Arrival in Delhi
Delhi is the Capital territory of India.With a metropolitan population ofabout 16.3 million, it is the second
most populous city and second mostpopulous urban agglomeration in
India.
The city's importance lies not just inits past glory as the seat of empires
and magnificent monuments, but alsoin the rich and diverse cultures.
Arrival in Delhi
In Delhi, you will discover that the cityis sprinkled with dazzling gems:captivating ancient monuments,
fascinating museums and artgalleries, architectural wonders, avivacious performing-arts scene,
fabulous eating places and bustlingmarkets.
Getting from Delhi toDehradun
Plane – This is the most expensiveoption to choose, although it will be
the easiest one. You can get yourtickets for $ 80 in advance and
directly fly from the Delhi Airport forDehradun. There will be a helpdesknext to your luggage counter if you
need to ask any questions.
Train – There are a number of trainsthat go directly from The New Delhi
Railway Station to Dehradun and youcan check about the same on
www.indianrail.gov.in. Also, Beware ofthe thieves who can try to steal your
belongings.
Bus – This is the best mode oftransportation to travel from New
Delhi to Dehradun. We can book a cabfor you that will drop you to the DelhiBus Station and will also help you to
get the bus for Dehradun.
Dehradun
Nestled in the mountain ranges of theHimalaya, Dehradun is one of the
oldest cities of India. Dehradun is thegateway to the famous hill station ofMussoorie and the pilgrimage spots
of Haridwar and Rishikesh.
It is the most favored touristdestination as it attracts tourists,
pilgrims and enthusiasts from variouswalks of life to its serene environs.
Dehradun Capital city of the state ofUttarakhand. Population: 578,420 people.Latitude: 29 Degrees 58' - 31 degrees2' 30" NorthLongitude: 77 degrees 34' 45" - 78degrees 18' 30" East Altitude is 640 meters (2100 ft) abovesea level .Also known as “Doon Valley”surrounded by The Great Himalayas. Known as a peaceful city withpleasant weather.
AIESEC in DehradunAIESEC in Dehradun has been
impacting lives in the city since 5 yearsnow and has partnered with some of
the leading education institutions,NGOs and companies like Graphic EraUniversity, Waste Warriors and I CAN,India. This summer we will host a total
number of 40 interns in the cityworking in different projects.
Our team is on a mission to deliver lifechanging experiences this summer foreveryone who works on these projects.
Dehradun: Basic LivingCost
Accomodation: Cost of accommodation differs fromINR 5000 to INR 10,000 i.e. $ 70 to $100.
Travel: 1. Auto Rickshaw Fair: INR 10-INR 20per kilometre 2. Vikram Fair: INR 7 to INR 10 per ride3. Bus Fair: INR 5 to INR 15 per ride
ReceptionOnce you arrive in India, please give a callto the TN Manager and let him or her know
about your plan as to when and how are yougoing to arrive in the city. Normally, we
provide intern pick up from the local busstand, train station or the airport, but theremight be certain cases where due to someconstrain we cannot provide the pick up. Insuch a case, we would provide the address
and the intern needs to take a taxi/autorickshaw and come to the given address
himself.
Reception
Arrival in the city: Please make sure thatyou are in touch with the AIESEC in Dehradun through your EP Buddy.
There will be an Introductory Inductiondone by the EP buddy.
Your first day at the organization: Youwould be accompanied by an
AIESEC member for your first meeting withthe organization.
Role & Responsibility of aTrainee
The biggest challenge of a trainee is to adaptto a completely new culture and way of living,
and that is the true purpose of an AIESECinternship as well.
During the course of the internship, a traineegets to experience completely new thingsand perspectives. A trainee is required to
have a very open mind to try and experiencedifferent things.
Adjusting to the newnessA new city is a big challenge and demands a lotof sensitivity and capability to adjust.
1. AIESEC: The AIESEC group is usually youngthan the trainee. Most AIESECers in India are inthe age group of 18-22.
2. The organization is totally new and eachorganization works again in different ways.One has to get to know the team and thedynamics.
3. The culture differences are felt verystrongly. One has to adjust to the climate, thefood, the environment, the language, etc.

Like any town, Dehradun has its favoriteeating joints and hang out places. AstleyHall on Rajpur Road is a favorite hang outspot. In and around Astley Hall there are
fast food joints, ice cream parlors,restaurants, bakeries and sweet shops.
