Funds allocations under ESSA:

Fiscal Year 2016-2017: Under ESSA’s transition guidelines, formula funds wereawarded/allocated and administered in accordance with NCLB provisions

Fiscal Year 2017-2018: All ESSA allocation of funds regulations (including the newrequirement for the allocation of the proportional share of funds for private schools) arebeing fully implemented effective July 1, 2017

Annual determination is based on the percentage of students eligible for Free or ReducedPrice Lunch (FRPL) - Miami-Dade County Public Schools where 75% or more of thestudents (ages 5-17) are eligible for FRPL are provided with a Title I Schoolwide Programallocation (317 schools for FY 2017-2018)

Title I Financial & Fiscal Impact:

The Title I, Part A formula remains the same and ESSA sustains the existing one (1) percentreservation for state administration of the Title I, Part A program

States must reserve seven (7) percent of the Title I, Part A funds to carry out school improvementinterventions and technical assistance. Ninety-five percent of that amount must be awarded todistricts for comprehensive support authorized under ESSA

States may reserve up to three (3) percent of the Title I allocation to provide competitive grants toLocal Educational Agencies (LEAs) to provide Direct Student Services

The private schools proportional share of funds shall be determined based on the total amount offunds received by the local educational agency under this part prior to any allowable expendituresor transfers by the LEA

Cover any costs associated with transporting children in foster care to their school of origin

1011.69 Equity in School-Level Funding Act

(Signed into law on June 15, 2017 effective July 1, 2017)

For purposes of this subsection, an eligible school is a school that is eligible to receive Title Ifunds, including charter schools

The threshold for identifying eligible schools may not exceed the threshold established by aschool district for the 2016-2017 school year or the statewide percentage of economicallydisadvantaged students, as determined annually

Prior to the allocation of Title I funds to eligible schools, a school district may withhold fundsonly as follows:

• One percent for parent involvement, in addition to the one percent the district mustreserve under federal law for allocations to eligible schools for parent involvement

• A necessary and reasonable amount for direct administration, which includes the district'sindirect cost rate, not to exceed a total of eight (8) percent

All remaining Title I funds shall be distributed to all eligible schools in accordance withfederal law and regulation. An eligible school may use funds under this subsection toparticipate in discretionary educational services provided by the school district
