March Memory: Life Options Green Hills Pregnancy + Health Center
In March of 2020, Life Options Green Hills Pregnancy + Health Center moved into our location
at 1433 Lulu Street in Trenton. We appreciate the support and help we had from the Chamber
and various chamber members during our quest to find a location and building that would meet
our needs. We are so blessed to live in a community that supports one another as Trenton does.
We are proud to be a part of this community and we are working diligently to help make our
community an even better place to live by helping to develop strong families.

Even though it is very tempting to overshare on social media, it can lead to you being a victim of several types of crimes. Thieves and scammers are known to monitor social media for potential victims.
Keep in mind that if you have the location enabled on your posts, perpetrators of these crimes will know when you are away and where you are at.
To minimize the threat:
• Do not post about your travels until you are home.
• Inform those that need to know about your travels but do so privately.
• Never post photographs of your tickets, board passes, passports, or etc.
• Do not “Check-In” at locations you visit.
• Do not “tag” others in your travel related posts.
• If others post or comment on your travels, delete those posts or comments immediately.
Discuss this topic with the others you plan to travel with.
It would be best that during your travels to just save the photographs, thoughts, and everything related to then share once you are safely home.

Spring Marketing Ideas To Freshen Up Your Business:
Article from starrynightllc.com
1. Hold Themed Contests: Grocery Stores can have people guess the number of eggs they sell in a month. A
clothing store can hold a contest for people to design and then vote on new spring outfits and then hold a
sale on the top three winning outfit items. Be creative!
2. Have a Spring Cleaning Sale: Make it fun! “Spring Cleaning Clearance Sale!” happens a lot, but can you
spin it to fit your business? Flowers, rabbits, eggs, and baby animals not only are what Spring is about, but
they’re also insanely cute and can be used creatively in any marketing materials.
3. Start Promoting Outdoor Events: Since it’s finally warming up, if you have a physical location or do any-
thing publicly, use this opportunity to announce that the end of winter means the end of hiding indoors away
from the cold, and then promote your next outdoor event (and decorate with bright flowers!).
4. Encourage Earth-Friendly Behaviors: Spring is about new life on earth, animals, and plants alike. Earth
Day is coming up soon too! Sponsor a local park clean-up day, or have people drop off things like boxes
from their own spring cleaning at your business with an incentive from you for doing so. Even show off
your employees planting a tree or cleaning up a park if you don’t want to bring customers into it. Not every-
thing needs to be (or should be) always sales-focused. Simply getting your name out there in your communi-
ty and getting people involved is a good thing.
5. Remember Easter’s Not the Only Holiday Right now: So many businesses remember Easter, but forget
that there’s multiple other holidays during this time. Even if you only celebrate Easter, your customers may
have other beliefs! The first day of Spring is Ostara, which is an old tradition that still incorporates the sym-
bols of eggs, flowers, and bunnies. Passover begins soon as well, and Mother’s Day is also coming up.
Speaking of mothers, Spring Break is also during this time. Entice parents with something soothing and re-
laxing, or sponsor a kid-day where people can shop and kids have monitored crafts or themed games to play.
6. March Madness: Sports fans are geared up for March Madness too. Sponsor a local sports team, or offer a
discount day for them at your store. If you sell things in the local sports team colors, you can also highlight
those in support.
7. Partner with a complementary business: If your business makes no sense with spring, find your “Friend
Business” who DOES make sense with spring. A florist can help send flowers to new clients of yours, or
you can hold an in-store raffle for a gift certificate to the chocolate business down the street, just in time for
Easter. Not only do you get the benefit of new, fun things, but partnering with what I call “Friend Business”
is beneficial for both you and them: you’re promoting their business, and they’ll advertise your promotion to
their audience as well.

