I dedicate this book to my Dad, Grandma and sister

It was the week before Christmas and we were driving to a hotel in Mazury, Poland with my grandma, dad and unfortunately my sister. We were still many kilometres away. Driving in the car somewhere far is not something I like.

“Oh no, I can’t get this to work,” my dad shouted with a big sigh. I didn’t say anything because I knew it would annoy him. The problem was that the GPS couldn't find our hotel, all it could do is take us to the town its located in. “We will get there don’t worry,” my grandma told my dad.

“Alex, do we have another movie to watch?” My sister asked with a big yawn. “No, we already watched them all, sorry.” I replied. My sister would normally begin to harass me until I would be mad, but this time she didn’t. We started driving through a weird town. The town were full of lights and people. I could smell the food from the restaurants while we were passing by. It made me hungry. It was such a pain sitting in the car. There was a lot of space inside, but still I felt like I was trapped in a small box. We stopped at a train crossing. We had to wait so long till the huge slow cargo train would pass.

“I don't think we are anywhere close” my sister whispered. Then I thought, why did I want to go with them, I could have been sitting in a sofa watching TV and eating some candy, or playing video games. Although I knew once we get there it would be fun and enjoyable. It got dark very fast, “I am afraid,” my sister told my dad. “Don’t worry nothing will happen,” he replied in an annoyed way. I could tell by then my sister was nervous. “Oh the navigation got a signal” dad told everyone in the car. After some time of following the navigation, we came across a loud “Thud” the wheel fell into a hole.

“What was that?” My sister asked. “Nothing, Calm down Julia” I shouted. I hate when I have to sit next to my irritating sister in the car, the only thing she does is poke me, try to do something to disgust me or say that I am so brainless all the time. We nearly got stuck in mud but luckily we drove out. Now I really felt like going back home even in this time of day. We drove around a bit in this area and we found a sign pointing to the right with the name of the hotel. “We have been here before, so we just past this sign and we didn’t even see it,” I informed my dad. We followed the road for 5 kilometres and then there was a sign with luminous lights. I was thrilled to see this sign. “Finally we are here” everybody cheered.

The hotel was warm and cosy inside. I could start to get relaxed after this annoying car ride for so long.

“Let’s Hope we don’t have problems when we head back to Warsaw,” I exclaimed. “I hope we don’t,” my dad replied. From what happened on the way to the hotel I learned that the navigation will not always find the exact place you want to go. That’s why you have to look at road signs.

I felt like going home.

It was a disaster, boring, annoying unfortunate.

You never know when something can go wrong.
