MARITIME CREW RESOURCE
MANAGEMENT COURSE
COURSE PROFILE: This course provides training and guidance
for Management and Operational Level Deck and Engine
Officers where each participant shall gain relevant knowledge
on the importance of problem solving skills where they can be
involved in activities that will sharpen logic, reasoning, and
skills at defining problems; evaluating the reasons and factors
behind every human act, perception, and behaviour;
developing alternatives and building creativity, and selecting a
solution.
COURSE OBJECTIVE: To provide participants with
comprehensive guidance about hazards at work as well as
preventive measures towards accidents. This will help
participants the value of a “safe working environment” which
can be achieved through teamwork and excellent interpersonal
skills clearly manifested when one knows how to become a
good listener.
COURSE SYLLABUS: Discuss introduction to Human Factor,
cause behind accidents, shell model, assessment of accidents
on Thome vessels, our sensory system, team building,
communication, stress, and fatigue. It also includes operational
atmosphere, culture, rules/regulations/operating procedures
and situational awareness.
TRAINING METHOD: Involves lecture, power point presentation,
and Audio Visual Presentation and simple exercises.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: This course is designed for All
Management and Operational level Deck and Engine Officers.

MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE ISM CODE
COURSE (HSSEQ)
COURSE PROFILE: This course provides training and guidance
for Quality Assurance Manuals in relation to the ISM Code
through lectures, visual presentation and case studies.
COURSE OBJECTIVE: To provide participants with
comprehensive knowledge of the ISM Code, policies and safe
practices on board through implementation of the Quality
Assurance System, demonstrating the vital role ISM plays in the
safety aspects of the shipping industry.
COURSE SYLLABUS: Background of the ISM Code, Purpose of
the ISM Code, Requirements of the Code, Certification, Internal
and external audits, Implementation and Strategies. Senior
officers continue an extra day with Ocean Manager, DNV
Navigator and other systems familiarization
TRAINING METHOD: Involves lecture, power point presentation,
Audio Visual Presentation and Case Study Workshop.
COURSE MATERIALS: Handouts are given to each participant.
A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION is given to candidates
who have successfully completed the requirement of

RIGHT SHIP COURSE
COURSE PROFILE: This course provides training and guidance to
all Deck and Engine Officers and Bosuns where each participant
shall gain relevant knowledge and be familiarized on the latest
edition of the Right Ship and other Dry Cargo Inspection
Questionnaires used by Inspectors onboard. The Training is 3
days in total and aims to provide participants with
comprehensive guidance to avoid possible vetting/inspection
deficiencies. We highlight the list of repeated observations and
targeted items, Conduct of Inspections, Permitted Inspection
actions, Inspection Suggestions and, Distribution of Reports.
COURSE OBJECTIVE: On completion of this training programme,
the participants should.
• Acquire knowledge on the latest edition of
questionnaires
• Avoid possible deficiency with regards to inspection.
• Comply with latest updates on Right ship / AMSA
• Discuss the list of repeated observations and
targeted items.
• Learned how to deal with vetting inspectors.
• Developed a broad understanding of Cargo Hold
preparation and Maintenance.

COURSE PROFILE: This course provides training and guidance to
all Deck and Engine Officers where each participant shall gain
relevant knowledge and be familiarized on the latest edition of
questionnaires conducted by various inspectors it also includes
onboard incident awareness.
COURSE OBJECTIVE: To provide participants with
comprehensive guidance to avoid possible vetting deficiency
with regards to VIQ, to comply with latest updates on the VIQ
and, to highlight the list of repeated observations and targeted
items.
COURSE SYLLABUS: Discuss history of SIRE, revisions of the
Programme, uniform Vessel inspection Procedures, Inspector
Manuals, How to use SIRE – VIQ, Revision of the 2008 Edition,
Conduct of Inspections, Permitted Inspection actions,
Inspection Suggestions and, Distribution of Reports, and
discussion on Incident Awareness

COURSE (“Windows – Based”)
COURSE PROFILE: The course provides hands-on training for
Deck and Engine Officers involved in the operation of the
Planned Maintenance System on board as required by Class
Societies and Regulating Bodies, with an overview on how to
install and operate a standard AMOS – Windows installation.
COURSE SYLLABUS: Presentation and Practical information,
Brief PC introduction, Windows Interface, The AMOS for
Windows Concept, AMOS for Windows – overview of the
application, Data Registration and updating, The Maintenance
Cycle, Stock Control, The Purchase Cycle, Import and Export of
Data, Users and Password Control, Back-up procedures and
Exercises.
COURSE OBJECTIVE: To provide participants with a
comprehensive knowledge of the use of the AMOS-M&P
Planned Maintenance System. The Instructions are focused on
practical application wherein a personal computer is made
available for each participant.
TEACHING MATERIALS are collected in ringbinders of which
each candidate receives one copy.

