Trent Family Latinos in Technology Scholarship 2014-15
Scholarship Application
This scholarship seeks to recognize and develop an outstanding
Olathe Latino high school senior who demonstrates the potential and
desire to promote the use of technology to innovate in their
community and professional field of choice. The Olathe Public
Schools Foundation will award one Trent Family Latinos in
Technology Scholarship to a Latino student who plans to attend a
four-year program in which technology will play a major role. The
student may plan to start their college career at community
college. The amount of the scholarships will be $1,000. The
scholarship will be distributed in fall, 2015.
Application Procedures All applications should be neatly printed
in black ink or typewritten. All applications should be completed
in full and accompanied by the following required documentation, in
the order listed: Completed application form A copy of the students
transcript Personal Statement/Essay 2 letters of reference
Completed application packets for the Trent Family Scholarship
should be submitted to the Olathe Public Schools Foundation
offices, 315 N. Lindenwood, Olathe, Kansas 66062, by 4 p.m.,
Friday, May 8, 2015.
Late applications will not be accepted. EVALUATION PROCEDURE A
selection committee will review and evaluate all properly completed
applications. Application must meet all eligibility requirements.
The applicants will be ranked individually on the basis of the
criteria outlined in the scholarship criteria section of this
application. Individual scholarship winner(s) will be notified by
the Olathe Public Schools Foundation Executive Director.
Notification will be made prior to the completion of the spring
semester.

APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY
To apply for this scholarship, an applicant must meet all of the
following requirements:
Olathe High School Attendance: The applicant must be a senior at
an Olathe district high school. College Entrance Examination: The
applicant must have taken either the ACT or SAT college entrance
examination and must furnish proof of the test scores, unless
planning to attend a community college. The scores may be verified
either on the applicants official transcript or with a separate
record of the score attached to the application. The information
should reflect the date the test was taken. College Enrollment: The
applicant must enroll or plan to enroll in either an accredited
community college or a four-year college or university.
SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA
Personal Statement: Each applicant must provide an essay
addressing both his/her Latino heritage, future career plans and
his/her view of the role of technology in their future career. The
essay must not exceed two pages in length, must be double spaced,
must be in at least 11 point type, and must have at least 1 margins
on all sides. A successful application packet (personal statement
and letters of recommendation) will convince the judges that the
student has the following characteristics:
Intellectual curiosity in technology
Demonstrates perseverance, potential, honesty, and respect
Given time for community service
PAYMENT OF SCHOLARSHIP Payment of the scholarship will be made
directly to the college or university. It will be the scholarship
recipients responsibility to provide proof of full-time enrollment
to the Olathe Public Schools Foundation in a timely manner, as
directed in the award letter.
CERTIFICATION BY APPLICANT I hereby certify that the statements
contained in this application are true, accurate and complete. I
certify that I presently meet all eligibility requirements set
forth in this application. I also understand that any false
statement in this application shall constitute grounds for
revocation or withdrawal of any awarded scholarship. Signature of
