• I am interested in becoming a truck driver because I believe it would be a fun experience being behind the wheel of a big rig.

• Its not all fun and games being a truck driver there is a down side. You do spend quite some time away from your family and loved ones.

• All problems set aside, Trucking is quite a far and fun job if that’s what your interested in.

• In order to become a truck driver, it is necessary to obtain a high school diploma or pass the General Educational Development (GED) test.

• In order to become a truck driver, it is also necessary to obtain special licensure. The licensure required to be a truck driver is called a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). The CDL allows a truck driver to drive a truck weighing over 26,000 pounds (11,793 kg).

• The average hourly wage ranged from $14 to $28 in 2010. The average wage up north Fort St. John, Peace River, Prince George, Quesnel, Smithers is 23.08 $/hr.

• In the northern area the employment growth is expected to increase and be in demand over the span of the next few years. Logging depends on the mills and how much wood you are able to bring in.

• You can expect to work about 11 or more hours a day.• Weather can be good or bad (sun or rain/snow)• Since your driving a semi truck , you are risking yourself

everyday. There much bigger vehicles and require more experience to drive.

• Although you are for the most part working alone. Things can get a little hasty at sometimes with people and traffic.
