AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND & TAHITI
Sydney, Australia – As your ship passes Harbour Heads, you are presented with the shimmering skyline of Sydney — hailed by many seafarers as “the most beautiful harbor in the world.” Two prominent landmarks, Harbour Bridge and the sail-like curves of the Sydney Opera House, grace the backdrop of this picturesque harbor.
Port Douglas, Australia – Port Douglas is a relaxed tourist destination that usually doubles in size with the influx of tourists from May–September. Although originally a mining town, its location between the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest makes it one of the country’s top tourist destinations today.
Melbourne, Australia – With a population of 2.7 million people living in 59 separately named communities within 715 square miles, Melbourne is a sprawling city offering culture, art, fashion and friendly, sports-minded Australians. At the heart of the city is the Golden Mile, the city’s governmental and commercial center, home to hotels, shops, restaurants and theaters.
Cairns, Australia – Cairns is one of Australia’s hottest vacation destinations, boasting three of Australia’s great natural wonders. Just offshore, immense bastions of living coral form the Great Barrier Reef. Sixteen miles of superb beaches stretch to the north of the city — the famed Marlin Coast. And inland lays the immense Daintree National Park.
From the Great Barrier Reef to the rugged Australian Outback, and from New Zealand’s cliff-lined fjords to her sheep-dotted plains, the land Down Under features an unending kaleidoscope of dramatic landscapes and surprisingly sophisticated cities. Brisbane, Australia – Once considered the “country cousin” among the major Australian cities, Brisbane is today the nation’s third-largest metropolis — and one of the most desirable places to live in the country. Lying on the banks of the meandering Brisbane River, this cosmopolitan city boasts elegant 19th-century sandstone buildings, a lively cultural scene and superb parklands. Brisbane is also your gateway to uniquely Australian adventures, be it the theme parks of the Gold Coast or Queensland’s dazzling beaches.
Milford Sound, New Zealand – Described by Kipling as the “eighth wonder of the world,” Milford Sound was carved by glaciers during the ice ages. Milford Sound is breathtaking in any weather. Despite being one of the most accessible fjords, Milford Sound remains quiet and still, bounded by steep cliffs and dense rainforest.
Wellington, New Zealand – New Zealand’s capital offers stunning views of forested peninsulas, dramatic cliff-side homes and fine Victorian buildings. Settled in 1840 by the London-based New Zealand Company, “wonderful, windy Wellington” is frequently buffeted by bracing winds funneling through Cook Strait. The sophisticated metropolis boasts museums, winding streets and even a cable car. Despite its steep hills, the city can be easily explored on foot.
Papeete, Tahiti – Tahiti’s capital city, Papeete, beautifully illustrates French Polynesia’s natural beauty. Visitors can explore beautiful beaches, gardens, the local Municipal Market and eat fresh seafood. With a population of just over 130,000 people, this city is subdivided into 11 unique wards that offer much for visitors to explore, from World War I remnants to snorkeling and scuba diving just off shore.