SYSTEM COURSE
COURSE PROFILE: The course provides hands-on training of
Deck and Engine Officers involved in the operation and use of
Consultas System Planned Maintenance System on board as
required by Class Society and Regulating Bodies. The structure
combines lectures with practical exercises using visual
presentation and printed course hand-outs. The course covers
the features of Maintenance System (e.g. scheduling of
Maintenance, reporting, etc.) and the Spare Parts System (e.g.
Inventory, Labelling, Ordering etc.). It also shows an overview
of the different modules as mentioned above.
COURSE SYLLABUS: Presentation and Practical Information,
Windows interface, The Consultas System Concept, Overview of
the application, Data registration and updating, The
Maintenance Cycle, Stock control, The Purchase Cycle, Import

COURSE PROFILE: This course provides hands on training and
guidance as a user on the windows based tool for all Deck and
Engine Officers where each participant shall gain relevant
knowledge and be familiarized on the systematic planned
maintenance of machineries and as documentation of
maintenance carried out onboard the vessel.
COURSE OBJECTIVE: To provide participants with
comprehensive guidance on the maintenance of all Class
related machineries in order to obtain survey arrangement and
routine maintenance based on planned maintenance system.
COURSE SYLLABUS: Discuss importance installed TM Master in
view to maintenance of machineries, How to run TM Master,
Conduct hands training on revising the database as a user.
TRAINING METHOD : The method Involves TM Master Software
lecture and Audio Visual Presentations.
COURSE MATERIALS: Handouts and latest questionnaires will
be given to each participant.

Electrical Engineer, Marine Transportation Officers and Marine

BRIDGE WATCHKEEPING FOR
CADETS
COURSE PROFILE: The course demands a high level of
participation and response from trainees and places emphasis
on the practical application of bridge watchkeeping principles
and collision avoidance manoeuvres. Theory is covered in
classroom lectures and using computer based learning
programmes. Practical exercises are conducted in a bridge
simulator and are followed by a thorough de-briefing and
analysis of each exercise.
COURSE OBJECTIVES: At the end of the course, participants are
expected to have a comprehensive understanding of bridge
safe watchkeeping principles, passage planning and bridge
team organization. This course aims for the following below to
be observed.
• Standard bridge procedures as per the ICS Bridge
Procedures Guide
• The use of radar and ARPA for navigation and
collision avoidance.
• Review of basic ship handing including squat,
interaction, shallow water effects and constant
radius turns
• Review and application of the Collision Regulations.
• Lights, shapes and sound signals
• Review of meteorology, and interpretation of
available weather data
• Navigational charts and their use
• Tidal calculations and tidal stream data
• Compass error calculations and compass deviation
• Calculation of time of meridian passage, sunrise and
sunset

• Detailed description of the IALA Maritime Buoyage

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: This course is open to all trainee deck
officers. Minimum number of participants is three (3) and the
maximum number is eight (8).
TRAINING METHOD: Lectures to be followed by Practical and
Hands on exercises using the Bridge Simulator.

COURSE CERTIFICATION: A certificate of successful completion

GALLEY AND STORES MANAGEMENT
COURSE
COURSE PROFILE: The course provides training and guidance
for Chief cooks as the head of catering department. Principles
are covered during classroom lectures and interactive
discussion. This course will teach participants about personal
and food hygiene, duties and responsibilities, menu planning,
control of victualling budget, proper garbage management and
the important ISPS regulations during storing.
COURSE OBJECTIVE: Trainees who successfully complete this
course shall have a comprehensive understanding of personal
and food hygiene, duties and responsibilities, menu planning,
control of victualling budget, proper garbage management and
the important ISPS regulations during storing.

/Chief Stewards. Mess man course is a prerequisite to this

MESSMAN COURSE
COURSE PROFILE: The course provides training and guidance
for stewards / messman. Principles are covered during
classroom lectures and interactive discussion. This course will
teach participants about HACCP principles, personal and food
hygiene and duties and responsibilities.
COURSE OBJECTIVES: Trainees who successfully complete this
course shall have a comprehensive understanding of HACCP
principles, personal and food hygiene and duties and
responsibilities.
TRAINING METHOD: Participants to undergo lectures,
interactive discussions.
COURSE MATERIALS: Handouts to be given to each participant.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: This course is open to all messman /
stewards. Minimum number of participants is four (10) and the
maximum is twenty (20).

PORT STATE CONTROL
COURSE PROFILE: Developed by inspectors with USCG and Oil
Major Backgrounds, the course curriculum provides a complete
overview of the Port State and Vetting process. Detailed
descriptions of the most often cited deficiencies as well as
proven techniques to facilitate a successful inspection are

SHIPBOARD SECURITY AWARENESS
SEMINAR
COURSE PROFILE: The course provides training and guidance
for All Shipboard Personnel (masters, deck and engine officers
and ratings) the provisions for the implementation of the ISPS
Code (SOLAS Chapter XI) on board their vessels.
COURSE OBJECTIVE: The objective of the course is to provide
the participants with the working knowledge of the ISPS Code,
during its implementation on board and enhancing security
awareness and vigilance on board. Participants will be given a
demonstration on basic search technique, recognition of arms
and munitions as well as identification of explosive devices and
characteristics of persons who may pose as a possible threat
will also be exposed.
TRAINING METHOD: Involves lecture, power point presentation,
Audio Visual Presentation.