Apprenticeship Revolution:
From Missouri Business Magazine Winter 2021 Edition
Apprenticeships are booming in Missouri. Although apprenticeships are commonly associated with skilled
trades, today’s apprenticeships exist in nearly every industry– including information technology, manufactur-
ing, health care, and energy.
• Apprentices earn while they learn, reducing or eliminating student debt altogether.
• Likewise, employers benefit from developing a broader and more diversified talent pool.
• Research shows about 94 % of workers retain employment after completing an apprenticeship pro-
gram, earning an average salary of $70,000.
• Missouri is considered a leading state in the advancement of todays modern apprenticeship models. In
2019, our state ranked second in the nation for new apprenticeships and currently there are nearly 14,000
apprenticeships in Missouri.
Most recently, the Missouri Chamber Foundation was awarded a $6 million U.S. Department of Labor grant
to train 5,300 new technology industry apprenticeships over the next 4 years. These apprenticeships will ad-
dress critical needs in computer programming, network support, cyber security, and other shortage areas.
According to the Missouri Chamber Foundation Technology 2030 report, Missouri has projected to be among
the top 10 states in technology job growth over the next 5 years. Missouri needs to be supporting innovative
ways to help employers find the talented workers they need.
One big change was establishing Industry-Recognized Apprenticeship Programs, or IRAPs. IRAPs include
certifications that are transferrable from employer to employer credentials which are particularly valuable for
workers. Missouri is one of only 4 states that recognize IRAPs, thanks to house bill 2046 sponsored by Rep-
resentative Derek Grier and passed by state lawmakers in 2019.
The momentum continues with the newly-launched Missouri Apprentice Connect, a website the Missouri
Chamber of Commerce and Industry developed in partnership with the Missouri Department of Higher Edu-
cation and Workforce Development.

Business Highlight: Barnes-Baker Automotive
Barnes-Baker Automotive opened its location in Trenton, Missouri in 1988, and have been in business
for 33 years. Owner Brent Wyant has been in the automotive business for 40 years coming up in May.
He started out as a salesman at Seidel Chevrolet Trenton, MO in 1981, then worked at a few different
dealerships before becoming the General Manager of Barnes-Baker when it opened in 1988. Brent is
now the sole owner of Barnes-Baker, after Jim Baker passed in 2010.
Over the past few years Barnes-Baker has switched up their marketing tools to advertise more on their
website as well as going to see them in person. This has brought in a lot of out of state business, which
is great for their dealership and also great for our community. Barnes-Baker has also added off-road
UTVs, ATVs, Side-by-sides, and mowers to their inventory. This will be their third season coming up
and it has been a wonderful addition to the business. In the Fall of 2020 they built an outdoor showroom
for people to come see the new inventory. People are welcome to come during all hours of the day to
look around! Artic Cat UTVs and ATVs, E-Z-GO Golf Carts, Grasshopper mowers, Country Clipper
mowers, and Dixie Chopper mowers are just some examples of what they offer.
Brent Wyant stated he likes to be part of the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce to be able to support
the community. He believes it is important to keep Trenton and all of the surrounding areas strong.
Barnes-Bakers has a strong customer base of about 9 surrounding counties and he loves to contribute to
every one of them.
We congratulate Brent on all of his success with Barnes-Baker during these past years, and during all of
his new ventures for his company.

If your business has an event please add it to our Community Calendar by going to
www.trentonmochamber.com, then going to Events Calendar, then at the bottom of the calendar
you will see the option to “Add Event.” It is a great way to share your event with people in our
community and people wanting to come visit our community. You can also email trentonchamber-
[email protected] or [email protected] to get your event added to the newsletter.
-The Chamber has space in the front office to display your brochures and/or business cards. These materials are put
in relocation packets when requested by a variety of people from businesses recruiting new hires to individuals just
relocating to Trenton. A lot of people come in the front office as well looking for information about Trenton and we
like to be able to give them a packet of information about as many of our member businesses as we can.
If you have brochures or business cards, please consider bringing some to our office so we can distribute them and get
your name in front of more people.