Today, Sydney is the largest port in the South Pacific and is often voted the most popular destination in the South Pacific. Enjoy a tour capturing the history of Sydney, stunning architecture, spectacular harbour views and the world famous Bondi Beach. View the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, and travel through Chinatown, Darling Harbour and the nightlife district of Kings Cross.
Ayers Rock, Australia – Rise early to watch the day’s first light illuminate Uluru in a fantastic array of ever-changing colors. On the tour around the base of the rock, see ancient rock paintings and water holes and hear stories of Aboriginal legends. Enjoy activities including indigenous art markets, self-guided garden walks, bush yarns, cultural dance workshop, spear and boomerang throwing, wakagetti cultural dancers, and interactive didgeridoo playing.
Port Douglas and Rainforest, Australia - The picturesque mountain retreat of Kuranda Village is just 25km northwest of Cairns in Far North Queensland, Australia and is surrounded by World Heritage Rainforest. The original Kuranda Scenic Railway offers the old world charm of traveling in authentic timber carriages, gently meandering past breathtakingly beautiful scenery on a spectacular journey comprising unsurpassed views of dense rainforest, steep ravines and picturesque waterfalls within the World Heritage listed Barron Gorge National Park.
Great Barrier Reef, Australia - For an experience of a lifetime, you will explore the Great Barrier Reef aboard Quicksilver where a friendly and knowledgeable crew will take you to the very edge of Australia’s Continental Shelf to an underwater world that is a dazzling kaleidoscope of color and brilliance. Quicksilver takes you to Agincourt Reef, a magnificent ribbon reef where you can experience first-hand the magic that is the Great Barrier Reef. You can choose to dive, snorkel, or stay dry and explore the stunning reef from the comfort of a Quicksilver semi-sub, just three feet underwater. Milford Sound, New Zealand - Described by Rudyard Kipling as the “eighth wonder of the world,” Milford Sound was carved by glaciers during the ice ages. Breathtakingly beautiful, the fjord’s cliffs rise vertically from the dark waters, mountain peaks scrape the sky and waterfalls cascade downwards, some as high as 3,280 feet. When it rains in Milford Sound, and it often does, those waterfalls multiply with magnificent effect. Despite being one of the most accessible fjords, Milford Sound remains quiet and still, bounded by steep cliffs and dense rainforest. Maori are believed to have discovered Milford Sound more than 1,000 years ago, returning seasonally to the fjord, collecting the much prized pounamu (greenstone).

JOURNEY HIGHLIGHTSDesert Safari, UAE – Leaving behind the hustle and bustle of the city, trained safari guides drive 4×4 vehicles over sand dunes, through the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, deep into the heart of the desert. A feast under the stars includes grilled meats, sweets and beverages at a traditional Bedouin-style camp.
Thonburi Klong Tour including Temple of Dawn – Among the best ways to explore Bangkok is by boat. A cruise along the Chao Phraya River – the city’s lifeblood — and the canals of Thonburi reveal scenes at odds with the bustling, modern inner city. Visitors get a glimpse of the serene and simple lifestyle of riverbank dwellers. This picturesque view is what earned Bangkok the title of “Venice of the East.” En route, stop at Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn), one of the most attractive temples in Thailand. Lunch at Supatra River House and Restaurant.
Singapore – This diamond-shaped island off the coast of Malaysia is also the smallest country in Southeast Asia. It’s also one of only two cities in the world to have a significant rain forest within its boundaries. Here, you’ll find more than 840 varieties of flowering plants and 500 species of wildlife. Boasting mouthwatering cuisine, incredible shopping, and a thriving arts scene, this island is an exhilarating blend of cultures.
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam – Located on the edge of the Mekong Delta, this dynamic metropolis also features the ageless beauty of an ancient culture. French colonial architecture mixes with modern Asian influences, providing a diverse backdrop for the many motorbikes, scooters, pagodas, and street markets. Stroll the wide boulevards of this city, formerly known as Saigon, and visit The History Museum, which houses artifacts from two thousand years of Vietnamese history.
Hue/Danang, Vietnam – In Danang, visit the intriguing Cham Museum, filled with wonderful artifacts of the Cham culture, and famed China Beach. But it is Hue, the former imperial capital that beckons. The Nguyen Dynasty founded Hue in the 17th century on the banks of the Perfume River. Today it sits as a massive open-air museum of temples, pagodas, palaces and tombs. Enjoy this imposing citadel protected by a moat and then take a river cruise for a view of the Tombs of the Emperors and Thien Mu Pagoda.
Hong Kong, China – City-state, deep-water harbor, darling of empires, engine of global finance, shopper’s paradise, cinematic trend-setter, world’s most vertical city. Watch the hardworking world of Aberdeen’s junks and sampans. Rise above it all on the tram ride to the top of Victoria Peak. Hong Kong is where ancient herbal remedies mix with designer fashions, Buddhist monks mingle with businessmen, and Chinese traditions meet modern international capitalism.