BRIDGE TEAM MANAGEMENT
COURSE PROFILE: The course provides training and guidance
for masters and officers in charge of a Navigational Watch on
the principles and practice of Bridge Teamwork and Bridge
Resource Management as required by U.S. 46 CFR 10.205 (o)
and U.S. 33 CFR 157.415 as recommended by Section B-VIII/2 of
the STCW '95 Code. Principles are covered during classroom
lectures. Practical exercises are conducted in a full mission
bridge simulator and followed by a thorough de-briefing and
analysis of each exercise. Trainees will be required to plan
passages and then execute their plan in the simulator. This
course will teach situational awareness, decision making,
leadership, crisis management, communication, master/pilot
relationships, and voyage planning. Trainees will also be
required to plan and execute a passage in pilotage waters
working with a pilot as part of the bridge team.
COURSE OBJECTIVE: Trainees who successfully complete this
course shall have a comprehensive understanding of Bridge
Watch keeping Principles, Passage Planning, Bridge Team and
Bridge Resource Management.
TRAINING METHOD: Participants to undergo lectures,
familiarization of the ship bridge equipment + ( IBS ) Integrated
Bridge System and subsequently undergo different real life
scenarios on board vessels.
TRAINING MATERIALS : Handouts to be given to each
participant.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT: This course is open to all Deck officers.
Trainees shall have a thorough understanding of the application
of the Bridge Team and Resource Management and are
recommended to apply knowledge through Bridge Simulator
Exercises.
Minimum number of participants is four (4) and the maximum
is eight (8).
COURSE CERTIFICATION: A certificate of successful completion
shall be issued to those participants who successfully complete
the course and meet the assessment criteria.

DRY CARGO HANDLING & STOWAGE
COURSE OBJECTIVE: To provide participants with
comprehensive knowledge to use table on diagrams of stability
and trim data to calculate ships’ initial stability, draught and
trim for any given disposition of cargo and other weights. They
will also be able to determine whether stresses on the ships are
within tolerance by the use of stress data and take actions in
the event of partial loss of intact buoyancy.
COURSE SYLLABUS: This course includes Stability, Trim,
Buoyancies, Movement of the Center of Gravity, Causes of list,
Fresh Water Allowance, Initial Stability, Statical Stability, Angle
of Loll, Effect of Slack Tank, Action to be taken in the Event of
Partial Loss of Inatct Stability, Maintain Seaworthiness
TRAINING METHOD: Involves lecture, Power Point
Presentation, and Audio Visual Presentation.

COURSE PROFILE: The course provides training and guidance

of good painting system in the Preparation, Application and
Evaluation of a paint job and the practical use of painting
equipments and understanding the coating system in a cost

cleaning for improvement of machine performance, accurate
assembly and disassembly of bearings and torque and torque
tightening, describe turbocharger component / selection and
distinguish its function, understand more about operation and
maintenance recommendation of a turbocharger, widen know-
how concerning turbocharger operational problems and
remedies, recognize possible causes of bearing failure like
excessive vibration, operating time, etc., and identify a number
of types of ABB turbocharger products.

BOILER WATER TREATMENT COURSE
COURSE PROFILE: This course provides training and guidance to
all Management Level and Operational Level Engineers where
each participant will gain relevant knowledge and understand
detailed lecture on chemistry of boiler water, engine cooling
water, fuel, evaporator, and cooling seawater treatment as well
as training marine engineers in proper and ideal usage of Drew
Marine water treatment products.
COURSE OBJECTIVE: To provide participants with
comprehensive knowledge to identify sampling and testing
procedures, identify pre-requisites for any boiler water
treatment program to be successful, learn proper boiler water
chemistry maintenance and treatment, point out System Inter-
dependence in the engine room, prevent formation of
scale/occurrence of corrosion in heating systems, cite the ideal
combination of chemicals for complete water control, improve
understanding of principles upon which the treatment of
cooling or boiler water is based, learn up-to-date techniques

comprehensive knowledge of classification of various hull
structures for vessel with double bottom or single skin,
understand functions of every structural element when
assessing structure of a vessel, recognize vessel characteristic-
its causes, distinguish particular consequence of incidents, and

hand-outs. It covers the features of Oil and Gas Industry (e.g.
three main elements of Oil and Gas, type of Rigs etc.) Supply
Operations in correlated to Cargo Handling and Towing. It also
shows an overview of the different modules as mentioned
above.
