F.A.Q.S.What is a FUSION Constituent?

Our constituents are those cultural CIO’s that have officially agreed to support us. Being a constituent does not require much time; two members of their executive team have the opportunity to be a member of the FUSION Multicultural Leadership Council (MLC). What’s important is what a constituent gains from their membership. Constituents have the opportunity to advertise their programs and events in our e-zine “theFuze.” which is on our website and sent out to several listserves. We help them with obtaining collaborations with cultural groups unlike their own. We

are also working on a means of helping them receive funding for events that they hose that fit within our purpose.

What makes FUSION different from other multicultural CIO’s on Grounds?

Whereas other multicultural groups on Grounds focuses on political aspects of multiculturalism we focus more on the art side of culture as a means of connecting groups. Although, separately, there are many cultural groups that sponsor art-type events, there are very few events that bring those culture groups together to share in their different art forms. What makes us special is that we fill in the need for accessible and appealing spaces where different cultures can reside together with the purpose of educating and presenting what makes their particular

culture special, fun, and accepting.

What does Inter-Cultural & Intra-Cultural mean?

Inter-Cultural programming- This type of work focuses on educating and gaining support from the University community about constituent related identities. These programs express the history of social oppression and how it affects a community. Think discussions, forums, or summits.Intra-Cultural programming- This work focuses on mending the gaps across cultures. These programs encourage cross-cultural collaboration and support the forming of allies within the groups. Think mixers, food festivals, fashion shows, constituent-based activities.

What are sample events that FUSION will host?

All of our events will encompass some aspect of cross-cultural interaction. They will promote sharing cultures and celebrating peoples’ differences and similarities. Differences are beautiful and will definitely be highlighted in our programs. Our emphasis is on dance, fashion, art, cuisine and other tenets of culture. Therefore, we will host events like food festivals, cultural-based fashion shows, talent showcases, culture-focused mixers and discussions.