DID YOU KNOW? Fun Facts About South Africa and Zimbabwe
• South Africa has eleven national languages — including Afrikaans, English and IsiZulu
• South Africa’s administrative capital is Pretoria, but the largest city in terms of population is Johannesburg
• The Atlantic Ocean and the Indian Ocean meet off the coast of southern South Africa
• Zimbabwe’s name was derived from the fortified trading hub, Great Zimbabwe, which was built in medieval times and was used by the people of the ‘Shona’ tribe. The people of this tribe constitute about 70% of the country’s current population
Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe - Victoria Falls, or Mosi-ai-Tunya, is a massive waterfall located on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was first seen by the Scottish missionary David Livingstone in 1855, and he named it after Queen Victoria. However, its indigenous Tonga name, which translates to ‘The Smoke That Thunders,’ is far more apt, as the spray that emits from these falls looks like smoke.

JOURNEY HIGHLIGHTS
Cape Peninsula, South Africa - Your tour begins with drive past the pristine beaches that lead this area of the continent to be dubbed the “Fairest Cape”. Meander along the coast to Hout Bay, a functioning harbor nestled among the hills of the region. Weather permitting, you will take a ferry ride from the Bay around Seal Island. Watch the hundreds of Cape Fur Seals who live on the island frolic in the water or sunbath on the rocks. Once back on land, continue to a tea-bag craft shop. This shop started as a project whereby people from the local village were taught how to create quality products such as candle holders, stationary trays and greeting cards using recycled teabags. The products became so popular they now have shop where the artisans can sell their products. After leaving the shop, you will continue to Chapman’s Peak Drive, one of the most breath-taking views in South Africa. This winding road hugs the cliffs giving panoramic views of the ocean as well as the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Here you will ride up on the funicular for a truly magnificent view.
Thornybush Nature Reserve, South Africa - Located within the 34,600 acre (14,000 hectare) wilderness adjacent to the Kruger National Park, Thornybush Nature Reserve offers an extraordinary safari experience where the wildlife roams freely in their natural environment. Visit the Hector Pieterson Museum and learn more about the tragic riots which lead to his death. Then continue on to Nelson Mandela’s former home, which is now a museum paying tribute to his incredible life of sacrifice and service to the people of South Africa.

JOURNEY HIGHLIGHTSNorthumberland, England - The first stop will be at Bamburgh Castle, known to have existed since at least 547AD. An imposing fort on the coast of the North Sea, it is one of the most iconic sites in Northumberland. After lunch on your own, you will visit the famous Alnwick Garden. This vast formal garden sits adjacent to Alnwick Castle, the Seat of the Duke of Northumberland. You will then continue to Chester’s Roman Fort, a segment of Hadrian’s Wall. Ostensibly to protect Roman Britannia, in 122AD the Roman Emperor Hadrian began construction of a wall to extend the breadth of England. At Chester’s Roman Fort you will have chance to explore the museum filled with artifacts found at the fort and elsewhere along the Wall.
Stratford-upon-Avon, England - You will delight in two of England’s most important cultural exports — Shakespeare and afternoon tea. Begin with a tour of Stratford-upon-Avon and William Shakespeare’s birthplace on Henley Street. As the third of eight children, William grew up in this house and returned to spend the first five years of his marriage to Anne Hathaway in the family home. Explore the house, garden, and specially commissioned artwork on this fabulously immersive experience. After touring the home, sit at a quaint café for a traditional Afternoon Tea as your lunch. With a scrumptious selection of sandwiches, cakes, scones served with jam, clotted cream and a pot of tea, this is truly an English cultural institution one cannot miss! After tea, you will visit Warwick Castle. Situated on the bend of the River Avon, this motte-and-bailey castle was an important military stronghold until the 17th century.
Guernsey, the Channel Islands - Guernsey is a self-governing British Crown Dependency off the coast of France, British by virtue of the Norman invasion of England in 1066, and the subsequent merging of the two territories. St. Peter Port overlooks the harbor, with rows of brightly painted houses, and terraced gardens. The island is ideal for rambles along cliff-side paths and through the bucolic interior.
Liverpool, England - A UNESCO World Heritage City, Liverpool combines a unique mix of contemporary and classic architecture, world-class events and attractions, and an unrivaled musical heritage. Its Premiership football, Rugby League club, championship golf and Aintree Racecourse make Liverpool a mecca for sports lovers, while the city’s many exclusive independent boutiques, high street stores and unique gift shops also make it one of the leading retail destinations in England.
Portree, Isle of Skye, Scotland - Skye is known as the Misty Isle, its moods shifting in tandem with its fickle weather patterns. Cherished for striking scenery and Gaelic culture and history, it offers a landscape of rolling hills of heather and snowcapped mountains, rugged coastlines with waterfalls tumbling to the sea, and the green pastures of tiny farming villages. Castles abound, imposing fortresses silhouetted against the blue sky, and ruins keeps brooding in the mist. One, Dunvegan, is still the home of the MacLeods, and has been a stronghold of their clan chieftains for eight centuries.

