European Youth Education and Meeting Centre (EJBW)
The Youth Education and Meeting Centre in Weimar (EJBW) is one of the biggest civic education
organizations in Germany and offers seminars and
workshops for both high school and university
students and multiplier such as teachers and
trainers. The EJBW focuses on topics in the fields of
politics, society, and economics. It wants to provide
everyone a space to discuss current questions and
aims to support the development of a free, open
and democratic mind-set. The programs at EJBW encourage people to take a broader view in every
respect, to try new things and to develop a vision for
themselves and for society.
The Train the Trainer Program
We want our pool of trainers to grow and become
more diverse. In particularly, we want to include
more trainers with migration or refugee backgrounds. With this training program we aim to
qualify people interested in workshop and seminar
facilitation to work in the field of civic education at
our centre and beyond.
We will focus on specific topics in small working groups,
exchanging experiences, and learn from each other. The outcomes from these working groups will be transformed
into methods for a workshop format for young people. The
seminar will be held in English and German.
Some of the participants will be university students from
Weimar. In addition, we are looking in particular — but not
exclusively — for people with first-hand refugee experience,
regardless of their current status and education.
Your Aims
• You are interested in getting to know didactic
methods for non-formal civic education and
gaining experience in working with groups of
high school students and young adults
• You would like to widen your network and get
into contact with educational organizations and
NGOs in Germany
• Become a member of a pool of trainers offering workshops in the field of your expertise and
interests
Our Aims
• We aim to further develop a pool of qualified
trainers, workshop facilitators and experts
who can teach and work for us and partner
organizations
• To encourage people of all backgrounds to
engage in civic education
• Replace stereotypes, prejudice, and
disinformation by acceptance, empathy and
knowledge.
