Fall Retreat

A camping trip full of bonding, laughter, and melty s’mores!

Fall RetreatFrom Trenzuda Veronica

Abad:"As a freshman and it being my rst year in

TRENZA, the Fall Retreat was an amazing opportu-

nity for me to meet all the girls and get to know

TRENZA even better. I had so much fun and am thankful that I found a

group of women, friends and sisters that I can make great memories with. Sharing stories, hiking, eating, making

s'mores, and just bonding made me want to be part of TRENZA even more.

Yay TRENZA!"

TAILGATE with Berkeley Gammas

ALly GalarteThe tailgate with the Gammas was so much fun! It was my first college tailgate, which makes it even more memorable. It was great to see everyone come together to show school spirit! The Carne asada and rice was on point and you know the games are always fun! After the tailgate, Alejandra and I went to the game! Thanks for coming with me Ale! Glad we could have that bonding moment! Love you!

Rocio HernandezYou all know football can't be the same without some good

old tailgating!!! On October fifth we had a fun tailgate with the brothers of Gamma Zeta Alpha. The grill was

going and the music was popping. There was some good, juicy carne asada and delicious jungle juice. Trenzud@s

faced Alumni at a game of flip cup and showed them how it's done. It super was fun seeing all of my girls there, new and old. I'm excited for our upcoming tailgate in Novem-

ber!! I'll see you all there and yall better be ready for some competitive flip cup games.

From Trenzuda Jessica Martinez:“Even though I am a Senior, this year was my first year going on ROADTRIPPP and it was definitely a crazy memorable experience! I was one of the drivers in my car along with my co-pilot Carissa. It was my first time driving for such a long dis-tance and my first time ever in LA! There was

never a dull moment with the #rowdyratchets in my car (haha “That Drake album tho!”). On Friday night, the UCLA Gammas were super nice when we partied at their place. We killed them at flip cup of course! I think the most memorable part of the night for me was when the song “Tragos Amargos” came on and all the Trenzudas and

Gammas, Bears and Bruins, joined together in a circle singing our hearts out. Too cute. I absolutely

had such a fun time!”

UCLA Roadtrip

From Trenzuda

Mayra Cabral:

“I love this Road trip!!

Even if Berke-ley didn't beat

UCLA this time, spending it with my beautiful Trenzudas was better than

anything, best LA ROAD TRIP!! Shout out to the amazing Wrecking

CHODES woot woot!!!” "TONIGHT, WE ARE YOUNG"

VS

UCLA Roadtrip

From Trenzuda Jakki Castorena:This weekend was an amazing weekend filled with many firsts for me. It was my first road trip and I

wasn’t sure what to expect. The actual trip was super cool and I had a lot of fun with my TU Girls! but as soon as we arrived in the UCLA area everything hit me when I got a call from my mom. I told her that I

was in LA, but since the entire trip was kind of spon-taneous because I thought I was still on the waitlist, I then saw I was totally out of my element. It wasn’t

Berkeley and although I was with my Trenzudas I was in a car full of girls I didn’t know very well. When we arrived at the Gamma party everything was different from what I imagined. The fact that it was a sort of intimate party between the UCLA Gammas and

Trenza was really comforting and really welcoming. It was a huge surprise when we walked in and I saw a friend that I hadn’t seen in three years and another friend from back home. It was a really weird experi-

ence to see both of them there, without it being planned and in a place totally different from where we met. Once I got over the initial awkwardness, I got really into interacting with people after Monica had me play a game I hadn’t even heard of. After the

first game, which made Monica drink a lot in my stead (sorry!), I got really into it and played a couple of games of beer pong, more of the stack cup thing and flip cup. It was super fun and it was actually the

first time I had ever drank more than a sip. This night was super fun, I got to learn some really fun drinking games, drank a lot (for me) for the first time, and met a lot of the Gammas, who were amazingly inviting and cool guys! (not to mention a lot of them were very attractive ) I loved the atmosphere of the entire

Friday evening and I can’t wait for the next road trip, hopefully it’s just as great as this one was.

TAILGATE with UCLA Gammas

You know it, You tell the story, You tell the whole Damn world....

This is bear territory

Hello TRENZUD@S!!!Alumni here, wanting to share a piece on the SoCal Tailgate J

First, let me just say, that going to TRENZA events as an alum is AWESOME! Yet another incentive to get that degree!