But no need to pinch yourself, Nice is just that nice.
Santorini, Greece - It’s been said the sunset from Oia on the island of Santorini is the most beautiful in the world. But you don’t have to wait until dusk to see your share of postcard-worthy views. Santorini is stunning any time of day. The capital, Fira, clings to the rim of the caldera 900 feet above the sea. Take the cable car—or if you’re looking for a more authentic experience, giddy up on a donkey to climb the 588 zigzagging steps to the top. The white cobblestone streets bustle with shops, tavernas, and cafés perfect for sampling the tomatoes for which Santorini is renowned.

JOURNEY HIGHLIGHTSHveragerdi, Iceland - From Reykjavik, head south to the greenhouse town of Hveragerdi and the surrounding fertile farmlands, noting the numerous glacial rivers on route to Skogar and Skogafoss waterfalls. We visit with the farmers of Thorvaldseyri Farm located at the foot of the world famous Eyjafjallajokull volcano that last erupted in the spring of 2010. A visitor’s center/family run exhibit was opened in spring 2011 where guests can view a 20-minute film about the spectacular natural event. Our next stop will be at the Skogar Folk Museum before continuing on, passing Solheimajokull Glacier to the black Reynisfjara beach.
Kirkjubaejarklaustur, Iceland - Experience Europe’s Largest National Park and Glacier: Glacial Lagoon with Icebergs. We cross Eldhraun, the largest mass of lava ever to flow on the face of the Earth before reaching the small town Kirkjubaejarklaustur, a former site of a 12th-century Catholic convent. Venture onward to Skaftafell National Park, one of Iceland’s most outstanding areas of natural beauty. We continue to the stunning Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon to see floating icebergs and possibly curious seals on an included boat ride. Throughout the day we are afforded magnificent views of the mighty Vatnajökull Glacier. Travel back to Vík for dinner and overnight.
The Westman Islands, Iceland - We travel along the south coast to Landeyjahofn harbor. After arriving at the pier at Bakkafjara, we take a 30 minute ferry ride to the Westman Islands. Once there, we will explore Heimaey, the largest island in the Westman Islands archipelago. Other adventures of the day include a visit to the puffins in Storhofdi, a walk up to the crater of a volcano that erupted only three decades ago, and exploring flora of the new lava field. Afternoon at leisure to explore the island on your own.
Stockholm, Sweden - The city, spread across 14 islands, exists as both a world capital of and a cultural icon often envied for its lifestyle. A cruise visit to the city uncovers the genius you might expect, manifest in the city’s parks, waterways, and urban design. But there is also something more. Stockholm was designated a European Green Capital in 2010 and has become a global leader in sustainable urban living. So as you walk the streets and whistle softly at the view, consider you may be witnessing the birth of something hinting at the future of the planet.
St. Petersburg, Russia - Although reportedly built to resemble such Western cities as London, Paris, and Vienna, one look at St. Petersburg’s regal palaces and vast public squares is enough to tell you that it is truly in a class of its own. The overnight call in St. Petersburg lets you immerse yourself in the city’s cultural immensity. The Hermitage alone could overwhelm you. One of the world’s great museums, it houses works by Titian, Dutch and Flemish masters, Michelangelo and Matisse, and the Peacock Clock.
Copenhagen, Denmark: Built on a series of islands, Copenhagen balances tradition and kinetic energy, while all the while the Little Mermaid statue keeps a thoughtful watch on the harbor. Capital city of the kingdom of Denmark since 1417, Copenhagen is a city in which the modern developments and old buildings are blended to form a thriving and harmonious environment.

