Introduction to Training Establishment

• There are three major sugar production factories

• The Sewanagala factory was started in about 1986

• Two sub factories,

a. Sugar Factory

b. Distillery

• Sugar cane capacity about 1250tons per day

• Sugar capacity about 1430 tons

There are well organized productions and maintains sections.

• Two weighbridges

• Measuring sugar cane, fire wood, sugar seeds, spirits weights

• Using load cell technology

• There are 3 types of load cells



• Two cane unloaders

• Tractors >> feed table >> Main cane carrier >> (primary/secondary cutters) >>

Major process is extract syrup from the sugar canes

Mill House cont.

• Main purpose is produce water steam for drive turbines.

• Two types of boilers ( water-tube , fire-tube)

• Build up pressure up to 21 kg\

• Bagasse and fire wood use as combustion sources•

After juice extracted, it send to the production section to do final production process.

• The place where produced secondary product called spirit (OH) are produced in the distillery.



Distillery

• It typically contains 95% alcohol by volume (ABV).

• produce 1700 liters rectified spirit per day

• This section is under inspection of Excise Department.

• Main purpose of water filtration plant is,a. Provided row water to sugar factoryb. Provided drinking water to factory and outside village



Water Filtration House and Laboratory.

• Main purpose of Laboratory is,a. Maintaining the quality of product.

Purity percentage = (Pol / Brix) × 100%

All mechanical item’s repairs and maintaining done by this workshop.

Machinery Section



Workshop

• Planer machine.• Lathe machine (baby lathe, medium lath)• Milling machine.• Bending machine.• Drilling machine.• Rolling machine.• Pressuring machine.

Welding Section

• Bagasse• Ash

• Waste water



Environment ManagementThere can be occur, lot of Environmental Issues due to :

Sugar factory use environmental friendly concept to reduce bad effect of the environment.