Y’all have no idea how good it felt to see my TRENZUD@s again! I really missed y’all! So, needless to say, I HAD A BLAST!

I met some new TRENZUD@s, shout out to Allyson, played some flip cup, a little bit of Gaucho Ball, saw some Cal football (didn’t’

stay for the whole thing though, it was getting a little pathetic by midway through the 3rd quarter lol), and best of all, I got to see my girls, well, at least some of them (y’all know who you are!)!

For a good minute I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to make it. I had an assignment draft due on Sunday and since I’m a perfec-tionist, it didn’t matter that it was an ungraded draft, I was still

stressin’. But I told myself, “NO!” Did as much work as I could the week leading up to the tail gate, stayed up till 3 am every day,

because there was no way I was going to miss a chance to see my TRENZUD@s with them being so close to me. It was all worth it. An awkward incident with some boys aside, I had a really great

time (Good work Griselda); there was great food, great music (most of the time hah), and great company. So glad I went!

Before I begin to talk about the tailgate, I'll introduce myself. My name is Jackie, I'm from class of 2012, and I like long walks on the beach. (Actually I did that this past

summer and I think I rather just go in the water!) Anyway, the tailgate was awesome! I got to see lots of familiar faces and new faces. Being with my trenzudas made me feel like home, and playing flip cup was just

awesome. Of course we won, then we lost but I won't tell why- she knows who she is juuuuust kidding. I cant tell

you the food was great but I got there late so I wouldn't know. The jungle juice was good though and the

gammas who we interacted with was cool! It was a indescribable feeling to see the younger generations of TRENZA partake in something I just did a few years ago

but seems like forever ago. I'm glad this organization continues to grow and if any of you ever need anything

I'll be here!

Mia CarbajalI will always remember the UCLA Tailgate as one of my favorite TRENZA memories. Everything about the trip was crazy! I had so much fun on the way down

to L.A. and shared so many laughs with Carissa, Betty, and Jessica. Our car would not stop with the jokes! Spending brunch with Trenzudas and getting to know the alumni was also really memorable.

Overall, the Tailgate was AWESOME!!! I had a blast from beginning to end.

Santa Monica Pier

A beautiful night with

beautiful companyLupe Martinez

ROADTRIP was super F U N, but one of my favorite parts was spending time

with everyone at the Santa Monica Pier<3 Although we were all super tired from

the activities of the day, we got to bond and enjoy the scenery! I want to thank

everyone who went, especially the Wreck-ing Chodes!!, who made this such a spe-

cial and beautiful night! :)

Adriana CardenasI have never been to the Santa Monica Pier. I am

glad I got to share my rst experience going there with my lovely TRENZUDAS. It was amazing. With

the little time we had there, we still made the best of it!

TRENZA BirthdayFr Tud Mic Mncad:HEY TRENZUD@S! Monica here :) This year so far has been the best!!!! 5th year woooo I joined TRENZA as a second semester sophomore, but didn't really feel the TRENZA love until my junior year, so it warms my heart to see so many second and third years join for the first time!!!! It is never too late to join our amazing sisterhood! So naturally, TRENZA birthday was burning brightly with tons of TRENZA love!!!!! It was great to see alumni and new comers mingle and get to know each other--especially over delicious home-cooked meals! My favorite part of TRENZA will

always be our inner socials and our last teen year did not disappoint! Hope-fully I can attend our 20th as a UC Berkeley alum :)

Fr Tud Ti F:It was great celebrating TRENZA's 19th Birthday with

my lovely Trenzudas! The food was amazing and I loved seeing our alumni! I am so thankful an org like this exist

on our campus. It has allowed me to meet such awe-some womyn and make great memories with them! Cal

would not be the same without TRENZA!

Fr TRNA A Nm

Pzn:TRENZA Birthday!

Everyone has a reason to cele-brate another year of TRENZA!

I loved taking part in this year’s birthday celebration

because it gave me the oppor-tunity to meet TRENZA’s

newest members and catch up with returning ones. Every

time I walk into a room full of trenzud@s, I am reminded of why this space holds such a

special place in my heart. It’s a space where you feel instantly

welcomed and empowered. This time was no different. Our

birthday was full of warm smiles, yummy food, and great laughs. As an alum, I look for-ward to these events because they give me the opportunity to mingle with the students

and recount on the glory days (yep, college is the BEST time

in yo life—Don’t waste it!). Cheers to many more birthday

celebrations!