JOURNEY TO IRELAND AND THE AMERICASDeparts October 22, 2017
According to historians, more than one half of the population of Ireland
immigrated to the United States during the middle half of the 19th century,
adding to the hundreds of thousands who came in the years prior. It is a
fact that all of them made the passage by ship, many arriving in Boston and
New York. On this unique Enrichment Journey you can share some of that
experience as you join a 22-day journey that combines an escorted land
vacation in Ireland with a 16-day Transatlantic crossing from Southampton
to Boston, New York, and Bermuda before arriving in Florida. The journey
begins with the warmth of an Irish Welcome as you spend five nights
in Dublin “at home with the Irish.” Meet the owner of a pub established
in 1595, and hear his story about the pub. Travel to the countryside and
discover an ancient monastery. Learn about the history of Guinness as you
pour yourself a pint. Meet an Irish farmer and his wife, and have lunch
while you learn about their daily life. Spend time exploring Dublin and
Belfast. Then travel to Southampton to board the Celebrity Eclipse as she
cruises the Atlantic with considerably more comfort than was available
200 years ago, ending your cruise in Miami.

JOURNEY HIGHLIGHTS
North County Dublin, Ireland - Arriving in Dublin you will be met and greeted by your Irish Tour Director. Your first call is for a tasty full Irish breakfast, which is included, in the quaint and traditional Irish pub called the “Man O War.” Situated in North County Dublin, this ancient pub was established in 1595. The owner will give you the full history of this quaint pub and its interesting past. With its thatched roof, whitewashed walls and superb traditional-style bar, lounge and restaurant, the setting is a picture to behold.
Dublin, Ireland - Drive into the heart of Ireland’s capital for an overview tour of the city. We will take a journey of discovery into the very heart of what makes Dublin the vibrant city it has become. You will be given a panoramic tour of the city pointing out the interesting public buildings, lovely parks, rows of Georgian houses with their brightly painted doorways, Trinity College, St Patrick’s Cathedral, the city’s museums and the regenerated South Bank. Then we will drive across the river Liffey and along O’Connell Street with its spire of Dublin, and more!
County Wicklow, Ireland - Depart Ireland for the short drive to the “garden county” of Ireland, County Wicklow. We will drive South from Dublin and pass under the shadow of the great Sugarloaf mountain which dominates the skyline. Though only 1645 feet high, its isolation from other hills, steep slopes and volcanic appearance makes it appear much taller than it is. Our first stop after a beautiful drive is in the heart of North Wicklow, the 12th Century monastic site of the old Saint from the 6th Century, St. Kevin.
Glendalough - Glendalough (or Gleann Da Loch, meaning ‘The Glen of the Two Lakes’) is situated in the midst of the Wicklow Mountains National Park and is surrounded by stunning scenery. The ancient monastery is fascinating, having been founded in the 6th Century by St. Kevin who chose the site because of its beautiful and remote setting in a glaciated valley with two lakes. The monastic remains include a superb round tower, stone churches and decorated crosses. The round tower is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the area.
Boyne Valley, Ireland - Drive to the placid, historical and scenic Boyne Valley through Slane. We will stop at a typical Irish family farm, that of Brendan Menis. We are privileged that Brendan and his wife have opened their farm for us as it is not used by any tour group. The farm is of a medium size and the entire family works the land here. Ireland as a whole produces enough food for 36 million people, an impressive statistic considering we are a population of less than 4 million! Lunch at the farm will be provided.
Annagassan and Salterstown - Explore these two sleepy villages along the coast where families work the soil growing potatoes and cereals, and fishing for a living. The rural pub of Seamus Darbys at the crossroads of Togher is our next stop. A natural and great storyteller regaling tales of old Ireland and their working day, Darbys is typical of the area where farmers came late at night for a drink and to share their stories.

