THE POWER OF PLAY
Bored of boring meetings? Tired of tired employees? Learn fascinating new ways to turbocharge learning, relationships, and happiness.
New studies in neuroscience have identified the Power of Play as one of the best methods to create engagement, increase performance and supercharge creativity and innovation. In a word, play is MAGIC.
Roger demonstrates innovative techniques that incorporate elements of play into education, meeting, and team programming. As an advocate for active, participant-driven sessions, Roger will showcase how to weave together learning, networking, and fun using interaction, theatrics and friendly competition.
THE GAME CHANGER: IT’S TIME TO THINK, LEARN & WORK DIFFERENTLY
Are you a Game Changer? A person that can change the entire game? I am talking about a major did-not-see-it-coming game changer like Lin-Manuel Miranda who wrote “Hamilton the Musical.” Hamilton is a record breaking, award winning Broadway musical with ticket prices exceeding $3,000 a seat. My thinking about business analysis has forever been changed after seeing “Hamilton the Musical.” Business Analysts need to embrace that kind of game-changing skills as we head into the future of business analysis. Can’t afford the ticket price? No worries because tickets to Bob the BA’s Game Changing presentation are included in your conference price! The future of business analysis requires people that are Game Changers to lead their projects, teams, and practices into a new era of technology, hybrid business models, and advanced collaboration. Game Changers anticipate what is coming and they work hard today so that they are prepared for tomorrow. Hey Game Changer, do you know what you need to do today to get ready for the future of business analysis? Don’t be caught in the past and get ready for a game-changing event that you will not soon forget because you are about to Think, Learn & Work DIFFERENTLY!

Timothy Guay, AgileWorksHow do you effectively share a data-driven business case? How do you keep stakeholders engaged while sharing a bunch of numbers and figures? How do you turn a pile of statistics into something that’s meaningful? All data has a voice. Someone has to extrapolate meaning from it — and then transform this meaning into a compelling story that moves people to take action. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to storify data and information to more quickly get your point across to get the action that’s needed.
Writing requirements is easy. Writing good requirements (concise, complete, understandable…. you’ve seen the list.), THAT is what’s hard. If you’ve ever taken over a project from another BA and tried to decipher someone else’s requirements, you’ve seen this first hand. Can we improve how we write and reduce confusion and bad interpretations in the future? Sure – come find out how.
Design Thinking is an innovative approach to get your team in that high performing mode. I will tell you, they are all saying we need a clearer, improved focus on the customer. Using Design Thinking approaches to your work is a way to get that clear focus. Design thinking has a long history…it is not new. Design thinking has evolved and has moved into your world. Join Kupe to experience problem solving in a different way (starting with the customer experience). Learn by doing and see how being part of a design team can get your team focusing on what the customer really needs. Design Thinking is about collaboration. We won’t just talk about collocation in this session. You’ll get to feel it.
Scrum and XP do not explicitly address the role of the BA. However, the BA, either in the role of Product Owner or as a team BA, has a vital role to play throughout the Agile project. Using the Agile concept of the 3 C’s (Card, Collaboration, and Confirmation) as our structure, we will explore the BA’s role, tasks, and techniques on an Agile project through a series of interactive hands-on exercises.

We live in a VUCA world. It’s easy to be consumed by short-term challenges posed by leaders, team members, and other stakeholders and only be tactical in our responses. To respond for the long haul, we must think strategically. We need to know when to stop analyzing and breaking apart data. We need to figure out how to create useful meaning from the uncertainties and trends that seem far out, but have begun to impact us. In this workshop, you’ll walk away with a variety of practical strategic thinking tools you can immediately apply.
“Getting the whole story”; “Understanding the big picture” - depending on the change initiative, this can be quite difficult if the techniques are limited to simple interviewing. A very high percentage of individuals are “visual” learners and thinkers. So, draw them a picture to get them engaged and sharing the detail needed by the Business Analyst. Putting the business process in a visual format can help stakeholders remember key business rules, activities and pain points. This creative thinking and sharing will allow for more complete, concise and clear understanding of the business need resulting in more successful change initiatives.
This workshop will take an in-depth look at how improved decision making helps increase project success. After all, one of the main responsibilities of a business analysis professional is to help others make better decisions. If decisions are not made during a project nothing can get accomplished. Easier said than done right? Making a decision, especially when there isn’t consensus can be interesting, to say the least. However, there are tools that can be used to help facilitate decision making – tools that will lead you and the team to the right decision. Whether you are new to the role or have been doing analysis for a while, you will look at the “why” of business analysis in a whole new light after this session.
The Agile BA Boot Camp will expand your knowledge and take your skills to the next level. In this workshop, we’ll explore the role of the Business Analyst in an Agile environment. You’ll get experience managing backlogs and find out how requirements in Agile differ from traditional project methodologies. This one-day boot camp will take you through the entire lifecycle of an agile project through activities and a hands-on case study.
