07 June 2018 Day 3: New York City Another exciting day begins with a fun-filled breakfast at the famous Ellen’s Stardust Diner, a 50s-themed restaurant featuring singing wait staff. Take advantage of some free time to discover the city at your own pace. Your Tour Manager has countless suggestions on how to spend your time. Maybe you are up for a shopping spree at some of the world’s most legendary department stores, including Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and Saks Fifth Avenue, or perhaps you will choose to visit the Architects Institute or the Museum of Modern Art. 08 June 2018 Day 4: New York City In the company of special Traveller Tours guest and architecture and design expert, Karen McCartney, board a ferry for a cruise of New York Harbour. Take in the incredible views of the towering Statue of Liberty. Dock and get up-close to “Lady Liberty.” She has welcomed immigrants and visitors to New York Harbour since 1886. Created as a token of friendship between the U.S. and France, the Statue of Liberty has become a global symbol of freedom. Then it’s on to Ellis Island. Step back in time on a self-guided tour of the museum. Come to know the personal stories of the immigration boom of 1892–1924 when 12 million people passed through this station on their journey to America. This afternoon, enjoy a guided tour with Karen through New York’s Guggenheim Museum, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. 11 June 2018 Day 7: Bedford Springs – Fallingwater – Hot Springs, VirginiaDepart for Virginia with Karen, and en route, visit Fallingwater, Frank Lloyd Wright’s famous creation. Now a National Historic Landmark in the US, this architectural marvel seemingly floats over a 30-foot waterfall. Tour Fallingwater with Karen and meet fellow Traveller Tours guest, Scott W. 14 June 2018 Day 10: RichmondThis morning a locally guided tour of Richmond shows off the city’s historic neighbourhoods and includes visits to the State Capitol building, designed by Thomas Jefferson, and St. John’s Church where Patrick Henry’s famous speech began the Revolutionary War. 15 June 2018 Day 11: Richmond – Chicago, Illinois Depart Richmond on a short flight to Chicago. Upon your arrival in Chicago, board Chicago’s First Lady,

and embark on the Chicago Architecture Foundation River Cruise in the company of Karen and Traveller editor, Anthony Dennis, who joins the tour today. See more than 50 buildings along the Chicago River. You’ll find out how Chicago grew from a small settlement into one of the world’s largest cities in less than 100 years. This cruise provides the real story on Chicago architecture and its history. Tonight Anthony hosts dinner at The Drake, a classic Chicago hotel dating back to the 1920s and, with Karen, will deliver a talk on Walter Burley Griffin, the Chicagoan architect who designed Canberra. Hear how the American people have honoured his memory to this day. Today breakfast and dinner will be included.Hotel: The Drake.

16 June 2018 Day 12: ChicagoBegin your day in the company of Karen and Anthony for a locally guided tour of Chicago’s remarkable and impressive architecture. This dynamic city goes by many names including “Second City” and “The Windy City”. No matter what you call it, you are sure to love it! Highlights of your tour include famous Michigan Avenue, the “Magnificent Mile,” the Wrigley Building, the Loop, the Lakefront, and a walking tour through Millennium Park. This afternoon join Karen and Anthony for a special tour of the Chicago area’s most famous Frank Lloyd Wright sites: his first home and studio in Oak Park; the Frank Lloyd Wright Historic District in Oak Park; then head to the Rookery Light Court in downtown Chicago, containing one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s most dramatic interior compositions. This evening, join Karen, Anthony and your fellow travellers for a farewell dinner. Karen will deliver her final reflections on the tour while Anthony will divulge what it’s like to live as a travel writer and editor, and explain more about his own interest in architecture. 17 June 2018 Day 13: Chicago – Tour Ends Your architecture and heritage tour concludes here in Chicago. Today breakfast will be included before your transfer to Chicago international airport for your flights back to Australia, arriving on day 15. The Homestead opened ten years before the Declaration of Independence was signed and has hosted presidents, royalty and celebrities over the years. Then, it’s your choice! Soak up the warm, rich mineral waters in the springs near your resort, the same ones that Thomas Jefferson once enjoyed. Or, perhaps you’d prefer a more adventurous outing exploring the local trails by mountain bike. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Perhaps enjoy a round of golf, a luxurious spa treatment, or even falconry! This is also the perfect time to simply relax and take in the beauty of your surroundings. 13 June 2018 Day 9: Hot Springs – Shenandoah Valley – RichmondToday we head east, travelling through scenic Shenandoah Valley. Visit Monticello, the beautiful home and gardens of Thomas Jefferson, who was not only the third U.S. President and author of the Declaration of Independence, but an accomplished inventor and true “Renaissance Man”. Later we arrive in Richmond, the capital of Virginia and one of America’s oldest and most historic cities. Check in to your hotel, The Jefferson, which dates back to 1895 and is considered Richmond’s grandest hotel and one of the finest in America. Today breakfast will be included. Hotel: The Jefferson.

He also oversees the care of the historic buildings and their furnishings, artwork, and archival material. Scott also sits on the board of directors for the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy,

the organisation dedicated solely to preserving Wright’s extant works.
