Rutledge and their team, I felt fairly confident in our team's next steps.
While our week was filled with beautiful opportunities to grow in obedience to the Great Commission, two afternoons stood out to me as the most precious. On Monday, we traveled to the Salt Lake Temple Square, the sacred centerpiece of The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints. It was a nicely kept campus with several historical and modern buildings. We knew that our purpose for the visit was more to learn and understand than to evangelize—even though we were well equipped and encouraged to engage in gospel conversations if an opportunity opened.
The student teams each had a different starting point to tour the temple campus. My student team and I were assigned to start our visit at the Beehive House. This was one of the personal residences of Brigham Young, an early leader of the Latter Day Saints. It was not unlike any other well-kept historical home of a wealthy family of the time. But, this charming house, so seemingly-sweetly named, is where all of my limited knowledge of the LDS faith met the place in my heart the Lord intended to break. I was unexpectedly overwhelmed with sadness for the two young women who were our tour guides for this segment; I felt a deep grief over their practiced articulation of their perceived confidence in the Mormon faith. I could not help but cry as I walked down the stairs and out the door. Several of the students mentioned experiencing the same sadness and heaviness during their conversations that afternoon.
I know it was God's perfect timing that the next day would be our primary evangelism day. Now that we had a deeper understanding of the Mormon people, and our hearts were in a place of love and dependence on God's leading, we visited Utah Valley University--one of the fasted growing universities in the nation with over 50% being of the Mormon faith. I was completely humbled by our students. In groups of four, they walked the campus with the sole purpose of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and His grace and love. They were not ashamed. Yes, many were nervous, but they were dedicated to their purpose, and the Lord was gracious to give them all deep, gospel conversations. I prayer walked around the campus for hours and could not find one corner of that university that did not have a TBC student team engaged in sharing the true gospel.
No statistic or workbook can truly prepare one's heart for God-given sorrow over the lost like face-to-face conversation and sharing. I praise the Lord that He knew long before we did what each day and conversation would do for our own faith and His glory. Utah is a beautiful state, filled with gracious people, but it is a home of lies and counterfeit gospel for the majority of its residents. It desperately needs what we have--faith in our Savior and His grace alone. Of course, we also had joy-filled fellowship, and our unity was strengthened, but I am most grateful that my daughter is part of a Student Ministry that has young people asking, "When can we witness more? Can we witness here? May we share the gospel now?" I saw our students memorize Isaiah 43:10-11 before we left; I can testify they upheld this scripture as we served; and I know they are forever changed for His fame, living each day more boldly as Christ's witnesses. The Trinity Quilters In June, TBC will send a mission team to Thailand. Also, going to Thailand with this team will be over 150 handmade quilted potholders—but not just ordinary potholders, everyone of them has been hand-sewn with love by our own Trinity Quilters. These potholders are part of a mission project our team will be giving to women who serve as missionaries in South East Asia. The plan is to furnish them with kitchen utensils and potholders; kitchen items are hard to come by in South East Asia, so this gift of love will be a real blessing to them in setting up their kitchen in their missionary homes. Thank you to all the women involved with the Trinity Quilters. They are always willing to jump in and help with any kind of project for TBC that is asked of them. If you have not seen the room up-stairs where these ladies work, you should—it is an amazing area filled with many beautiful quilts. Thank you ladies for serving Him.

Trinity Baptist Church Opportunities & Information
2015 Family Dedication Service It is a Mother’s Day tradition at Trinity Baptist Church to host a Family Dedication service. We want to be a church committed to training our children to follow Jesus from the earliest of days. During the dedication service, parents are encouraged and charged, along with their church family, to commit together to raise their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. Every family who wants to participate in this event on May 10 must be a member of TBC, as the promises you make to God before the church are fulfilled in our covenant community. We have many new families, and do not want to miss anyone who would like to participate. If you are interested in participating and would like more information, please contact Ms. Tara at the church office 372.2421, or email at [email protected], before April 24.

New Website Changes Coming!! www.trinitybaptistamarillo.org
Every week, we have the great opportunity to have new people visit Trinity. More and more, these visitors are finding out about Trinity through the internet. For the last few years our website has done a great job of helping people find information about our church, along with the ministries we offer. However, we can always improve things and make them even more helpful. Because we have so many people finding out about Trinity through our website, we are adding some changes to make it even more user friendly. In the coming weeks when you surf to: www.trinitybaptistamarillo.org, you will see a new look to our website, with lots of new features that will make it easier for guests to connect and members to stay up to date. In conjunction with changing our website, we are also making one other adjustment to TBC’s technology. We are phasing out our use of The City. While The City has been helpful in some aspects of what we need to do as a church, it has not been very useful for us overall. Going forward, we will be communicating any major happenings and events through email, our website, and Facebook page. So, if we do not have an up-to-date email address for you, then we need it. If you have not ―liked‖ our Facebook page, then please log on and do so. Doing these things will help ensure you stay updated on everything going on at TBC.
