Traveling Amazon will provide you with the support you need to travel to your interview
location by car or plane.
Getting to the Airport Many cities offer direct public transportation to and from major airports. Information about these options can be found by contacting the airport directly or using searching the Internet – but may be limited to a daytime schedule. It is a good idea to carry cash for a cab to expedite the process if using a traditional taxi service. Alternatively you are welcome to use other cab services but please ensure to have it all set up prior to your travel.
To give yourself ample time to check in, get through security, and board your plane, arrive at the airport 2 hours prior to departure.

At the Airport Airports and airplane travel can be intimidating. The following guidelines will
help you navigate the airport successfully.
Check-In Flight check-in is an important step of your flight travel. You will have three options to check in: (i) online at home, (ii) app on your smart phone, and (iii) kiosk at the airport. You will simply need the information provided on your emailed itinerary from CWT to check in.
Choosing how to check-in
for your flight requires
that you understand your
options. Keep in mind
that smaller airports may
not have as many check-in choices as larger
airports, so be sure to
research online before
your trip.

Boarding Passes A boarding pass is your confirmed ‘ticket’ that will be required to drop off your baggage, pass through security, and get on your flight. Your pass contains important information like your flight number, departure time, updates/delays, seat number, and departure gate. Your physical or electronic boarding pass will be issued after your check in. If you have a connecting flight, both boarding passes will be issued to you. Always keep your boarding pass accessible while at the airport.

Baggage If you decide to check in a bag for your travel, you must pay for baggage fees either during your check in process or when you drop off your luggage at the airport. Signs will direct you to ‘baggage drop off’ at your designated airline ticket counter. Be prepared with your ID, boarding pass, and enough cash or a payment card to drop off your baggage. Your bag will be checked in straight to your final destination. You will receive printed confirmation numbers that will help in the event of lost luggage, so keep them stored safely along with your other travel documentation.
Airport Security The next step in airport travel is navigating security. Follow and double check signs for your terminal/gate (found on your boarding pass or airport monitors) to make it to the right security line. An oversight of the proper terminal could cost you extra time! Airport security screenings are run by the United States Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and utilize metal

detectors, full-body scanners, manual pat-downs, x-ray machines and explosives-detecting hand swab tests to ensure weapons and explosives do not make their way onto aircraft. To prepare for security, you will have to:
1. Take off your shoes 2. Empty pockets 3. Remove electronics 4. Remove any liquids compliant by the 3-1-1 policy
And place all items in designated trays to slide down a conveyor to be x-rayed. When it’s your turn to go through the security line, simply follow prompts from TSA personnel who may ask you walk through a metal detector or full body scanner. On occasion, you or your luggage may need additional screening. At the end of your process, collect all your belongings on the other end of the conveyor and don’t forget anything!
At the Gate After security, follow signs to your gate; sometimes you may have to take a train or shuttle. When you reach the gate, you will see a digital display with flight details above the counter where airline representatives can assist you with any questions or concerns. Check your boarding pass for the flight boarding time, and be sure to be in the boarding area within 5-10 minutes of your boarding time. Around boarding time, airline representatives will begin announcements relevant to your flight – listen for any details, changes, and for your boarding section (located on your boarding pass) to be invited to board the plane. Before boarding, remove anything you will need from your carry on and place it in your personal bag. When it is your turn to board the plane,

Connecting Flights If you will be catching a connecting flight, check
monitors immediately after you de-plane to see the
updated gate and departure information for your flight.
Be mindful of time and arrive at your next flight’s gate
with enough time to board. If you checked in your bag, it
will be switched to your new flight by airline personnel.
Post-Flight Once you’ve made it through packing, planning, and flying to your destination,
it’s time to gather your belongings, exit the plane, and head to your hotel or interview.
Baggage Claim When you land, flight attendants will likely provide directions on baggage claim carousel for your flight. After exiting the plane, you will find signage to the baggage claim and the correct baggage carousel. Make sure to check the display above the baggage claim to find your flight number and ensure you’re waiting in the right area. Once you receive your luggage, double check to make sure it is yours. In the event that you do not see your luggage, bring your baggage tracking receipts to your airline’s baggage claim service desk to get assistance.
Ground Transportation After you de-plane and collect any baggage, you are ready to find transportation to your hotel or straight to your interview. If a rental car was not arranged for you, you will need to use ground transportation to get you to your hotel or to the interview. Most airports have signage throughout the terminals that direct you to the ‘ground transportation’ area. Depending on what mode of ground transportation you need, there will likely be different loading zones, so pay attention to signs. Taxis at the airport are typically first-come-first-served, so don’t be shy and wave one over once you reach the taxi staging area. Have your address for your hotel or interview site ready to share with the driver and remember it’s often easier to pay with cash than via a debit or credit card. If you’re staying at a hotel, plan ahead to see if they offer a free airport shuttle service.
Car Rental Rental cars are typically picked up at the airport or a nearby location. Follow signs for rental cars to find the counters or transportation to the rental car building. Information below outlines what you will need to know to rent and drive your car.
Ask airline staff to assist
with finding connecting
flight details when you
approach the airport – they
can be a great resource!

If you encounter any issues checking in or paying for your hotel, please contact CWT directly to assist you.
Return

company to check for damages before leaving and gather any closing documents or receipts/invoices needed to file your interview expense report.
Lodging If you have made arrangements for a hotel stay, you will likely head to your hotel after picking up your rental car. CWT will provide you with all details regarding your hotel stay, including when to check in and check out. Your hotel arrangements will be made for you near your interview location.
Rules and Regulations
Discuss reservation details, ask for confirmation of rules and regulations, and understand your insurance coverage. Do a visual
walk-through ofthe rental car to check for damages before driving away. Make note of return date and time, as well as
expectations on refilling the gas tank, keeping the vehicle clean, and reporting any damages.
Planning

circumstances. Your itinerary will tell you if you have a
rental car reservation.
Parking/Tolls

and be prepared to pay upfront for these fees.

Documents
Prepare with a list of confirmation numbers, reservation details, dates, times and contact information. This info should be with you both digitally and in print form.
Airport Codes
Know your airport's code. Many metro areas have multiple airports! An airport code is three letters, which may or may not align with the name of the city,
for example: SEA = Seattle, PDX = Portland, LAX = Los Angeles, GRR = Grand Rapids
Airport Security
Avoid wearing metal in your outfit on travel day (bejeweled denim,
chunky belts) as this will expedite the security process. Wear socks for walking through security! Or bring a
pair in your carry-on.
Packing
Only staying for a day or two? Pack lightly, ideally carry-on only. Here are carry-on requirements from Delta Airlines (most airlines have
similar requirements).
Receipts
Save all receipts, or at least take photos of them for your records/reimbursements.
Food
Pack snacks in your carry-on! Airport/airplane food is expensive, and might be a limited selection.
Make sure not to pack liquid or gels (pudding cups, juice boxes,
sunscreen, etc).
TravelTips
Do arrive on time for
your flight - 2 hours prior
to departure.
Do stay hydrated and
make sure to eat well
while traveling!
Do ask CWT for
assistance with travel
inquiries.
Do plan routes from
home to airport, airport
to hotel, and hotel to

Don’t call your recruiter
for travel or hotel
questions.
Don’t email about
emergencies – make a
call to CWT!
Don’t forget - this is a
business trip, not a
