Vorwort
Im Bereich „Using your English“ findest du viele abwechslungsreiche Aufga-ben zum Schreiben.

Grammar
Was sind Bedingungssätze?
Beispiel: We might see someone famous if we go to Hollywood.
Wann verwendest du Bedingungssätze vom Typ I?
Wie bildest du Bedingungssätze vom Typ I?
Beispiel: If we walk, we will see more.
B. can, must) oder der Imperativ
stehen.
Beispiel: If I drive, we can be there in ten minutes.
If bedeutet
in diesem Fall whenever.
Beispiel: If it is warm, she always wears a T-shirt.
Beispiel: If I visited Los Angeles, I would go to Hollywood.
• Du kannst would durch die modalen Hilfsverben could oder might ersetzen.
Beispiel: If we asked that man, he might know the way to the Walk of Fame.
• Der Ausdruck „Wenn ich du wäre …“ lautet auf Englisch „If I were you …“.
Beispiel: If I were you, I would buy a new car.

Not everything that is great is new. In1899 Johan Vaaler, for example, had avery clever idea. It was so clever thatwe still use it today and it hasn’t beenchanged. Paper was a great inventionbut you could only tie pieces of papertogether. In 1835, pins were inventedfor this but Vaaler made something outof metal which was much better.

Mark Zuckerberg’s website began on
4th February, 2004, while he was at
Harvard University. It became very
successful with the students there.
Today, it is visited by millions of people
around the world. Although there are
many similar websites, Zuckerberg’s
is probably the best known one.

Everyone should know Martin Cooperbut most don’t. In 1973, he shocked many people in New York when he walked along the streets talking into a strange device. Like every new device, this one was big and heavy, about the size of a brick and two kilos. Cooper’sinvention is carried by most people today – now they are small and light, and simple ones are very cheap.
