Foundation and mission
The Training Centre was established as a separate unit of the State Technical Library on July 1,1999
The Training Centre mission is to provide a professional education for:
staff of the State Technical Library
users of their services
general professional public
The major part of technical and technological equipment purchase was covered from funds of the State Technical Library.
The completion of its equipment was funded from the grant application of the Open Society Institute – Network Library Program (OSI /NLP) in 2000.
Equipment and line-up
This grant application has been followed by the project “Training Centre for Continuing Education of Librarians in the Czech Republic“ of the MOLIN consortium in which the Training Centre of the State Technical Library now participates in:
educational events
coordination of the educational events in framework of the Regional Training Centre in Prague
signing a contract about cooperation in education between National Library CR and STL
Moving into cooperation
Expanding cooperation by participation
in Educational Section SKIP (Association of Library and Information

The most-attended course – MS Word
Total of 76 employees have entered the MS Word course,
40 employees finished the test successfuly during the January 2001 - December 2002 period.
The record holder of this course is our colleague, who filled in 83 tests 3 days before and 69 tests one day before the exam (without neglecting his work – as his superior says). At the end he passed the exam successfully.
