TRANSFER STUDENT VISIT DAYSThe visit day allows transfer students to tour Iowa State's campus, meet with Admissions staff to
discuss next steps in the transfer process, and attend an engineering information session related to
your adventure at Iowa State University.

TRANSFER STUDENT ORIENTATIONOrientation is NOT the same thing as a visit day -- it is a vital part of getting ready to be an ISU engineering
student. When you attend orientation, you will have a meeting with your academic adviser where you
register for your first semester's classes. Sign up now if you have been accepted to continue your studies
at Iowa State during 2019. After you accept your offer of admission, orientation information and registra-
tion details are sent to you. Be prepared to attend orientation by
1) knowing which engineering major you want to pursue and
2) taking the online ALEKS math assessment prior to
orientation, if required.

Iowa State Student Organization Highlight:
Society of International Engineers
The Society of International Engineers (SIE) is a
group of Engineering students at Iowa State
University. Their mission is to build a strong
community of international engineers through
studying abroad, while making the world a
smaller place through cultural connections.
The three main goals of SIE are to:
• Promote study abroad for ISU students
• Welcome ISU students back from
studying abroad
• Welcome international students to the
beautiful Iowa State University Campus
and Ames community.
The SIE provides scholarships in the spring and fall
semesters to help fund engineering study abroad
programs. Students who are actively involved in SIE
will be given a higher priority during the scholarship
selection process.
SIE holds social meetings about once a month that
highlight different cultures and study abroad
programs and go on trips each semester. More
information can be found at SIE’s website.

company introduction:MMC ContractorsWhat are you looking for when hiring an engineering intern/full-time employee?
We look for candidates that are personable and either already have some knowledge of
the company or ask questions to learn more. Experience is great, but not required. As
long as you take initiative and are willing to work hard we will teach you everything you
need to know.
What is unique about MMC Contractors?
MMC Contractors is an ESOP, we are 100% employee owned which is a financial
motivator but also contributes to our great company culture. Everyone wants what is
best for the company as a whole and is always willing to help his or her coworkers.
What do you like about MMC Contractors?
Every day brings new opportunities whether that is working with a system you haven’t
been exposed to before or developing new relationships within the industry. Our Iowa
office is one of the youngest MMC Contractors locations, so it is exciting to be a part of
and contribute to the growth of the company!
What do you find challenging about MMC Contractors?
One thing challenging about my role as a Project Engineer is
that my responsibilities are always growing or changing in some
way. I have to make sure I manage my time well and identify
which tasks take priority in order to meet deadlines and help
the company keep moving forward.
Any additional information you would like to share?
MMC Contractors is a national mechanical contractor and
belongs to the MMC Corporation family of companies which
also includes Countywide Mechanical Systems, MW Builders,
and Building Control Services. A fun fact is that the MMC
Contractors Iowa office is the only branch of the company that
provides electrical construction and maintenance services in
addition to mechanical and plumbing capabilities.

TRANSFER ADMISSION PROCESS CHECKLISTKeep up on important deadlines -- stay on track by following
the guidelines recommended on the transfer application
checklist. As an E-APP member, you are one step closer to
being admitted to Iowa State, but you must still officially apply
for admission. You can complete that first step as early as one
year in advance of your intended ISU start date.