Chilean Fjords (Scenic Cruising), Chile - These are some of the most magnificent fjords in the world. As your eyes work their way up the jagged walls of mammoth glaciers, you may be rewarded with an Andean condor sighting. On the ocean’s surface, the Magellan penguins always put on a good show.
Punta Arenas, Chile - The southernmost point on the contiguous South American continent, Punta Arenas overlooks the Strait of Magellan and Otway Sound, home to colonies of sea lions and Magellan penguins. It’s also one of the few places on earth where you can snow ski while looking out over the ocean.
Ushuaia, Argentina - No city on the planet has more southerly latitude. As a result, the sun shines for 18 hours during each summer day, providing ample opportunity to view the mix of glaciers, forests and sea, all framed by Mount Martial to the west and Mounts Olivia and Cinco Hermanos to the east.
Montevideo, Uruguay - Uruguay is cattle country, and although Montevideo is a thoroughly modern city with a rich artistic tradition, the reach of the rural estancias is all around you. If ever there were a time you were inclined to indulge, delicious steaks are the specialties of the house in virtually every restaurant.
South America has long captivated travelers with its wide range of natural and cultural attractions. From rainforests to remote mountain villages, and from cosmopolitan cities to wind-swept ocean passages, one serious look at the continent and all it has to offer is enough to leave most travelers wondering where to begin and what to include. That’s why we have carefully selected the best combination of South America port experiences from several Celebrity Cruises itineraries and have packaged them with enriching land itineraries that visit everything from colonial towns and ancient ruins to stunning Iguazu Falls and the best Tango restaurant in Buenos Aires! The choice is yours.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL

Buenos Aires, Argentina - Discover this elegant city with a tranquil cruise through the Tigre Delta past islands, mansions and English gardens. If only one word could be used to describe this vibrant and richly cosmopolitan city, it would be “mosaic.” Stroll along these broad thoroughfares, like the Plaza de Mayo, where famed first lady Evita Perón led fervent crowds to petition for her husband’s release from prison, or visit Pirámide de Mayo, the oldest of the city’s many national monuments.
Elephant Island, Antarctica - Elephant Island is an ice-covered, mountainous island off the coast of Antarctica in the outer reaches of the South Shetland Islands. The island’s name can be attributed to both its elephant head-like appearance and the sighting of elephant seals on its shores. It is on Elephant Island that Sir Ernest Shackleton and his crew sought refuge, floating on three small boats through mammoth icebergs and landing between steep cliffs.
Sao Paulo (Santos), Brazil - Journey inland to vibrant São Paulo, and see its modern skyscrapers and monuments, and visit the beautiful art museum. With 20 million people living here, this is the third largest city in the world. Or explore charming Santos and its extraordinary botanical garden, including an orchidarium with over 100 flower species and an aviary alive with macaws, toucans and parrots. Take a scenic drive to Guaruja, and visit the resort town’s fascinating aquarium.
Rio de Janiero, Brazil - Rio de Janeiro resists all adjectives. Even if you get that absolute vista from the top of Corcovado Mountain, you’ll still thirst for more — for the taste of an acai berry drink, the pulse of samba, and the feel of the Atlantic on your toes. Enjoy a scenic cable car ride to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain for its renowned view. Visit the lush botanical gardens, see famed Ipanema and Copacabana beaches, and take in a thrilling samba show.

Deemed as ‘living evidence of civic memory’ by the Museum of the City of Buenos Aires, the venue is a truly historic site and will take you back to the tango heyday of the early 1900s. Sit back and prepare to be impressed by the passionate performances happening on stage. The show will take you from 1860 to the present, highlight the history of tango and Buenos Aires. Antarctic Cruising – Take in the mesmerizing sights of massive ice flows, cresting humpback whales, waddling penguins, barking leopard seals, in their natural element as you cruise alongside this frozen continent.
Stanley, Falkland Islands – Capital of the Falklands since 1845, tiny Stanley lies on the windswept tip of East Falkland Island. The Falklands long served as a way station for ships, particularly whalers, bound to and from Cape Horn. The islands’ rigorous environment is immediately apparent: Stanley Harbor is dotted with the hulls of vessels that succumbed to the fierce winds and waves of the South Atlantic. While their strategic location led to important roles in both World Wars, the islands are best remembered as the cause of the 1982 war between Argentina and the United Kingdom.

