MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF “TRAINING ON DATA COLLECTION FOR

FIELD FUNCTIONARIES” FOR PREPARATION OF DPR GODAVARI FOR

BIDAR DIVISION, KARNATAKA

Training on data collection for field functionaries for preparation of DPR Godavari

River was conducted on 18th November 2019 at Forest Guard Training School, Noubad,

Bidar. A brief warm welcome speech was given by Shri Shiva Shankar, IFS DCF of Bidar

division to the forest and other departmental officials and team of IFB, Hyderabad to

thrive the training on field functionaries. About 59 Officials from forest, agriculture and

urban development departments participated in the meeting.

Dr. Deepa M., Scientist – D has commenced the session by extending hearty thanks to

DCF of Bidar division for kind support for organizing the programme and inviting field

staff. Further, delivered a presentation on key objectives of the project by covering

concept of the riparian forest, groundwater flow, river flow areas, main river and sub -

basins, Land use pattern, elevation zones, treatment models for natural, agriculture,

different approach, urban and other landscapes, treatment models for conservation

intervention, supporting activities, monitoring parameters, catchment area of the river

and intervention area. Also emphasized on the area of the riverscape, priority areas for

interventions, divisional boundaries and village/beat boundaries of the catchment

area.

Also briefed about the areas of; forest density, nature of the forests, native species,

Geology, choice of the species and also activities related to SMC works. Dr. Deepa M.

and Smt. R. Asha Kumari have clarified the queries raised by the forest staff such as

dominated species of the area, special features and collection of GPS coordinates

current land use, Bio-filtration & bioremediation, maintenance of activities and rising

of the plantations.

In the conclusion, Ms. Asha Kumari, ACTO, Team member briefed about modal formats of

DPR Ganga river and explained soil and water conservation, selection of area, rough sketch

of the area, proposal of budget for activities to be implement, dominate flora and fauna,

agriculture interventions, urban interventions and other interventions. Shri Shiva Shankar,

IFS and Dr. Deepa M has clarified the queries raised from the forest department regarding

treatment of area, species selection, boundaries.

Shri Shiva Shankar, IFS , DCF has instructed the staff to collect the information of formats

and submit within the four days. Also informed to the staff this may be treat as Time

Bound.

A field exercise was conducted in the afternoon session in Bidar division. Formats-I to IV

were explained by the IFB team and helped the field staff while filling the formats, also

clarified the queries to the staff.

The meeting was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Deepa M, and thanked the DCF, Bidar

for extending the kind support in organizing the fruitful training sessions.
