Translating Assembly Platforms: Vertical Gas Turbine Assembly A major aerospace company approached Bastian Solutions with require- ments for (2) custom, vertically translating platform. The customer needed the large platforms to carry both operators and equipment at various heights during the assembly process. The platforms were required to carry a payload of 2,300 pounds to a raised height of 14 feet. Bastian’s solution to this project was a two post, cantilevered vertical lift. The drive system for the vertical travel of the unit is (2) large jack screws driven by a single electric gearmotor. The platform is supported by a precision guidance system. The en- tire platform structure is self-supporting and above ground minimizing its facili- ty footprint. Historically this of style of engine assembly lift would be built in a sub-floor level pit limiting flexibility for modifying facility layouts. To accommodate the various diameters of the engine subsystems, the platform design includes a variable geometry platform opening. Light-weight, remov- able panels are easily installed and re- moved as needed by operators on the fly. The platform features include integral pneumatic, electrical and data connec- tions. It also has built it tool storage locations. The capabilities incorporated into this design allowed for the customer to streamline their process resulting in reduced costs and faster delivery.

  • Translating Assembly Platforms: Vertical Gas Turbine Assembly

A major aerospace company approached Bastian Solutions with require-ments for (2) custom, vertically translating platform.

The en-tire platform structure is self-supporting and above ground minimizing its facili-ty footprint. Historically this of style of engine assembly lift would be built in a sub-floor level pit limiting flexibility for modifying facility layouts.

To accommodate the various diameters of the engine subsystems, the platform design includes a variable geometry platform opening. Light-weight, remov-able panels are easily installed and re-moved as needed by operators on the fly. The platform features include integral pneumatic, electrical and data connec-tions. It also has built it tool storagelocations. The capabilities incorporated into this design allowed for the customer to streamline their process resulting in reduced costs and faster delivery.
