Pause it periodically and ask the child holding the picture when the music stops to name something he sees in the picture. Continue until all have had a turn.

Bible Learning Activities

8:45 & 11:30 (11:00 at WH and 11:15 at Gallatin)

Print Letters in Play dough

Print the words “Bible” and “God” on index cards. Place the cards, craft sticks, and play dough on the table. Show preschoolers how to flatten the dough and use a craft stick to make marks or print letters. Talk about the words on the index cards. Tell boys and girls that God asked a man named Jeremiah to write some of the words that are in our Bible. Suggest to preschoolers to try to copy the words on the index cards.

Cutting and Gluing

Place construction paper, glue, scissors and white paper on the table. Print the Bible verse “God told Jeremiah to write His words” Jeremiah 36:2 on the sheets of white paper. Invite preschoolers to choose different colors of paper to cut into shapes and glue on their paper. As preschoolers work, comment that God asked a man named Jeremiah to write words in a book and to read the words to the king. When the king’s helper read the words to the king, he became angry because he did not love God. The king cut the book into pieces.

Writing with Different Kinds of Writing Tools

Place an assortment of writing tools on the table such: as crayons, markers, colored sidewalk chalk, colored pencils, pens and pencils. Place the Bible and Me page along side the writing tools as well as sheets of white paper. Help preschoolers identify the word “God” on the Bible and Me page. Invite preschoolers to choose different writing tools to trace the word. As children work, comment that God asked a man named Jeremiah to write words in a book called a scroll. Preschoolers may also enjoy making pictures with the different writing tools on the paper.

Jeremiah Wrote About God (Jeremiah 36:1-4, 22-24,27-28,32)Jeremiah was one of God’s special helpers. One day God said, “Get a scroll. Write all the words I have told you.” God had told Jeremiah how He wanted the people to live. God asked Jeremiah to write His words on a scroll so that the people would never forget them. Jeremiah asked his friend Baruch to help. Baruch wrote on the scroll all the words God had spoken to Jeremiah. When the scroll was written, one of the king’s helpers read it to the king. The king did not like what the Bible scroll said. He became angry. The king cut the scroll into pieces and threw it into the fire. God told Jeremiah to get another scroll and write all the words again. Baruch helped Jeremiah write the words on the scroll. The words Jeremiah wrote are in the Bible.

Stamp a Picture

Place stamp pads and stamps on the table along with white paper. Print today’s Bible verse, “God told Jeremiah to write His words” Jeremiah 36:2 at the bottom of each sheet of paper. Invite children to use the stamps to create a picture. Comment that Jeremiah wrote the words that God asked him to write and these words are found in our Bible.

Paint a Picture

Provide paint smocks, paint brushes, paint, and paper. Invite preschoolers to create a picture with the paint. Thank God for our hands to paint pictures. Tell boys and girls that long ago a man named Jeremiah used his hands to write words that are in our Bible today.

Make a Bible Verse Holder

Fold construction paper in half and glue or staple the sides together. Place crayons, markers, scissors, and Bible verse pages on the table. Invite preschoolers to decorate their Bible verse holder. Give each child a Bible verse page. Children may want to decorate the verses. Guide children to cut along the lines to separate the verses. Show children how to place the verses in their holders. As children work, read the verses to the children. Talk about how important it is to learn the verses from the Bible. Tell boys and girls God had men to write the verses to help us to know how to live.

• Instruct children to listen for activities that can be done with or without hands. If the activity requires hands, the children are to raise their hands. If the activity does not require hands, the children are to keep their hands down. Say activities such as: sing, pray, open the Bible, eat a snack, listen to a Bible story, swing, slide, work a puzzle, watch television, listen to music, draw pictures, brush your teeth, watch a soccer game. Thank God for hands to work and play.
