Rope Rescue - Operations Level State Preparedness Training Center March 18-22, 2019 Training Announcement: Course Description Rope Rescue- Operations Level is a 32-hour training program. Provides information and skills to adequately perform basic vertical rope rescue techniques in an urban/ suburban environment. While many of the techniques and skills taught in this program are applicable to the wilderness environment, this is not the intent of this program. The overall objective is to improve rescuer awareness of the safety concerns at rope rescue situations and to develop basic skills in rappelling and high-angle rescue systems. Topics include safety orientation, risk assessment, equipment, basic rappelling and ascending, anchoring, belaying, mechanical advantage, patient packaging, incident management, skills evaluation, and testing. Prerequisite: Rescue Technician - Basic or equivalent Course Provider This course is being taught by a team of instructors from the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control. Location Swift Water Training Facility 5900 Airport Road, Oriskany, NY 13424 Cost There is NO FEE for this course. Lunch will be provided. Travel and all other meals are the responsibility of the course participant.

Course DescriptionRope Rescue- Operations Level is a 32-hour training program. AudienceThe target audience for this course includes first responders. Students must be affiliated with an emergency responder organization. Students must also be a U.S. citizen or have prior approval. The New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control reserves the right to determine eligibility for this course.

Registration ProcessAll student registrations will be reviewed by the SPTC with approvals sent to students NO LATER THAN 2 weeks prior to the start of the class. Registration does not guarantee a seat in the class. If you are accepted into this course, you will receive a confirmation email from the Center. LodgingLodging for public sector personnel will be provided on the nights of:March 18, 19, 20, 21

You are eligible for lodging if your residence and official work station are more than 50 miles from the SPTC and you are public sector personnel. Lodging is not available for federal employees or private industry participants. You must be enrolled in the course and have received lodging confirmation from the SPTC before arriving at the Center, or your lodging will not be covered and you will not be allowed in the class.