JOURNEY TO ARGENTINA AND MACHU PICCHUDeparts March 2, 2018
Visit the legendary ruins of Machu Picchu, and experience the Spanish colonial cities of Buenos Aires, Lima and Santiago on this South America journey. Spend a night in Buenos Aries, the glittering capital of Argentina and home to the legendary tango! Then board a cruise that will take you all the way to the world’s southernmost city, Ushuaia, via historic Cape Horn. Cruise the serene waters of the Chilean fjords, a hidden treasure few Americans have seen, before arriving at Valparaiso to continue your journey by land. Experience Chile’s countryside and wine-growing region on your way to Santiago. Then travel onward to Peru’s Sacred Valley. There, 7,000 feet above sea level and nestled on a small hilltop between the Andean Mountain Range, the majestic city of Machu Picchu soars above the Urubamba Valley below. The Inca-built structure has been deemed the “Lost Cities,” and was unknown until its relatively recent discovery in 1911. Finally, visit Peru’s capital cities of yesterday and today: Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire and later a Spanish colonial stronghold, and Lima, the modern capital once known as the “City of Kings,” before returning home.

JOURNEY HIGHLIGHTSLima, Peru - Visit the Main Square, the Presidential Palace, the Archbishop’s Palace and the Lima Cathedral. Explore Saint Francis Church, which has an enviable collection of old books and an authentic network of catacombs open to the public. Explore the Larco Museum, located inside a mansion built on a pre-Columbian pyramid of the 7th century.
Sacred Valley, Peru - Experience a llama farm where local families show the traditional process of weaving and making garments. Then discover the Pisac citadel, known for the craft market established between colonial buildings and for one of the most impressive agricultural terraces and ruins in the valley. Enjoy lunch at Wayra Ranch, where rich soil and ideal weather have combined to create a feast, and view a stunning equestrian demonstration set to the rhythm of music.
Machu Picchu, Peru - Your tour to Machu Picchu begins with a two-hour train ride to Aguas Calientes. This town is also known as “Machu Picchu pueblo” and is the last stop before the entrance to the remains of the most important archaeological site in Peru. In Aguas Calientes you will find the railway station, a crafts market and restaurants. Finally, after a short transfer you will reach Machu Picchu, a masterpiece of engineering and architecture that many believed served as a sanctuary and retreat for the Inca Pachacutec. Machu Picchu, which means “Old Mountain,” is considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
Cusco, Peru - You will visit the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, a huge fortress built with large stones whose transportation still remains a mystery. Continue to Quenqo, an archaeological complex where it is believed that agricultural rituals were performed, and Puka Pucara, which literally means “Red Fortress.” You will also visit the Temple of the Sun, once full with gold artifacts, and visit the Cathedral, the most important building on Cusco’s Main Square with construction that lasted almost a century.
Santiago, Chile - You will visit the major landmarks in the city, such as Avenida Bernardo O’Higgins, Santa Lucia Hill, Barrio Lastarria, the La Moneda Palace, the Santiago City Hall, the Cathedral, the old financial district, and the urban park, Parque Forestal. Last, but not least, you will take a tour of the new financial district, located at the highest point in the city. This modern area sits in incredible contrast to Santiago’s colonial landmarks.
Valparaiso, Chile - Your transfer to the coastal area includes a visit to a winery with wine tasting and lunch included and then a brief city tour of Valparaiso before embarking your ship. Valparaiso played a very important geopolitical role in the second half of the 19th century, when the city served as a major stopover for ships traveling between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans by crossing the Straits of Magellan. In 2003, the historic quarter of Valparaiso was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a new national law named the city “Chile’s Cultural Capital.”
