Siena deep seating brings the comfort and

appeal of indoor sectionals to outdoor living. Pillowy cushions and laid back posture provide

total luxury.

The Siena deep seating modular design allows you to combine components to make

almost any seating arrangement your space calls for. The basic chair can be joined with

an additional seat set to make a loveseat. You can add up to five seats long to make large

scale seating groups to fit any location. The corner seat joins two or three seating groups

in a right angle configuration to make a cozy conversation area. See deep seating details

its substantial table top and tastefully tapered legs

is offered in a variety of sizes. Square and

rectangular, these tables fit any space from a four

seat bistro set to a broad spread for 8 diners.

dining, the Toscana extension table is the answer. The Toscana 4’ x 8’

folds up to 6’ long when space is at a premium. For big family

gatherings its big brother with dual extensions and six legs,

opens to an enormous 4’ x 12’, enough to comfortably seat twelve

people. Both tables feature folding, self storing extension leaves

at the center of the table. The tables are solidly built and feature

solid brass hardware to manage the extension leaves. Both tables

include places for an umbrella with solid brass rings and closures.

ample Valeo 63” square that can seat up to twelve diners. The Valeo tables all feature heavy

The teakwood used in Domus Designs’ products is first grade, government certified plantation grown from the Island of Java, where we operate our

manufacturing facility. Precision machined mortise and tenon joinery locked in place with cross drilled teak dowels and weather resistant glue provide

tight fitting joints that will last for generations. Fittings and fasteners are made of solid brass and stainless steel and are buffed to a beautiful, long

lasting satin finish. All our furniture features carefully chamfered or rounded edges and hand buffed finish for a silky smooth touch.

The following are answers to some commonly asked questions. We have tried to answer many of the most frequently asked questions about our products and services. What is so special about teak? Teak is a deciduous hardwood tree native to the highlands of east India through Burma (Myanmar), it is not a native of tropical rainforests. Teakwoodis extremely durable with a naturally high oil and silica content which makes it both stable in climatic extremes and resistant to rotting and insects. For many years Teak has been the choice of boat builders forits long lived durability in the most severe conditions. For these reasonsteak is considered the premium natural material by producers and usersof fine outdoor furniture.

How long will the furniture last? Teak furniture is made of one of nature’s most durable renewable buildingmaterials. Teak has been used for centuries for building construction,shipbuilding and furniture construction. Teak furniture has withstood thetest of time in public areas around England with many pieces still in useafter 100 years. Your furniture will also give decades of service withoutrequiring the constant care that some other types of outdoor furnituredemand.

Does the production of teak furniture hurt the environment? Unlike metal or plastic, teakwood is a renewable resource. Teak furniture’sability to last for decades makes it environmentally friendly in comparisonto other man made furnishings that eventually end up in a landfill. We use only teak from plantations in Indonesia that are supervised by a division of the state forest ministry. This ensures that the resource ismanaged in a sustainable manner and the forests of Indonesia arepreserved for future generations.

How is the wood finished? Domus Designs offers the full line of furniture in natural teak finish. Natural teak will gradually change to a beautiful silver gray patina with exposure to the elements. Alternately, we offer a teak protector with UV and mildew resistant agents that will prolong the honey gold colorof natural teak. This type of protectant will not darken like oil. For additionalinformation, see our “Care of Teak” section.

What about the quality? Teakwood is commercially available from the Indonesian Government in several grades. We use only the best “First Quality” teak grade in addition, our wood selection is taken from the best part of the log with tight grain and no loose knots or checks. All lumber is kiln dried before manufacturingand assembly. Our furniture is crafted of heavy timbers and uses the time proven mortise and tenon or tongue and groove joinery methods.Structural joints are doweled and glued with weather resistant glue to hold up for a lifetime of vigorous outdoor use. Fasteners and metalfittings are all constructed of heavy cast solid brass or stainless steel.

Does the furniture require assembly? To reduce shipping and storage cost, most furniture is shipped “Knocked Down” or KD. Depending on the model, some pieces are shipped fully assembled and require no further assembly. All Domus Designs KDfurniture is pre-assembled in the factory and then disassembled for packing. Most items can be assembled in less than twenty minutes without any special skills, using the included tools and household tools.

What kind of guarantee do you offer? Domus Designs teak furniture products are guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of five years from the date ofdelivery to the end user for residential use. Commercial applications arecovered for three years. Upholstery products sold by Domus Designs suchas cushions and carry a guarantee of one year from the date of delivery.

Why does my new teak furniture have dark or red markings? Teakwood is a natural living material and as such there is endless varietyin grain. In the manufacturing process, the freshly cut wood often exhibitsdeeply colored grain markings. This is perfectly normal and in most caseswill disappear after a few days of exposure to sunlight.

Why do small cracks occur in the wood? Teakwood is a natural cellular material. It absorbs small amounts of moisture when exposed to rainfall and loses it when the environment is hot and dry. This causes expansion and contraction and can cause small cracks to appear at the surface of the wood. These fine cracks are a normal weathering effect and have no effect on the serviceabilityor longevity of the furniture. They will soon blend into the surroundingsurface.

Do I need to bring my furniture in during the winter? No, Domus Designs teak furniture can be left outdoors without a cover allyear long.

Do I need a heavy base if I am putting an umbrella through the table? Yes, we strongly recommend that you use a heavy steel base to secure theshaft of your umbrella. Wind currents can exert great force on an openumbrella that can cause an unsecured umbrella to sail away dangerouslyor damage your furniture.

