Background As the development of therapies for DMD and SMA continues to accelerate and our understanding of the highest standards of care increases further, there is a need to keep the neuromuscular community informed and educated about the diseases and the very latest treatments, care, knowledge and consensus. TREAT-NMD tries to do this by disseminating information about the most recent information to: Healthcare providers by running live education evets in the form of masterclasses and to patients, families and carers via the guides of the most recent standards of care. Raising awareness of ‘standards of care’ to patients and families: The academic standards of care that have been published for both DMD and SMA have been translated into versions that are written in a friendly and accessible way for patients and their families or carers. The guides provide: reliable information about what type of care patients might expect to receive or advocate for healthcare providers with a useful resource to pass on to patients/families The peer reviewed guides were written collaboratively by many patient groups and are available for download on the TREAT-NMD website (treat-nmd.org). The English version is available and both the DMD and SMA guide are in the process of being translated into as many languages as possible.
