I am extremely pleased to know about this Institute. This

Institute has been in constant attempt to supplement fire

safety services for over seven years not only in the State of

Orissa but also outside of the state. At the advent of steel

Industries in Orissa this Institute, I hope, would provide fire

safety services with same vigor and zeal. That's good

OIFESM was founded in the year 2001 and has been located at the

centre of the temple city of Bhubaneswar. It commenced its

journey of consolidation and expansion right from the day of its

inception along the road of progress to realize its vision. The

Prospective idea of its Chairman and Director on being executed,

has ushered in an excellent academic ambience at the institute's

premises to enrich teaching-learning process and to turn the

Fire Safety or fire protection engineering is a growing profession with new employment

opportunities in various industries including the following areas: structural engineering firms,

fire protection engineering consulting firms, fire departments, fire equipment and systems

manufacturers, government, hospitals and health care facilities, insurance industry, research

and testing laboratories, universities and colleges, entertainment industry, and forensic

investigations.

ABOUTTHEINSTITUTE

Established in 2001, Orissa Institute of fire Engineering and Safety Management (OIFESM) is situated at the central location near Baramunda Government Bus stand of Bhubaneswar. It has a campus at Kolathia as well.

This ISO9001: 2000 certified institute has been formed to cater to the growing need of Fire Safety & Hazard Management professionals in various sectors across India and Abroad. The professionals passing out from OIFESM are compliance with the required services in organizations across various sectors thus ensuring placements.

The Institute have adequate number of staff in place for smooth Operation.

The fire safety program at OIFESM provides a unique balance of fire

application design not available within any other institute in the country.

Developed by National Development Agency of Government of India, named

as Bharat Sevak Samaj, the program revolves around the structural integrity

of buildings exposed to fire and methods to mitigate localized failure or

collapse of structural elements. Programs are also administered under Khadi

and Village Industries Commission, Ministry of Micro Small and Medium

Enterprises, Government of India.

The importance of fire-related design topics not traditionally related to but

certainly important to structural performance cannot be overlooked. These

topics include fire dynamics, design of active and passive fire protection

systems, and human exposure. Therefore, the fire engineering program offers

courses in a vast amount of subject areas and inherently becomes valuable for

individuals with a background in numerous engineering disciplines including

but not limited to; mechanical, structural, architectural, and fire protection.

The fire engineering program will provide a competitive edge with a unique

specialization for all engineers interested in furthering their education.

OIFESM currently has faculty with diverse structural material expertise

including composites, steel, and reinforced concrete and experience testing

each of these materials under fire conditions or under other sources of heat.

The faculty is also familiar with various codes and standards associated with

structural performance under elevated temperatures and fire protection of

structural elements.

OIFESM also houses a variety of fire testing equipment used to evaluate the

flammability, smoke, and toxicity (FST) properties of materials.

The Institute extends Library facilities to our

students. A specious hall charged with

tranquillity and full discipline is maintained

so as to build healthy study atmosphere. The

library has a collection of informative

magazines, articles, Newspapers and study

related technical books to keep the students,

a fresher, aware of latest knowledge.

Student can develop proficiency in practical

field which is provided through practical

training and knowledge which is the

rudimentary to the theories. The Institute

offers practical facilities to each student

during study and training, so that these can

invigorate field potentialities to vitalize

their trainee-ship and student-ship.

For physical fitness each students has

to do parade and March-past in

guidance of instructor. The PT classes

are scheduled for two hours twice a day

in morning at 6.00 to 8.00 am and in the

afternoon at 4.00pm to 6.00pm. . The

PT Classes also cover pump drill, Squad

drill, Rope climbing, and rescue

operation.

The Institute has its own well furnished

hostel and canteen. Accommodation

facility is provided to the students during

study and training. Students are supplied

with hygienic food (Lunch & Dinner) at

these fire fighting training to the Indian Railway

Officials from all zones occupies a special place

in the academic ambience with due order from

Railway Board New Delhi, Govt. of India. Besides

this the institute has also proudly conducted Fire

Fighting training to Indian Rare Earth Limited

(Government of India) officials which are great

and unique achievements in terms of quality

training distinctive from others.

The management of the institute of pledged to extend placement facility to our successful

students & trainees. The Institute is under regulatory nexus with established steel & thermal

plant sectors of mostly all regions of India. Since the course is 100% job oriented the placement

to the deserved is almost assured. The successful trainees are posted in the companies such as

ATTENDANCE

A student must have minimum of 80% attendance in both theory and practical classes to qualify

for appearing at assessment test conducted by the Institute. In case a student remain absent

for consecutive three days without prior application he has to submit the same with due