Can we mix and match your chairs with any of your tables? We have applied design standards to all of our dining tables and chairsthat ensure that you can comfortably sit at any of the dining tables withany of the chairs. The modular concept allows you to combine components to make almost any seatingarrangement your space calls for. The basic arm chair section has a right and left arm, and a seat set. By itself it makes a lounge chair. An inside seat section can be added to an arm chair section to make a loveseat. You can add additional inside seats up to five seats long to make large scale seating groups. A corner seat section joins two straight seating groups (lounge chairs, loveseats or sofas) in an “L” configuration.

Notes: Following the included instructions, assembly of a single lounge chair usually takes approximately 15-20 minutes using the included tools.No special skills are required. Integral foot levelers are included in each leg to provide proper support on uneven surfaces.

Design Your Own Sectional Arrangement – The Siena Deep Seating line is easy to mix and match to get the seating group that fits your space. If you don’t see what you want in our list of standard arrangements, please follow the instructions below to specify a custom configuration to suit your needs: 1. The easiest way to make a custom configuration is to make a simple sketch to visualize the items that are required for the space. Please see the diagram at right for dimension information. 2. Start a list of sections to keep track of the items you will need. 3. Add an Arm Chair Section. This item is required for all arrangements and provides the right and left arms and one seat set. Only one Arm Chair Section is required for each sectional arrangement. 4. Add the quantity of Corner Seats you require. 5. Add a Seat Set for each Corner Seat. 6. Count the total number of seats you require in the layout excluding Corner Seats and Seat Sets if any. From this number, subtract one seat for the Arm Chair Section and the new total is the quantity of Inside Seats required.

C a r e Maintenance of Teak Furniture

Teak is the premium natural material for outdoor furniture. Teak is an extremely durable hardwood; it requires very little care to preserve its good looks and integrity over decades of use. It is also a material of natural beauty that displays a wide variation of rich grain and colorranging from light honey gold to deep chocolate brown. The natural growth process ensures endless variation so that no two pieces will ever be exactly alike in grain and color. Here are some general care guideline that will help you to get a lifetime of pleasure from your teakfurniture. Teak requires no special treatment or coating to extend its long life, however there are some choices for the care of its appearance:

New teak furniture often has a slight surface sheen. This is from the oil naturally occurring in the teakwood. This surface oil will be washed away aftera short time outdoors. The oils and resins that remain inside give teak its lasting durability. Over time when left outdoors, teak furniture will naturallyage to a handsome silver-gray. This gradual process usually takes from six to twelve months depending on local conditions. The weathering processwill eventually leave your furniture with a look of timeless beauty. Water spots or other discoloration may occur early in the weathering process.After the wood has been exposed to moisture the surface grain may raise slightly. Some small cracks may also develop in the wood surface.This is a natural weathering effect and will soon blend into the surrounding surface. The slight separation of the grain has no effect on the strengthand longevity of the furniture. Teak will return to its original smooth feel after the initial weathering process. Cleaning with a soft bristle brush orscotch-BriteTM pad and soapy water will help to return the surface to a smooth finish.

Once the furniture has taken on a weathered surface, it is easily maintained by an occasional cleaning with a soft bristled brush and soapy water to remove accumulated dirt. Most dirt and stains can be removed with soapy water and a brush. For tough stains and mildew add one part household bleach to two parts water in the soap solution. Rinse well with clean water after washing.

Pressure washers should be avoided as they can scour and roughen the wood surface. Also, the use of steel wool is not recommended as it can leave a residue that can produce rust spots.

Teak that has not been cleaned can become dark gray or black after some years. For this case we offer Domus Teak Cleaner to clean your furniture. This concentrated cleaner removes accumulated dirt and grease from the surface of the furniture and it also contains brightener ingredients which will help to bring back the original teak color.

After cleaning with Domus Teak Cleaner, the golden color of the teak can be extended with the application of Domus Teak Protector. This is high-quality, multi-purpose wood treatment specifically formulated to enhance and help preserve the natural beauty of teak outdoor furniture. Domus Teak Protector is an advanced alternative to teak oil, it is water based, contains no harmful VOC and is biodegradable. It contains UV inhibitors and light pigments to reduce the weathering effects of sunlight and a compound to provide some added protection from spills and stains. New teak should be weathered for 2-3 weeks to reduce surface oils before applying this treatment. Weathered teak must be thoroughly cleaned with Domus Teak Cleaner before applying Teak Protector. Teak Protector should be reapplied once or twice a year to provide continuous protection.

We do not recommend the use of teak oil. Oil can leave a greasy or sticky residueand provides ideal living conditions for mildew thus creating black spots on yourbeautiful teak furniture. We also advise against the use of paint, varnish or othersimilar finishes. These finishes tend to crack and flake from the surface and are notwell suited to this application.

* Domus teak care products may stain clothing and patio surfaces and can damagelawns and plants with improper use. Always read the warnings and carefully followthe instructions on the product labels.

All new teak furniture holds surface oil. Teakwood dust is dark and can cause stainson fabrics. Care should be taken to wipe any excess oil or dust from the furniturewith a damp cloth prior to placing cushions on it. Some oil may bleed out of the woodduring the first few wettings. Cushions should be removed to prevent stains the firstfew times the wood becomes wet. After the wood has been exposed to the weatherfor a time the oils will stop bleeding and will no longer risk staining the cushions.
