ConceptThe artist that we are working for is queen a

80’s rock band and the song that we are using

is one of their rock classics “bicycle race”. We

have decided to create a music video for

them and a digipack consisting of a DVD case.

Since we could not get queen to come into

the video as one member of the group is now

deceased (Freddie Mercury) and the others

have not got time to come and help us out.

So we were allowed to use our own actors to

be the cast of queen. The song that we are

using is old. We have taking the idea that

many artist of today are using of sampling

bits of songs from back in the day but adding

their own unique style on top into the whole

media production(the song and the video).

We are taking this idea to whole new level by

using the not sampling bits of a song but the

whole thing and adding our unique rendition

of what the lyrics are saying.

We plan on making the video about a group of boys wanting to ride their bikes where ever they like without being menaces to society. I want to portray the joy that a person can have from riding a bike and through this video (if it was shown in mass media) I would like to promote riding bicycles. The video will consist of performance scenes and a narrative of the boys on the bikes. The performance scenes will have the Boys performing on a set with a white background (as buying a different coloured backgrounds for a stage would be expensive). In the performance scene the boys will be using props to show a literal meaning of the lyrics but hopefully in a funny manor.

The artist, style and formI want to portray queen as “jokers”. I want to represent the group as real men (which will attract the female audience hopefully) who just want to enjoy their lives and not have to worry about issues that bring problems into the world such as, religious conflict, war, and climate change. I have see so many artists get their arguments and points through their music and videos such as lady gaga who says that the music industry is evil in bad romance. I want the group to get a message across that climate change is an issue and we wont have to worry about it so much if we ride our bikes. I want the group to be cool and popular with today's youth culture which consists of new fashion old music recreated to make it up to date.The groups style is mainstream clothing but with a twist and they are trend setters because hopefully because hopefully they will be wearing science lab goggles which is taking the geeky look and snowboarder goggles look to another level. Also Another trend setting thing I want the group to have is wearing laces on their necks and arms. Through mise-en-scene camera movement lighting, I want to show the joker personality of the boys this will appeal to the target audience who at time are down because of the world.. I will show the groups style through cinematography and editing in fast cuts showing close ups of their clothes and pan movements shots of the boy enjoying themselves smiling. I want the group to be always smiling expect for when they are frowning in a comic fashion. The groups style is versatile as they bring are like cross breeds of rock and hip hop because they are a rock group. They challenge they challenge the two genres styles to create a unique style. but dress up like a hip hop/ r’n’b group One of the purposes of the video is to bring people together we want to bring followers of the rock genre.

Technology use

We will be using an array of different technology's

to make the music video.

During the filming process we will be using

- A cannon video camera (with tripod)

- A cannon SLR camera to take images of the set

- Lighting such as the red lights and a soft box light

- The light form the camera for close ups

I plan on exploiting the technology during the film

process to my advantage because I have some

tricks up my sleeve. To do a smooth pan I'm going

to put a rubber band on the handle and pull it to

get a fast pan when the bikes go past. As well as

that we plan on positioning our selves in the boot

of a car with the camera for the tracking shots in

the high speed bike rides. I am going to get a gorilla

pod to mount on the bikes if we cannot get a car

for tracking shots. We will shoot the video in

widescreen so we can create a more professional

look for the video.

To add more light and to hide markings on the

white background we will strategically place

mirrors and foil on certain parts of the stage so

light bounces onto the backdrop.

Editing proces.

- Final cut express-Adobe Indesign (DVD cover)-Adobe Photoshop elements (Magazine Advertisement)During the editing process of the music video we will be using final cut express to create a the video. I will use the technology to my advantage to create a montage and too get fast cuts that go along with the tempo of the kick drum which I saw at the beginning of50 cents video “baby by me“.For the DVD cover I hope to use some of Photoshop's wide range of effects such as the render and stylise feature and then place them onto Indesign interface to create my desired effect.

Logistics

Where will we film?

We plan on filming on stage in a nearby hall. The

stage has already got a large white background

and some fluorescent lights above the stage. We

will place a white sheet onto the floor for when

we have to do long shots. We will then use a red

light and a soft box for added lighting.

For the narrative scenes we will shoot outdoors in

streets in our neighbourhood. Hopefully for one

of the final shots we will shoot outside a chip

shop.

Who will we film?We will film two close friends Marcell and Jordan as we could not rely on other people as they

will not see the importance of our work. I and my partner in the group (Neco) will also star in the video but we will play a smaller role in the video as we will be taking more of a directorial role in the production. There will also

be extras in the extras in the video such as Kyle and Edi.Where and when will we film?

We will film the performance scenes on a stage in a local hall.

The stage has a white backdrop which is perfect for what we are

trying to do. We will shoot the performance scenes in the next

five weeks depending on our actors schedules and when the

lights and cameras are booked out. For the narrative scenes we

will shoot in our neighbourhood in the Easter holidays when

there is more sun.
