The PrayThe PrayThe PrayThe Pray----GroundGroundGroundGround is intended to give our littlest ones some room to wiggle. It is the carpeted area in the front of the worship space because we recognize that kids are more engaged in worship when they can see what is going on. Small children, toddlers, and infants are welcome to use this space with supervision. The Pray-Ground is not intended to be a play area or activity zone. It is a quiet space, however, we understand that children make noise! Please help young children learn how to respect others in worship by using soft voices if talking is necessary.
Busy BagsBusy BagsBusy BagsBusy Bags are located in the basket on the floor just inside the glass doors of the worship space. Inside, children will find fun things to keep little hands busy during worship. Please return the bag and its contents to the basket on your way out of worship.
NurseryNurseryNurseryNursery We understand that children sometimes need a place to be that is just for them. Feel free to use the nursery whenever your little ones might need it. The nursery is located next to the lobby. There is not a nursery attendant so an adult must stay in the nursery to supervise and keep children safe.

St. Peter Kingdom Concept:
We glorify God by building healthy relationships with God,
with one another, and with our community
following the example of Jesus Christ.
GATHERING
PRELUDE
WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS
P: Blessed be the holy Trinity, ☩ one God, who stretches out the heavens, who sends light to the nations, who gives breath to us all.
C: Amen.
P: Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another.
**Silence for reflection and self-examination.**
P: Loving God,
C: we confess that we have turned from your way to follow our
own ways. Forgive us for the times we have spoken or acted too
quickly; we have not spoken or acted at all; we have hurt those
closest to us; we have hurt those we have yet to know; we have
thought more about ourselves than others; we have thought less
of ourselves than we ought. Turn us around, and give us a fresh
start, so that we can live as your children. Amen.
P: Even when we have done wrong, God makes us right. Even when we
have messed up, God puts us together. God’s love never runs out. God
never tires of calling us beloved children. Hear God say to you now:
Your sins are forgiven, for the sake of ☩ Jesus Christ our Savior. C: Amen.

OPENING HYMN Come and See
6
GREETING
P: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the
communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
C: And also with you.

HYMN OF PRAISE He is Exalted

PRAYER OF THE DAY
P: Let us pray. O God,
C: in the transfiguration of your Son you confirmed the
mysteries of the faith by the witness of Moses and Elijah, and in
the voice from the bright cloud declaring Jesus your beloved
Son, you foreshadowed our adoption as your children. Make us
heirs with Christ of your glory, and bring us to enjoy its fullness,
through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns
with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
WORD
FIRST LESSON Exodus 24:12-18 12The LORD said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain, and wait
there; and I will give you the tablets of stone, with the law and the
commandment, which I have written for their instruction.” 13So Moses set
out with his assistant Joshua, and Moses went up into the mountain of
God. 14To the elders he had said, “Wait here for us, until we come to you
again; for Aaron and Hur are with you; whoever has a dispute may go to
them.”
15Then Moses went up on the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain. 16The glory of the LORD settled on Mount Sinai, and the cloud
covered it for six days; on the seventh day he called to Moses out of the
cloud. 17Now the appearance of the glory of the LORD was like a
devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the sight of the people of
Israel. 18Moses entered the cloud, and went up on the mountain. Moses
was on the mountain for forty days and forty nights. Word of God, word
of life.
C: Thanks be to God.
SECOND LESSON 2 Peter 1:16-21 16For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to
you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we had been
eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17For he received honor and glory from God
10
the Father when that voice was conveyed to him by the Majestic Glory,
saying, “This is my Son, my Beloved, with whom I am well pleased.” 18We
ourselves heard this voice come from heaven, while we were with him on
the holy mountain.
19So we have the prophetic message more fully confirmed. You will do well to be attentive to this as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the
day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20First of all you
must understand this, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one’s
own interpretation, 21because no prophecy ever came by human will, but
men and women moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. Word of God,
word of life.
C: Thanks be to God.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God WOV # 783
(verse 1) (Blue Hymnal)
GOSPEL Matthew 17:1-9
P: The holy gospel according to Matthew the seventeenth chapter.
C: Glory to you, O Lord.
P: 1Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led
them up a high mountain, by themselves. 2And he was transfigured
before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became
dazzling white. 3Suddenly there appeared to them Moses and Elijah,
talking with him. 4Then Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be
here; if you wish, I will make three dwellings here, one for you, one for
Moses, and one for Elijah.” 5While he was still speaking, suddenly a
bright cloud overshadowed them, and from the cloud a voice said, “This
is my Son, the Beloved; with him I am well pleased; listen to him!” 6When
the disciples heard this, they fell to the ground and were overcome by
fear. 7But Jesus came and touched them, saying, “Get up and do not be
afraid.” 8And when they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus himself
alone.
11
9As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus ordered them, “Tell no one about the vision until after the Son of Man has been raised from the
dead.” This is the gospel of the Lord.
C: Praise to you, O Christ.

