Famous For : Cit
Bustling and commercial, leafy and slow, cosmopolitan and vintage, Pune effortlesslyadds up to more than the sum of its parts. Itis a city where history often asserts itself, but with a careless lightness.
Celebrated as Maharashtra's cultural capital,Pune houses a plethora of educationalinstitutes, museums and hill forts. Besidesbeing a cultural and educational hub, thecity has ample attractions to satiate mostvisitors. Pune, with its glorious Marathahistory and Osho connection, a host ofsightseeing attractions, pleasant weather, and a largely dynamic crowd of studentsand young professionals, proves wonderfulfor a vacation. The list of not to be missedattractions is infinite here but a couple ofmost interesting hot spots are thePataleshwar Rock-cut temple and theSinhagad Fort. The temple is dedicated tomartyred Maratha heroes, while the fort iswell for a grand Maratha triumph overMughal invaders. Best famous for its itsOsho slippers, Shrewsbury biscuits, andworld-class educational institutes, the city ofPune is no less than a foodie’s paradise withan array of dining options to choose from. Some not to miss restaurants are Exotica,Mi-a-Mi, Cafe Mangii and Marrakesh whichoffer a complete dining experience to theguests. However, if you ever face dilemmaabout where to head for satiating your

hunger pangs, don’t hesitate in making yourway to the famous Koregaon Park, which islike a one-stop solution for all your diningneeds.
Lastly, this is the city where Shivaji spent hischildhood. This was the capital of theMaratha confederacy at the height of itspower — the Peshwas’ Pune. This is wherethe British defeated the Marathas in 1817,making it their monsoon capital ( Pune being drier than Mumbai), layinggrounds for the graceful cantonment oftoday. This is where Lokmanya Tilak broughtout his newspaper and where the Britishimprisoned Mahatma Gandhi for two years.

- By Karen AnandDecorIt was a while since Istepped into Seasonal Tastes at the Westin. It started off a couple of years ago with abang and soon became the smartest all daydining / five star coffee shop in town. Thelovely fresh blue and white decor then paledsomewhat while other five stars emerged onthe Pune scene.FoodI am happy tocomment that Seasonal Tastes is back ontop with a mind boggling varietyofrnbreakfast offerings which range fromthe healthy to the internationallyspectacular and to all time Indian regionalfavourites. The Westin internationally pridesitself on its 'wellness' options in all aspectsof the hotel. The food is no exception. I lovethe idea of customised breakfast options. The Westin breakfast sets are largelywestern with combos of cereals, fruit andpastries. The Japanese one with teriyakisalmon, tofu and Japanese omlette soundsintriguing and the Asian one withVietnamese chicken noodle soup (pho ga),dim sum and congee, downright tempting. All this in Pune? Wait, there's more Indiancombos...healthy combos with fruit andvegetable juices (my carrot and ginger wasspot on), oatmeal and banana brule, cerealswith fruit, home-made muesli and granolait's all so well thought out and leaves nobreakfast stone unturned.along with all thecuisines and options, you have the regularbuffet which is by no means 'regular' by any
stretch of the culinary imagination - muffins, pastries, cold cuts, cheeses, sandwiches, salads, fruit and juices, eggs to order andappams, dosa and idli freshly made, a wholebunch of really well executed north andsouth Indian favourites, fried rice andnoodles. The dinner buffet has also changedto include focus on a singular internationalcuisine daily. And the prices for this qualityof food and service are as unbelievable.Buffet breakfast is under 700 including taxand combos range from 250 to 550 whichincludes tea and coffee. The newishBubblicious Sunday brunch where you canwander around and eat from any or all ofthe Westin's restaurants all afternoon, isarnstaggering 999 only!Plus and MinusTheyshould advertise their staggering reasonablerates. Plenty of pluses on all fronts.MustTryAppam with egg poached on it andvegetable stew; pancakes and maple syrup;congee and condiments; tadka idli andpodis; freshly squeezed vegetablejuices.Pics\: Nilesh KulkarniFeatures:
