What do YOU think we should be doing? What do YOU think is most important? This is your opportunity to help us set our goals and trim our sails to get to our destination. Start by writing down what YOU think is important for us to do. Is one of those objectives more important than the others? We’ll all discuss that. So be ready to talk a lot, and share your ideas. Once we decide on our goals, we’ll begin to re-evaluate how we spend our efforts, time and money - much like the Visioning Process that Mike Herr from Polk County Government talked about at our last meeting. Trimming our Sails!

The next meeting will be one of the most important meetings we’ve had in years for the RWCofL! You’ll be redefining what is important as we make our plans for the next few years. 2009 Christmas Party

DATE CHANGE!

Mark Your Calendars!!

Get out your calendars, it’s time to make a date change. Our original Christmas party date was scheduled up against the Lakeland Christmas parade. We know that all of our elected officials like to participate in that event so we immediately called the Yacht Club to change the date! So, please put the Lakeland Christmas Parade on your calendar for December 3 and come out and support all of our Republican candidates. Then, on the following Tuesday evening, December 8, save the date for the Republican Clubs of Lakeland Christmas party. Remember, this is a joint party for both clubs so everyone will be there and you won’t want to miss it!! We will also be including the Young Republicans and the Southeastern Republicans for this evening of fine dining at the Yacht Club as well! Michelle, 2nd Vice President

We certainly have been busy this summer! We are attending the NFRW and FFRW conventions the weekend before our luncheon. We’re looking forward to the opportunity of hearing some wonderful speakers, including our RNC Chairman Michael Steele. At our luncheon last month, I announced a new Caring for America project for the local schools. We can buy a backpack and fill it with all the necessary school items for the school year for only $20 per backpack. We are asking all of our members to contribute to this worthy cause. This year, especially, there are so many needy families, if we can help in some small way, it will be greatly appreciated. I have already delivered

backpacks to Jesse Keen Elementary, Dixieland Elementary and Medulla Elementary schools. Please help us with this project by donating $20 for each backpack. I want to thank Ann Wolfe and Betty Rust for their hard work decorating the tables for Marco Rubio’s luncheon, put on by the Lakeland Republican Club. There were 190 people present for the event and I heard many compliments on the patriotic decorations they worked so hard on. We have moved the Republican Rally and Tea Party to March of next year. We felt Halloween night was not going to work out and the event would be too close to the Tea Party being put on for Sept. 12. I’ll keep you posted on a future date. Hope to see all of you at our luncheon on September 17, we have a special program for you. Dena, President

Twenty three years ago, Joy Morse was the Acting Director of Nursing for Seven Critical Care Units at the University of Texas in Galveston. In 1986, she moved from Texas to Florida and had the courage and foresight to take a different career path and on September 1, 1987, she opened the doors of Joy Morse Insurance Agency, Inc. as a State Farm Agent. With a full team of licensed associates and a combined experience of over 50 years, Joy’s office helps their customers with over 90 insurance and financial products. In

April, 2008, Joy and her associates moved into their newly transformed building at 5727 US Highway 98 South in Lakeland. The Joy Morse Insurance Agency strives to offer exceptional customer service in a warm hometown atmosphere. Joy and her team of licensed associates care about every client and work diligently to connect the dots to make insurance and financial services easy for every client to understand. Joy is proud of her accomplishments of succeeding in a male dominated field, building a profitable insurance agency, having many loyal clients, and having an awesome group of associates to work with. Joy is presently a Board member of the Imperial Associates of Insurance and Financial Advisors and Vice President of Programs for ABWA Hollingsworth Chapter. Joy offers her help in the community through organizations that she is a member of in addition to volunteering at Philip O’Brien Elementary School. When Joy is not busy finding new customers or helping on-board clients, she can be found cheering for her sons, Ryan and Jake, as they play baseball for Lakeland City Baseball and Rawlings AAU Teams. The Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce would like to congratulate Joy Morse Insurance Agency, Inc. as the Small Business of the Month for August.
