* Fussy Cut Tip: Cut one block, then lay it on top of the fabric matching the design, and rotary cut around the first piece. ** Ellen fussy cut the border fabric by placing the licorice spheres on the outside of the strips, and light spheres on the inside.

Cotton Batting according to your quilt size, 1 large spool of coordinating all-purpose thread/cotton. Pins, scissors,

hand sewing needle, rotary cutter and mat, tape measure, safety pins large, iron and board,

sewing machine.

Cutting IstructinsFABRIC 1: Parrot Jungle LTG03

Cut 8x 10.5” (26.5cm) squares (Fussy Cut all the same design)*

FABRIC 2: Suzani LTG01Fussy Cut 4x 11” (28cm) squares from the Suzani print, centering the circle. Lay an 11” square template over the design and cut out. Then cut out 5.5” squares from the larger squares.

FABRIC 3: On the Fence LTG02 LicoriceCut 16x 5.5” squares. Tip: Fussy Cut crosswise.

FABRIC 4: Tapestry LTG04Cut 4 strips 5.5” wide, the width of the fabric for the outer border.**

FABRIC 5: On the Fence LTG02 Vanilla Cut 4 x 2.5” strips the width of the fabric for the binding.

FABRIC 6: Tapestry LTG04 Cut 4 strips, the width of the fabric, 2.5” (6.4cm) wide

All seam allowances are 1/4” unless otherwise stated.Before you start this scrumptious project read the instructions, preshrink your fabric before sewing by washing, drying and

pressing it... This is optional of course.Tip: Make a small diagonal clip in the corners of each of the

fabrics prior to washing to prevent fraying and tangling.

Swing Istructins• Block 1 is simply the 10.5” (26.5”) square, so set these aside for the time being.• Block 2 uses the smaller squares you precut in fabrics 2 and 3. Review the quilt map on the next page, first add 2 squares in fabric 2 and 3 as in fig.1.• Repeat but switch the fabrics as in fig.2.

Note: Use all geometric type fabric like the one we used in the same direction, and ensure all circles as we used in the ‘Suzani’ print maintain the circle form.

Although Ellen used the linen prints in this quilt, they are all available in cotton too. So check the listing at the back noting cotton style numbers. There are also 3 colorways in the fabric collection, so see the back for alternative palettes for your Treets Quilt.

B I N D I N G Cut 10 strips of the fabric 4” (10cm) wide. Attach the strips to make one long strip. • Fold the long strip in half lengthwise with raw edges together, and wrong sides facing. Press a crease along the folded edge.• With the RIGHT side of the quilt top fac-ing upward, and starting at the center of one side edge, match the raw edges of the binding and quilt edge, and pin in place. Leave the first 5” unstitched, and stitch using 1/4” seam allowance stop-ping 1/4” from the first corner, backstitch. Clip the threads.

2Swing Istructins ontinued...• Once all 8 of these combination blocks are completed, lay out your quilt on a flat surface as shown here in the map, and refer-ence the photograph of the quilt.• Once you are satisfied , start with the first row, and stitch all blocks together, block 1,2,1,2. Repeat for rows 2, 3 and 4.• Stitch all rows together to form the quilt top.• Stitch the border in place.

• You are now ready to assemble your quilt.

• To form a mitered corner, fold the binding away from the corner forming a 45 degree angle. Then fold it backward, even with the raw edge to be sewn, pin. Leave the folded edge on the binding even with the first edge that was sewn.• Begin stitching again, continue to pin and sew to the next corner. Repeat until you return to the starting point. Leave 5” from the starting point unsewn, measure and trim the binding. Join the binding and finish sewing the binding in place.• Fold the binding over to the backside of the quilt, line up the folded edge to the binding stitches so they are covered, pin. Pin mitered corners in place. Handstitch the binding iin place or machine stitch close to the folded edge.

A S S E M B L E Place the Quilt back on a large flat surface with the WRONG side upward. Smooth out any wrinkles.• Place the batting on top of the back-ing on it’s wrong side. Smoothing out any wrinkles.• Center the quilt top on top of the bat-ting with the RIGHT side facing upward, creating 3 layers with the quilt back, bat-ting and quilt top. Smooth wrinkles.• Using the large safety pins, pin all three layers together, or hand baste the layers using long basting stitches.• Machine or hand quilt as desired.• Using a ruler and scissors or rotary cut-ter, trim the quilt back and batting even with the quilt top.• Hand or machine baste very close to the raw edges to secure the layers to-gether before binding the quilt.