A Word

from your

alumni

Fr TRNA A Mis Mn:

TRENZA got together on October 10th to cele-brate 19 years of sisterhood. As an alumna I miss attending TRENZA Thursdays so of course I was not going to miss out on attending one especially if it was celebrating TRENZA’s birth-day. Walking into the Rochdale common room the first couple things I noticed was how the 1st years during my Co-Chair year were now seniors and how many new faces were in the room getting together to celebrate. As we got in our tables, I was able to meet some of the newer trenzudas and hear all about their excite-ment for road trip. There was plenty of food for everyone to break bread together. And of course we all sang Happy Birthday to an organization that has provided us a safe space through our journey at CAL. At the end of the meeting, we ended with a closing circle as most of us expressed our appreciation to TRENZA. Coming back to celebrate this occasion makes me appreciate TRENZA even more than I do now. Every year TRENZA gets a new generation of womyn but one thing is still evident that the feeling of what it is to be part of TRENZA has not changed. That feeling of knowing you have a group of girls that have your back through the good and the bad. The reassurance that you’re not alone during your struggles as an undergrad at CAL. That smile that you know the weekend will be full of fun and adventures with your trenzudas. But most of all that certainty of knowing TRENZA has introduced you to your best friends for here on out. So much love to TRENZA for turning 19 and all the years to come. -Melissa (Meli) Mendez , Alumna, Class of 2011

Sake Bombing with Hermanos Unidos

Sake Bombing 2013 was one for the books! I can't believe it was the 10th anniversary this year. 10 years

of crazy memorable nights with Hermanos Unidos! I had a blast and hope everyone who attended did too

Sake bombing was my first official event with TRENZA and I must say I LOVED IT! Hang-

ing out with these girls and the guys from Hermanos Unidos really gave a great ending

to my stressful week and all that school work. I felt good vibes from everyone during the

event, and had many laughs here and there, meaning I just extended my life span that

night! After that, we had the after party at Rochdale which was great as well because I got the opportunity to enjoy more time with my TRENZudas. I hope to have many more

nights like this with my girls, and just times in general!

YAY! Last SAKE BOMB!!!! It was awesome to see fellow fifth years--Ashley (we owe you glow in the dark shades!),

Blanca, and Rocio--, new & current members and even one TRENZA alumna (Steph) at this year's event!!!! So many

positive vibes even before the sake dropped! And once they dropped, the environment remained safe and fun (although we all probably knocked out before midnight!!!!). Ten years of this awesome tradition with HU and hope to hear it go on

for another ten!

Breast CancerEarly Saturday morning, the lovely ladies of Hermanas Unidas de UC

Berkeley, Omega Phi Beta, and TRENZA arrived at Golden Gate Park

in San Francisco and got ready to walk the walk for a great cause. But

even before this single event, they collaborated and worked together to

raise over 1,500 towards cancer research! They sold bracelets and pins all throughout October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and sup-ported the cause by wearing pink on Wednesdays. Thank you ladies for

Top 5 Regrets of the Dying"I drive myself crazy sometimes wondering if my life is

how it should be. Am I who I want to be? Am I spending my time & money wisely? Am I living my youth to the fullest? I am terrified of time and the fact that it slows

down for no one and nothing. So I went to the internet for some advice, and I

stumbled upon an article from the Huffington Post titled "The Top 5 Regrets of the Dying." Sounds intense, I

know. But it definitely helps give me some clarity about life. And if you ever lay awake at night contemplating life

like I do, these may help you out as well:1. I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself,

not the life others expected of me.2. I wish I hadn't worked so hard.

3. I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings.4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.

5. I wish that I had let myself be happier. These may sound like cliches; everyone always tells you

to "just be yourself." But I guess the reason why that advice is so constant is because, especially in our youth,

sometimes we need a constant reminder that we are who we are, even if we don't know exactly who that is.

So remember who and what you prioritize, and try not to stray too far from your goals. Even if life isn't short to you, your time is much too precious to waste. And YOU

and your life are much to precious to go to waste! "