APOSTLES' CREED
P: With the whole church, let us confess our faith.
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and
earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was
conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered
under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he
descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he
ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the
Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the
communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of
the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
THE PRAYERS **Time for silent prayer & meditation – See Yellow Prayer Sheet. After each petition, the people respond.** AM: Lord, in your mercy. C: Hear our prayer.
12
MEAL
THE PEACE **In an act of unity, blessing and reconciliation, we greet one another with the peace of Christ. You are invited to share a sign of peace with those around you.** P: The peace of Christ be with you always.
C: And also with you.
THE OFFERING Emmaus Singers **Our gratitude is expressed in gifts for the church's mission and the world's needs. Music invites us to reflect.**
OFFERTORY PRAYER
AM: Let us pray. Merciful God,
C: receive the gifts we bring, ourselves, our time, and our
possessions. Through this meal unite us as your body, shining
with the light of your justice and mercy; for the sake of him who
gave himself for us, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION
P: The Lord be with you.
C: And also with you.
P: Lift up your hearts.
C: We lift them to the Lord.
P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
C: It is right to give our thanks and praise.
P: It is indeed right, our duty and our joy, that we should at all times
and in all places give thanks and praise to you, almighty and merciful
God, through our Savior Jesus Christ; who, sharing our life, lived among
us to reveal your glory and love, that our darkness should give way to
your own brilliant light.
13
P: Holy God, you alone are holy, you alone are God. The universe
declares your praise: beyond the stars; beneath the sea; within each cell;
with every breath.
C: We praise you, O God.
P: Generations bless your faithfulness: through the water; by night and
day; across the wilderness; out of exile; into the future.
C: We bless you, O God.
P: We give you thanks for your dear Son: at the heart of human life; near
to those who suffer; beside the sinner; among the poor; with us now.
C: We thank you, O God.
P: In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread,
and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and
eat; this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.
Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to
drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you
and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance
of me.
P: Remembering his love for us on the way, at the table, and to the end,
we proclaim the mystery of faith:
C: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.
P: We pray for the gift of your Spirit: in our gathering; within this meal;
among your people; throughout the world. Blessing, praise, and thanks
to you, holy God, through Christ Jesus, by your Spirit, in your church,
without end.
C: Amen.
THE LORD'S PRAYER
P: Gathered into one by the Holy Spirit, let us pray as Jesus taught us.
C: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom
come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today
our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin
14
against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from
evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now
and forever. Amen.
INVITATION TO COMMUNION
P: We who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread.
Come. Be filled with light and life.
**United in our shared baptism, we gather at Christ’s table. We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ is truly present in the bread and wine of Holy Communion, bringing to us the gift of forgiveness and the promise of eternal life. Please come forward via the side aisles and receive the bread. After you receive the bread, you may choose an individual glass of wine (purple cups) or grape juice (white cups). A chalice of wine is available in the center for those who wish to drink from a common cup. You may return to your pew via the center aisle. If you do not desire to receive communion, you may come forward for a blessing or remain seated.**

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO DELIVER MEALS Fresh Meals on
Wheels is a wonderful program that does so much. It ensures that people
don’t go hungry by providing them tasty nutritious meals, it helps keep
people in their homes, it provides a safety check to help families know
their loved ones are safe, and it provides a friendly face and social contact
for those receiving meals. There are many churches, organizations, and
individuals who volunteer their time and open up their hearts to the
clients receiving Meals on Wheels. Lori Ristow will be coordinating a
group from St. Peter Lutheran Church to deliver meals to those in need.
St. Peter is looking to fill the following dates: the 1st Monday of each
month, the 2nd Tuesday of each month, the 5th Wednesday and Thursday
(when it occurs in a month), and the 3rd Friday of each month. For more
